Atusia DuvalI think you need an Odyssey version for Powerplay 2.0. Powerplay doesn't work in Elite Horizon. I have the weekly missions every week. In the higher ranks of your power they also become more numerous. For me it's now 10 missions in a week. Ask Elite Dangerous support.

I think I found out the issue by chance... when I downloaded back Elite, for some reason the default download was for the legacy version of Horizon.
That's probably it.

Made some progresses lately, went from 74% to 77% COMBAT Elite Rank1 in 3 days (CZs).

I'm using Premium Ammo to cut the time it takes to kill targets, both with the Krait and the Corvette, although I'll use Standard with the Krait due to the lack of guardian material...

How many hours of game time is that? 72?

Bainsey7I'm trying to purchase 10 'Faction Associates Data' from a fleet carrier and I keep getting:

"transaction error: press OK to exit vendor"

Does anyone know how to fix/bypass/avoid this? I've tried relogging and flipping between open and solo but nothing works.

Any suggestions?

I don't know if there is a fix or work-around, but I have been having horrible problems with FC bartenders since PP2 rolled out. The tender on my own FC will not accept any transfers from me. The game says I have none of the items I want to transfer, yet they are in my inventory. If I try a work-around by selling the items to my bartender, the items disappear from my inventory but never appear in the bartender inventory.

Sounds like something I've seen reported elsewhere too. I haven't checked on my own bartender, out of worry that I'll break something with existing offers/items there.

I thought about playing few hours before lunch but cant come up with an idea what do to there. So, I looked up this list for ideas, made by @Indy.
Chill, I am not reporting back to you. Oh wait, you wont see the reply anyway. LOL

I am using your to build mine. my updates
Indy
  1. Reach Elite rank in two or more areas. - ranks seem to be mostly meaningless, unless you need engineer access
  2. Unlock all the engineers in the game to Grade 5 - did few almost useless ones, grinding one right now
  3. Collect every ship in the game - Most are useless and I never buy crap I do not need
  4. Buy a Fleet Carrier - Got the money but not sure I see the point
  5. Try PVP combat in Open - re-engineering my boat again only to entertain gankers? Sound like fun.
  6. Try PVP combat in CQC (Be warned: It's a steep learning curve and skill gap between regulars and new players.) - I have to look up what CQC is all about
  7. Try AX combat in an AXCZ (Another steep learning curve, but a great community and resources for learning and improving.) - seems to be a joke and I really do not care about AX
  8. Try AX combat Solo (with no NPCs either) - see previous
  9. Find and complete long multi-system trade runs - done that. Truck driving is truck driving. Low pay, long hours. Yawn.
  10. Passenger missions - see previous
  11. Assassination missions (Space) - done, not worth the effort. Same as killing pirates but with extra BS grind sprinkled on top
  12. Unlock ground engineers and upgrade suits/gear - I do not care about ground missions at all
  13. Try ground CZs Solo - see previous
  14. Try ground CZs in Open - see previous
  15. Complete multiple Restore missions (on ground) (You'll need to do this anyhow, if doing the engineer unlock.) see previous
  16. Complete Settlement Defense missions (ground) see previous
  17. Try ground Covert missions (there are multiple types) see previous
  18. Make your own list - Done. This is it
...

Maybe the next update with star system colonisation brings something new, exiting with less boring grind. I doubt that.

Re Frags with Screening Shell:

I did some calculations on Frags and my initial set-up of four large and two medium on the Python Mk2, all with High Capacity and Screening Shell. For the large Frags this means: +11% DPS and ROF, +214% sustained DPS & ROF, -10% burst intervall, +100 ammo clip size & maximum, -50% reload time.

With four pips to WEP this will remove the shields of a stock FdL in 1 second and the armor in one second as well (per Coriolis). The stock Federal Corvette is gone in 2 seconds respectively. Against an engineered FdL it will take 9 seconds to strip the shields and 11 seconds o strip the armor. The only big ship it will have a hard time against is a fully engineered Cutter. BUT: replacing e.g. the mediums with oversized efficient or short range beam lasers does not change a lot here. Quite on the contrary it takes LONGER to drain shields. There is NO WEAPON CONFIGURATION better than the screening shell to drain shields AND armor – IF you enjoy CQC. That is the one downside to it: you have to stay close. But if you manage that, your enemy is toast.

