GuruTez82Can anyone help?
Not even sure if this is the right place for this but here goes.
Iv used Inara and the ED market connector for a while, great, no problems worked a charm. Authenticated windows (very late i know), suddenly ED Market Connector no longer works, says permission is denied wont even load. have uninstaled and reinstalled same message. Been online, asked in forums, tried sending the EDMC guys an email but nothing. You guys are my last stop before formatting. Does anybody have any suggestions for me?
As you can tell, I use computers alot but understand how they work very little.

Join the EDCD discord, the Coriolis channel there can try to help.

Mobanditowho can fly with flight assist off

Most don't. It just makes the main truster and the trim thrusters run independently.
Usually on a press-and-hold (instead of toggle) binding to use in tight combat and quick change in vectoring.

That's not entirely true.
I use flight assist in combat all the time, it's set as a toggle on my H.O.T.A.S. because it is quite handy.
Flight assist off, throttle down, spin around, now your flying backwards at max velocity and can SHOOT THE GUY chasing you, if he's flying straight he's sitting duck for your targeting. You can still use maneuvering thrusters to change your direction. And they function to make your max velocity in that direction you are thrusting without having to face that direction with your ships nose.

Flight assist off means that the ship's computer no longer pre-counters the forces of flying in 0-g environments.
Meaning: it won't stop you from hitting that asteroid if you throttle down with flight assist off, you have to actually thrust in the opposite direction to slow down.

The reason why you don't just stop instantly when you cut thrust with flight assist on, is because space doesn't have friction slowing your ship down like atmospheric flight does. The computer has to thrust in reverse to slow your ship after you have told it that you don't want to go that way anymore and are cutting power to the engines.

it is very useful to know how to fly with FA turned off, get practice, it will make you a better overall pilot.

i tried it once tried to scan a wake and i just spun out of control could not scan the wake could not control the ship

"flight assist" is the computer operating automatically to counter your thrust inputs, turning it off means you have to counter your own thrust inputs.

Without flight assist, if you go and fire a thrust to the left, just for a second, in space you will keep moving left by that same velocity until you press thrust to the right to slow down that momentum; Or hit something.

It's not the easiest thing to get used to since we all have lived in gravity our entire lives (unless you were employed by NASA and/or flew a shuttle mission at some point, or took a trip on the "Vomit Comet").

You need only remember that with flight assist turned off, YOU have to counter the thrust maneuvers you make, the computer won't do it for you anymore.

Flight assist ON is fine for most flying exploits like ship scanning, when you need stability. But Flight Assist OFF gives you a 25% extra power to thrust (if my memory serves) and is invaluable in combat, as a toggle.
You can practice it around a station, I often use it on approach to them or planetary bases to line up quicker. Just don’t try it on a high grav planet

Outside of using it selectively in combat, there are a few who find it fun to fly with if off all the time, such as some of the CMDRs of Newton's Gambit. One of them has a training series on YouTube. Even the CMDRs who fly 100% FA off use FA on as a parking brake, though.

I can't believe I've been playing since the beginning and just heard of this. Ah, the fate of an eternal nooblet...

Yeah, I tried that training series. It was hilarious to watch me. I suck so bad at flying with FA off. I just end up pointing all over the place wildly, especially with engineered thrusters. I'll turn FA off at selective situations while in combat to be able to swing a round a little faster and then turn it back on.

Nobody is good at it when they first start. And one of the first things suggested in that series is to practice 'quieting' your ship's rotations. Subtle, brief inputs.

Slow, gentle inputs to start. Soon, with experience, you'll find yourself making faster, harder movements without thinking. No one starts as an olympic sprinter, we all crawl first.

I’m not sure that’s correct. Flight Assist Off disables the automatic counter thrust you feel having it on. It’s not like you go faster than your top speed.

I fly with it off most of the time except for some combat situations and if i have a friend playing for me

The navigation "Bubble" indicator needs to have an opaque background to it.
The "Pumpkin" string lights put a permanent green nav marker just low and to the left of center on my Gunship indicator.
Still messes me up time-to-time even though I know it's there.

Now that I’ve thought about it the ‘25%’ thing might be right? Just feels awkward to say it that way with how different the ship flight models are.
