Phisto SobaniiI’ve done my fair share of ganks over the years. The memorable ones are where the prey escaped. Like that guy at Obsidian Orbital. Ran the gauntlet with a Dolphin! Boosted right through a face full of plasma straight through the slot.

The guts on that one! We were so impressed we escorted him out of the station in formation.




Yeah, when you shoot fish in a barrel, it would be memorable if one got away.

EDIT: Gave this a think. The moral of my story isn’t that I used to gank and that they sometimes got away but that with some skill, grit, and a little bit of luck you might surprise yourself.

Don’t throw your arms up at adversity, folks, even if it appears overwhelming. You can do it.

Brag to me about a fair fight, not a fish in the barrel gank.

Brag to me about ganking gankers and TEACHING otherwise helpless pilots how to escape or fight back.

When you brag about an unfair advantage, you sound like a guy who brags about how many barrel fish he killed.

You show no sign of lightening up when folks complain about getting ganked. I don’t see a reason to lighten up when gankers brag about barrel fish kills

Last weekend I had four duels with other Leguon pilots. We all learned a lot and had a blast! Later on I went hunting for PowerPlay enemies solo. Took on a Corvette and a Krait. Killed the Krait before high waking on the Corvette.

Is that better? I wasn’t trying to brag though - I was trying to show how in a thread where people quit Open after being destroyed years ago there are folks out there that make gankers look stupid all the time.

Got a lot of those stories where I was the one with egg on my face. Happy to share those, if you like.

How does one kill fish in a barrel?

I would probably tip the barrel over but then the fish would technically no longer be in the barrel.

If I were to fish them out and kill them they would again no longer be in the barrel.

If I had a spear I suppose I could do it. Or a gun but then that would require some forethought and planning and could therefore make the task not that simple. Same for bleach or salt. All of these things would definitely kill the fish but would render the position that killing the fish is simple, somewhat moot.

Sorry, I'm upgrading and a little bored.

I’m not asking you to prove anything to me.

I’m simply pointing out how you are perceived by others when you brag about your exploits in seal clubbing.

The git gud responses got old a long time ago. Show some empathy and take them under wing.

First, thanks, Artie, for loading up at least the preliminary intel on the new engineers in Colonia. I already had invitations waiting for me to two of them. I'm disappointed, though, that not one of them appears (at least yet) to have FSD chops. That seemed like a no-brainer to me. I'm happy for what's here, but I really was hoping for a local engineer who could upgrade FSDs.

Do you usually see people brag about failures? Especially gankers?

I agree. "Git gud" just winds people up. I'm going to start employing a subtle reverse psychology technique instead.

Although some of us find PS's "Style" somewhat hard on the unprepared, I have to admit his attacks are, shall we say "exciting" and he does not "rub it in" with a prolonged engagements. I have learned by studying his ship build as he displays it prominently and although he is on everyone's KOS list he does not take offence. He at least displays an honesty and transparency the escapes even some world leaders now-a-days.
