it's not so much the blue print segments that will hold you up but the 21 power cells and technology components from sentinals that trip Cmdrs up unawares

Na'NiHow many times do i have to scan the orb to get the fds module blueprint?

Never mind. One segmant is enough to unlock the mod. Will prob need a good few segments to fully kit out fsd

i just got my fsd booster going to put a class 4 on my corvette.

LordPsymonThe DBX looks better and has plenty of room to stretch your legs. Have you seen the size of its cockpit? It ain't small.

I like DBX for being a pretty unusual candidate for Bounty Hunting in Support role. I had fun using Class 2 Pulses and Class 3 Seeker Missiles. It kinda feels like Brigand-class from Homeworld (a.k.a. Turanic Raider's Missile Corvette), if you outfit it fully with Missiles.

Hell, now I want Turanic Raider inspired Paint kits for DBS and DBX.

Looks better? But we're talking about the DBX, the one that looks like a cricket...

That's why it looks better.

I don't even have anything to compare what the Asp looks like... nothing I would mention in polite discourse, anyway.

You better not be talking about Ms. Cow Patty like that!

Maybe a little tube of travel toothpaste?

It looks like a baloon that is begging to be popped.

I totally agree with you there, based on aesthetics. The AspX has more room (for amenities AND modules), but it's about as boring a design as it gets. The Debbie's got some great lines. I like Hussar's comparison. To me, the Debbie is as close as I'm ever gonna get to having a Firefly class ship. The Krait, on the other hand, is only slightly less boring a design than the AspX (and one of the lesser reasons why I sold my Krait). It's a flying pizza wedge, for pitty's sake.

Regarding the Guardian FSD booster, this brings up a bigger topic. Just about any ship can be optimized for exploration if you sufficiently engineer it. But, as stock ships go, relying only on picking the right size and class modules, some ships are by design better. The DBX and AspX, clearly. Next would be any ship that is more multi-purpose--a Python, Clipper or Courier, for instance.

Say, since we're on the topic of ships, what differences are there between the weapons on the guardian fighters?
I'm on school wifi, so I can't get to the wiki.

If one cares about how boring or not a design looks out in the black where absolutely nobody can see it is something I can't really comprehend. It's all about practicality and getting you back home in one piece, and the Asp provides just that and more. But some may need to look good with all those screenshots to show off back home

First time I saw that thing (DBX) it reminded me of an old HIND helicopter missing the tail and top rotors. It may also be practical in its own way, but good looking is not the description I'd come up with when seeing it. Specially with its stock yellow coloring it reminds me of the postal service we have in Germany.

With the setup I linked in my earlier post I have 32.08ly range in my Python. Could squeeze out some extra but I like flying protected (at least from the NPCs).

Find any minor faction aligned with the Federation and run missions for them to increase your rep with both that faction and rank up with the Feds.

You could try the Parna system, Shargin port is only a few Ls from the star (Parna) and is controlled by Federal Liberal Command.

It also has a few stars nearby where jobs could be stacked for reasonable earnings with fairly short distances between.

I've been working from the general area for a few weeks and picking up a lot of Federation aligned jobs.

There may be better places, depends what you want to do really

Hey, different people value different things. And, honestly, I'm not in my ship ALL the time. There's just something about doing my pre-launch walk-around and admiring great lines on a beautifully-designed ship. There's something about returning from spending an hour or two driving around on some lifeless rock and pulling up to an aesthetically pleasing ship...that I own. And when I land on the beach of some earth-like world to scuba dive in never-before-seen waters, chilling out on the beach next to my ship is just a thing. I happen to believe you can have beauty and function in one package. If aesthetics isn't a thing you consider, that's perfectly okay. I'm not judging.

I like your style, Scubadog. I love my AspX for it's functionality, but even with both body kits combined, it still looks like a half stepped on soda can.

That being said, I'm on the road to a Vette. Anyone know of any good builds for range and combat functionality on one of those puppies?

Different people have different minds, that is what makes talking with different people so interesting. There are weird people like me who fly ugly ships simply because they serve their function. Hell I have a Diamondback that is so beaten up that it looks like a discount toaster but she serves her function. That is the important part.

However we all have our opinions. People insult my ugly ships on a regular basis, the strange looks I get when I thank the person who lobbed the insult is priceless...
