some people don't fit fuel scoops either. the starmap when you plot a course tells you when you'll run out, haha.

but of course if your just picking your next jump based on the star name in your navigation panel, it might be a bit easier to go 'oh crud i can't fuel at this star either'

of course if you are paying attention to the info panel before you jump, it tells you what kind of star your jumping to, and if you have a fuel scoop you'd be able to tell from that if you can fuel at it.

essentially, NPA, gets you in to all sorts of trouble that's easily avoidable.

I'm honestly astounded that people run out of fuel. It's so easily avoidable.

When on low fuel you got a good chance to reach a scoopable star when synthesising frameshift distance with regular, standard or premium injection.

To all the CMDRS that provided support for The Fuelrat Mischief during the Fuelum civil war.

Each and everyone of you deserves a mention.
To those groups that offered their support to rally to a neutral group in time of need, it has been an honor to receive your communications.
Right at the a major milestone of the groups existence, 50000 souls rescued, a proud moment for all pilots involved.

From all the Fuelrats, past, present and future,

Thank you.

Bjorn GudmundsonI'm honestly astounded that people run out of fuel. It's so easily avoidable.

I think that mostly comes from the fact that people are unaware that jumping into supercruise also takes small chunks of fuel (so does running around in SC), that's why there are not one but TWO fuel meters. Happened to me, as I calculated that appearing to certain system would leave me around 2-3% fuel which is enough to appear to station. And I usually arrived with spare percent in most of the cases.

Having some random USS bounties claimed on the road (so jumping in and out of supercruise), I quickly realized that I made a grave mistake and I had very little fuel left yet closest station wasn't close enough for 7 minutes oxygen reserves when that kicked in.

In my defence, I flew a combat-oriented DBS with Interdictor, hence no fuel scoop.

When my husband and I were first time out he was doing short range cargo transports so he didn't fit a fuel scoop. A number of things can contribute to running out. Congrats fuel rats!

Happy to be of service, Rats. Here’s to the next 50,000.

I just bought all 3 Alliance ships (Chieftan thru Challenger) and I'm very much going to pick the one I keep based on similarities to Serenity, So.. Opinions?

well it does say how much is used per hour based on what your ship is doing right above your fuel gauge, so I just count it as NPA. (just to clarify in case anyone was wondering, NPA = Not Paying Attention, something we are all guilty of at some point)

Like most recently when I accepted that Wing mission for 64 kills without noticing that it was wing, even though it said the rating was only for competent, the ships it actually drops into the mission specific USS are rated dangerous (though I still have no real trouble taking them down).  It's just really annoying to be fighting ships that are higher rated than the task said they would be cause they take longer to kill.

And I seem to have better luck finding targets in supercruise to interdict than I do for getting mission USS's.

Although I do like that the salvage from their ships wreckage is stuff I'm going to be needing and using for the engineering of modules.

It depends.

While the Alliance ships bear a resemblance to the old Firefly mkIII's, the Alliance ships were designed to combat the Thargoid threat and are much more militarized as a result. Stock Fireflies were not equipped with any armaments.

Firefly mkIII's are notorious for their affiliation smugglers, so the extra class 6 compartment in the Challenger would allow you to hold more cargo than the other two. The Chieftain on the other hand is faster and more maneuverable with a better jump range, like the nimble Firefly. The Crusader's fighter bay could account for the two shuttles, but it's also the slowest and least maneuverable of the bunch.

I would say choose the attributes you like most about Serenity, and a few you could sacrifice. For instance, if you value cargo capacity over agility, go with the Challenger. If you value speed and maneuverability (and jump range) over cargo space, go with the Chieftain. If you want to have shuttles like Serenity, then go with the Crusader.

You will inevitably have to make trade-offs because no ship in Elite looks and performs exactly like Serenity.

Rebecca HailIn other news: the Fuel Rats celebrate their 50.000th rescue \o/

That's fantastic! The Rats saved me big time a couple years back. As well as a fuel rescue about 15k ly out, more recently the pew pew I rushed to help them with got me my Deadly combat rank

I know some people don't understand how people run out of fuel, but I was an explorer that usually knew what they were doing! I had a 4 week old son and had not slept for a few weeks (at least it felt like that). I wasn't burning much fuel each jump, and kept thinking 'next jump I will switch to KBGFOAM' - but I was also sleepily nattering to 'Mrs Bolasie' (about how to ship out the Boom Delivery of Bio Waste we kept receiving) and forgot. So I know if it has never happened it is tempting to say 'git gud', but that's just one of a million and one ways it can happen.

So I raise a salute and a glass to the lovely Rats, and more importantly that ideal of just helping because someone needs help. Bring on the next 50k, and please try to nearly lose your system again so I can get my combat to Elite!!

Just say it was heavily modified, like the Millenium Falcon.
