But I won't.

I was talking about Roleplaying as topic, not Open vs. PG / Solo. So thanks for not debating the point right off the bat.
Also, just because a game is called something that gives you enough of a excuse to stop thinking when playing with other people? This isn't Call of Duty, Battlefield or another type of Ego-Shooter in case you failed to notice. If you want to stay simple then that's a good way to go though, I admit that.
And since you started to mention the Open vs. PG / Solo issue (that never will be resolved by the way), there's an easy method (and even legal by FD standards!) to avoid confrontation with unwanted people in Open.
Block them. Removes the ability to be in the same instance. Wonderful thing in my book.
And I take personal joy out of the fact that the hunters know that their prey is out there, probably even next to them (Supercruise) but they have no way of getting into contact and messing around. And without prey, the hunters will starve. Slowly.
Hear your tummy growling yet?
It's funny because blocking doesn't actually prevent instancing one-hundred percent of the time.
Far better to... you know... get better at the game if you're going to play in open.

The games called Elite: Dangerous, not Elite: Consensual Danger. Players have options to avoid this via solo and PG. You play open, you're essentially endorsing your consent. Nothing you say will sway my view on that. As for proper pirating I live by my mantra in regards to cargo. Ask. Tell. Do. Player's flee because they are greedy, They don't want to lose any of their precious cargo even though these T-9's, 7's, and 6's would only lose 20-40 tons of cargo. Their greed is what makes me have to fire my guns to attempt to disable them, sometimes accidentally kill them.
TL;DR Play open prepare to be shot and don't complain when it happens. A players greed makes them die to a pirate who asks for cargo, not the pirate.
Another example of why Inara needs a Like button

No, because piracy is a side hobby, you think I supplemented all my piracy vessels just with piracy alone? No, exploration keeps me quite well fed. You know what most of my "prey" chant as they blow up from their greed? You're a dick/asshole/ect. all because they thought they could run instead of just submitting. Plenty get away from me sure, but more often than not they blow up when they decide to reboot/repair a 0% PP because they move and I lose count of how many times i hit the PP causing them to blow.

LordPsymonSometimes it's fun to shoot out their engines and let them drift off into space.
Ya, but then the cargo gets scattered everywhere when you hatchbreak them.

Considering I'm here smiling at how easily certain people are triggered I fear you have to do a lot more to touch me

Coming from the guy who basically is the walking Blockocalypse.

Yep, I used to use a chat macro through AutoHotKey that I fired off as I lined up to interdict the mark. Then another macro to tell them to cut their engines and submit to a scan, and the consequences for non-compliance. I had further "flavour" macros bound to my other F-keys to thank them for their compliance, or to make good on my previous threats - I even had one for nope-ing out if I bit off more than I could chew!
The vast majority of my player marks gave me compliments on my RP and it was enjoyable for all. Of course, you'll always get the odd sanctimonious twit who thinks you aren't playing properly to their own holier-than-thou standards, but who cares what they think?
Ah, Kari, what is this AutoHotKey of which you speak?
I could really use that since using VR! Is it a downloadable program or part of windows?

Here you go Taff, it's a free thingy for Windows:

It's not too tricky to set up, but if you shoot me a PM I'd be happy to share my custom file that you could use as a template
