Frontier Release Notes
Mamba (Zorgon Peterson)
Based on an unreleased racing prototype, the Mamba is one of the fastest ships in production. It can also deliver a lot of punishment, boasting one huge and two large hardpoints. This emphasis on firepower and speed means the ship can hit hard and fast, vanishing before the target has a chance to react. Comparisons to the Fer-de-Lance, also produced by Zorgon Peterson, will be inevitable, but the Mamba is in fact faster in a straight line, while being slightly less maneuverable.
1 huge, 2 large and 2 small hardpoints
5 internal optional slots
Top speed of 316m/s and a boost speed of 387m/s
6.37LY laden FSD range

I think it will be a case of preference / combat style.... I personally don't see speed in a fight as that useful, but I'm no ace pilot. I'd have thought turning is much more important.

WilliamReaceI'm going, haha, taking my aspX, so I've got a second seat and a single rover if you'd prefer.
Although I'm also pretty sure there will be others taking larger ships with extended range fittings and more seats.
I've not done an expedition before but I've read as much as I can about going on one. How does the time zone differences work? Do you team up with folks in your general time zone? What about flying time? If everyone has the same amount of flying time available then good but if someone has to stop for what ever reason they'd get left behind right? I'm thinking maybe a smaller shorter distance expedition might be a good "get your feet wet" kinda thing to get a better understanding on how it's organized. Coriolis says my T6 refit would make a dandy exploration vessel so I'll be working on that while deciding if I'll take the plunge or not. This is it: https://s.orbis.zone/1618 I could swap that Guardian FSD booster out for a repair limpet controller or fuel transfer limpet controller and still have plenty of jump range. Doing more than just being there is a bit more appealing to me.

YIS Jan 13th !
I'm guessing you are going right? What ship are you taking? I really wanna do this but don't know if I'll have a ship ready by then. Leaning towards a refit on my T6. Still need to take a visit out to Aunty Felicity for some FSD and PP tweaks.
Dbx , can't go wrong with one.

Why isn't the Bubble expanding? Humans have an innate nature to not only explore but to colonize, but in the future that is Elite it seems humans are only concerned with half their nature. With all the ELW and WW that have been found by brave explorers in the game, why aren't the Big Three Powers conducting land grabs (or I should say system grabs) like the days of the California Gold Rush? The Galaxy is HUGE. yet we continue to squabble over such a tiny portion of it.

MMMMMalcolmWhile we wait for FDev to update their servers, I have a question for everyone:
Why isn't the Bubble expanding? Humans have an innate nature to not only explore but to colonize, but in the future that is Elite it seems humans are only concerned with half their nature. With all the ELW and WW that have been found by brave explorers in the game, why aren't the Big Three Powers conducting land grabs (or I should say system grabs) like the days of the California Gold Rush? I think it is, but a bigger deal could be made of it in the game. Community Goals add stations, Maia, Robigo, Sothis etc are frontier systems, and there is Colonia and it's local bubble that have all grown in the last couple of years.

Other than Colonia there really hasn't been a "NEW" system added to the Bubble or around it in those years you speak of.
But there have been hundreds if not thousands of habitable systems discovered by Player explorers over that same time span.

MMMMMalcolmThose Community Goals added stations to already populated systems.
Other than Colonia there really hasn't been a "NEW" system added to the Bubble or around it in those years you speak of.
But there have been hundreds if not thousands of habitable systems discovered by Player explorers over that same time span.
Consider that it took 1300 years to expand the bubble to its current size and that a lot of its ressources are pointed inwards rather than outwards. Hyperdrives are a relatively recent development and the rate of expansion might simply not be noticeable in the four year timespan that has passed since the launch of the game.

MMMMMalcolmSo according to the Lore of Elite, we have the technology and resources, but not one Power leader has taken the initiative to allocate those resources to expand further? Am I summing that up right?
Pray tell, what would make more sense?

It costs more to take a system from someone else than it does to claim one not occupied.

I don't get what point you're trying to make.
We have two superpowers interlocked in an arms race and a relatively loose confederation of systems as the three biggest powers. On top of that there's a ton of uncolonized/sparsely colonized/underdeveloped systems in the bubble.
It makes sense that expansion isn't very high on the priority list for the superpowers and even in 3304 it's still quite an undertaking to colonize a system.
MMMMMalcolmIt makes sense but then again it doesn't.
It costs more to take a system from someone else than it does to claim one not occupied.
Well, that depends on how developed the system is.
