Elite: Game talk

Kari KerenskiWilliamReaceso, if one had to log out, and can not remember where the remaining part of a transport task which did not fully fit inside ones cargo hold from the first trip.... having logged out and thus losing ones trail of recent flight paths, also having not written where said task originated from....
How exactly would one find it again?
Flying around blindly?
Maybe some prayer?
Got lucky and found the right station in a system that sounded like it was a familiarly recented name.... hahaha!!
You raise a good issue here - I recently had the same problem and was surprised that the game does not give you that information anywhere! I would've thought it would be in the mission description - seems the logical place to look - but no!
Have you raised this on Frontier's Suggestions forum? Happy to give you a back-up post if you have / are going to.
Yep happened to me too recently. Got Elite trader a while back and went on to do other things, picked it up again after many changes made. I took so many missions then was working them and had to log out, logged back in, had to retrace my steps. It would be helpful if devs put more info in the transaction blurbs, not just for this, but other tasks/missions as well.

I'm saving for the cutter, I only have one more rank to gain for the imperial navy, and that won't take long....
I could of already had it had I spent all weekend on E:D....
But ya know, I live in Alaska, and staying inside even when it's raining, I'd rather go outside.
Back to the topic at hand.
I am saving credits for the Cutter, I'm already halfway there as far as credits go. Which wouldn't take long, save the fact that I'm sticking to the extra+ rep rewards and so earning less credits by a lot, but gaining the rank i need faster. Anyway, I've been using my Asp-X and my Clipper to do most tasks.
the Asp doesn't have a ton of cargo space and the Clipper is restricted to large pads.
So, do I get a Python and fill it up with cargo holds, so I have a Medium ship for hauling some of the more exorbitant tasks that I have been skipping doing with my clipper and also get access to the larger hold required stuff the clipper can't take due to pad restriction?
Or do I just keep muddling along as I have been (skipping some equally lucrative tasks because pad/cargo restrictions), and save the credits which will undoubtedly exceed the ship cost by the time I get the last rank I need?
[Yes I know, that the A-rank modules will also cost hundreds of millions for each of the Cutter's internals]

The Python would be a wise investment. It beats the AspX and the Clipper hands down for capacity and pad options, even a Krait MKII would be a fine option.

Auto Dock on imperial eagle, landing at planet.... it's one of those city stations with the big ring for a outer wall and the landing pads set inside that.
auto dock is flying towards the pad at 106 m/s using the vertical thrusters.... "Your coming in too fast commander, pull up now!" .... half second later "docked" .... hahaha!!
guess the computer did know what it was doing, lmao!!

SidetrackSamI love autodock but I only have it on my Type-9. Just seems like a waste of modules in anything smaller.
I actually only use the eagle for doing the data delivery stuff, lol... that's is also my only ship with a autodock. I prefer to do it myself on bigger ships.... the computer just docks faster because it can do 100 w/o the speeding warning, and doesn't need to see where the landing pad is in order to land on it.

WilliamReacedoesn't need to see where the landing pad is in order to land on it.
Exactly why I use it on big ships, haha. Hell I'll probably slap it onto my Corvette once I get ahold of it.

Shynn MoroLast time I used Docking Computer in Elite was 25 years ago or so on ZX-Spectrum. Сompensating Coriolis rotation with Kempston joystick was real pain in the ass, so Docking Computer was an absolute must have. In 2018 manual docking is one of my favorite parts of Elite:Dangerous. Docking Computer in E:D is like autopilot in car race simulator.
amen brother... same here... funny memories thought

But I won't deny that docking is absolutely fun. Especially with Rotational(?) Correction off.

EDIT: To stay on topic, docking computers were essential 33 years ago, but in my humble waste a good bit of space in 3304... I'll get back to it.
