Elite: Game talk

Skyfyre70This post doesn't represent the wing I am a member of, just my personal view.

I personally would like to see a more dynamic PvP than just what we have now. With squadrons coming may perhaps be lucrative with great risk than just a rebuy. Maybe even a perk of some kind by gaining enough PvP bounties in a certain time frame similar to CGs and the same for pirates.

I've never put the pirate role in the same category with gankers/griefers because pirates are embracing a role. The later does not.

Besides, I like having pirates around. Gives me something to shoot at as I am always in the need of combat improvement as I always assume they are better than me.

Ganking has it’s fun, but can confirm once you’ve got dynamic context to your actions it’s impossible to go back. A LITTLE more help from the game to spark a player’s imagination would be lovely.

Stryker AuneNot to put a damper on you Bjorn, and Phel,

Murdoc has us blocked. No point in trying to reason with someone who has, figuratively plugged his ears and stuck out his tongue.

The only thing you can really do, is watch him trip over his own follies and shrug.

While I personally don't agree with blocking, I really can't blame him, because a certain few individuals, and always the same individuals pounce on him whenever he says anything, just because he has said something. That is no longer discussing the post, that is discussing the poster (and yep, I'm aware that I'm doing that right now too). On the official forums that is reason enough for thread lock. Repeat offenders get special treatment.

Phelbore An NPC you interdict will not shoot first. Neither will most players.

oh yea? Well I'm sure the NPC you interdict will want to make it clear that you have 15 seconds to give up your cargo before they start firing; because you will jettison your cargo rather than continue firing at them.

As for players, they can do it without warning, and they don't have to target lock you before they start firing.... so you won't always get the convenience of a scan warning.

So, the moral is to strike up a conversation, before you engage in "hostile action."
Interdicting someone is considered a hostile action.
It may not put a bounty on you, but it's still not a handshake.

I just want to point out that all the moral bit ppl are taking from me is in response to the bit from Phelbore saying "people won't shoot first" and I know for a fact, that they will.
So if you want to include morals and be RP, you Can or you can Not engage in conversation first.
Really that depends on your mood. However, nowhere does it say you CAN NOT shoot without talking.
And the NPC's are scripted to blather on about you giving them your cargo even if you had no intention of doing it.

Trial-by-forum is usually not condoned by many forums in any case and at some is even reason to punish its user - from temporal inability to post to even permanent ban of the offender.

Please, don't be that kind of guy.

“Trial by forum?” What on earth is that?

Numa.

You may find when reading back that it is not the poster that was responded to specifically (at least by me), it was the content in the post. If the poster posts similar content regularly it may seem personal when it is simply forum conversation. Blocking that feedback means that the poster never takes those opinions on or learns from the experience, hindering growth.

... and now there is Kari's "Objection!" avatar missing.

But, guys, as I have hinted earlier - no touching of anybody. That meant - it's alright to discuss things and individual actions, but please avoid marking anybody as "white knight", "griefer", "PvE pleb", "noob" or whatever. Including words and sentences that imply the same.

Amen, Artie. Glass houses and all that.

Fair enough. But if the two posts above yours weren't personal attacks, then I don't know what is.

Far better to... you know... get better at the game if you're going to play in open.

The triple Elite, multi-billionaire, BGS expert was probably aching for that advice. It's so lucky you came along when you did.

Your triple Elite, multi-billionaire, BGS expert demonstrated an incomplete understanding of a game mechanic. So yes, it really is lucky that I mentioned something.

The problem with the whole ordeal is that I keep monitoring if there is progress with certain people, and due to the lack of such continue to keep them on ignore.

There have been numerous posts on the Frontier forums (namely the BGS section of it) which were done with the sole purpose to attack either myself or the Wing as a whole that I'm in. They were clear attempts to rile me up or trigger any type of heated response, nothing else. But it starts to get laughable if people who never were part of our Wing or know anything about how we operate throw baseless accusations into the open with the hope that the community will pick up on them.

I normally have no problem to forgive someone that has done me wrong, but with the people in question that's quite the tall order. The thing that mostly irked me is that, as outsiders, you don't get to tell another group of people what they are supposed to do or not. You don't go as far as summoning Artie and tell him to do your bidding on the Inara discord.

And for what? For dedicing not to show the affiliation between the PMF you support in your BGS and the Wing itself (which is a valid choice since Artie implemented that possibility).

Even when trying to explain that and pointing out that it is in the very Lore of the Wing that there is no public connection between the two, myself and others got called cowards and other nice names.

I don't deny people their opinion, but unless you're a part of something you simply don't get a say on how things are handled. If you throw a temper tantrum as they did, you come across as anything but respectable persons. You come across as SJW's who do not care for anything but their own view, denying anything else.

And until that stance changes I reserve myself the right to treat them as personae non gratae.

Your wing leader at the time of the conflict you reference told myself and Matt Lehman to literally kill ourselves after actions we took in game.  You publically condoned his comment by not calling him out on it at the time.

Your wing leader apologized. You have yet to demonstrate an ounce of contrition about anything, much less that.

At least our wing leader did apologize. I haven't seen any apology form the other side. So please step off your imaginary high horse.

We didn’t tell anyone to kill themselves over a video game, Numa.