Now for the corrosive shell mod: if you use that on one of the mediums, you better make two fire groups because shooting corrosive on shields is a bit pointless and wastes ammo (which is already lower with corrosive). So you lower your DPS from 412 to 364 for draining shields. It doesn’t change so much against an engineered FdL, just increasing shield removal by one second. It will matter a lot against a Cutter, increasing shield removal by 12 seconds (from 1:20 to 1:32).

If I now switch to the other fire group, including corrosive shell, the now shieldless engineered FdL will be down in 11 seconds (the SAME TIME as without corrosive). The same accounts for the Cutter. I used EDSY and Coriolis to look into this. Now, these tools have some inaccuracies and maybe they underestimate the corrosive effect. If I slap on 25% damage and thus subtract 20% of time for removing armor, I get 9 seconds (with corrosive) instead of 11 seconds (with only screening shell) for both an engineered FdL and my engineered shield tank of a Cutter.

In conclusion: for stripping shields in CQC, the High Capacity/Screening Shell is a beast (btw Rapid Fire, while much larger on DPS, does not improve the removal of shields and armor significantly) with the exception of the Cutter, but the Cutter is its own class with shields. For stripping armor, having one corrosive shell helps with armor a bit but the gain, both from this ”Desk View“ perspective as well as from my ”Field View“ experience, is negligible.

Now, what might be worth experimenting with, instead of slapping corrosive on one medium, is drag munitions. Especially in CQC being able to match the speed and agility of your target is imperative. Drag munitions disrupt engine exhaust flow on the target, temporarily preventing ENG power distribution from increasing thrust. This can improve your time on target, thus making it toast even quicker. Also, it might be worth replacing one medium with a short range rail gun with feedback cascade, to prevent NPCs for firing SCBs and countering your efforts of removing their shields. Especially against a Cutter with SCBs this could be helpful.

So I guess Frontier might soon (finally) stop dilly-dallying around this Thargoid counterattack they've been fumbling around about for the last four... five months. I say it's about time for something interesting to happen (no, Powerplay is not interesting... to me).

There are no clear alert predictions on https://dcoh.watch/alert-predictions (which have been spot on in the past) so I would assume that next Thursday will bring something big. What kind of an attack and where? What do you think?
25 Nov 2024, 9:16pm
What kind of attack, I would expect similar to Shinrarta or worse. Where, that is anyone's guess. I don't have a good one anyway.

And the Overwatch site can't provide a prediction for this because it's likely going to be a hand-placed attack (or a few?) by Frontier. I'd expect somewhere coreward of the Bubble if anywhere, but can't be certain whether it is going to occur this or the next Thursday (Cocijo is very unlikely to be placing any invasions around its perimeter for the remainder of its existence, from here).

(I am referring to Galnet above, if it's not obvious)

It would be funny if my current RP focus that brought me to Sol would throw my character into the center of the next invasion

If FD wants to really push PP2 and Thargoid counter attacks, they should combine the two.

Example:
1) Thargoids attack one or more systems or strongholds controlled by Faction X
2) If engaged in PP2, the player has to decide whether to help Faction X defend the system from the Thargoids, or take advantage of the attack to further the goals of their own faction.

Though not directly assisting the Thargoids, they could engage in PP2 activities in the system (or nearby systems) that would reduce the number of Faction X NPCs defending the target of the attack and increase the number of their own faction NPCs. Maybe Thargoid attacks significantly increase the effectiveness of PP2 activities or provide bonuses to merits if the faction you support ends up offing more bugs than than Faction X.

Rewards could also be tailored to whether the player helps faction X, or helps their own faction gain influence during the attack.

I think that would be much more dynamic than the 'goids attack and then -surprise, surprise- get defeated when everyone and their one-handed, blind, incontinent granny shows up with bug spray.

I think the interaction between Powerplay and Thargoids - as far as I know - is relatively basic. Or at least there was only one patch note point dedicated to an interaction between the two, and maybe on a stream it was mentioned that, basically, when a system is Thargoid invaded Power Pissing gets the boot out and then they have to be shoved back in there once (if?) the invasion is defeated.

... and it would be great (from a player standpoint) if there were actually systems at risk and the ports in them are not magically fixable every time even if they've spent one or two years corroding away in space and exposed to radiation, etc, without any maintenance. Or at least required more work to actually bring back online.
