ThinderI'm re-engineering my Corvette for AX Hunting, I'll post the link to the fit for advises.

Any AX CZ anywhere? I'm not really expert at fighting Xenos, best assisting in CZs...

Oh, Yeah, Q: Is the Bi-Weave shield engineered any good?

Drop into any system with the Thargoid icon on it in the GalMap, select a CZ in the Nav panel, fly to it, pew-pew.
Also, on the flight there or before you even leave your station: turn off "Report Crimes" in your right panel "Ship" tab.

Focus on survivability for your first AXCZs. Don't worry about kills; practice heat management and damage control.

Happy hunting!

And, again, turn off "Report Crimes".

Thanks! I'm gonna engineer two shields for choice (Prismatic and Bi-Weave) and be back ASAP to it.

Dude, you have been building those Thargoid killing ships for a month now... maybe longer.
You still have not seen one up close?

With that VR helmet-goggles of yours, I can only guess, EDSY must be looking much better than the actual game.

If you're going for shield tanking, check out the AXI Ship Build Theory page. The "Shield Tanks" section recommends engineering Prismatics with Reinforced + Hi-Cap.

Personally, I think shields draw too much Thargoid attention, but it makes sense for a Corvette.

Thanks for the advise. I opted for a Bi-weave ENHANCED LOW POWER - GRADE 5 ︎︎︎︎︎ FAST CHARGE, I hope I can rely on low IR signature to avoid being hit, but I have two Class 7 Prismatic in store just in case.

For the weapon fit I went around the corvette weak point with MODIFIED GUARDIAN PLASMA CHARGER [FIXED] by fitting 3 X 2Bs and 2 X 1D MODIFIED GUARDIAN PLASMA CHARGER [FIXED] all close to the central line of the ship.

Previously I tried the two side HARDPOINTS but they are too limited in terms of the little gimbal they can have, very good at long range (Class 2) but useless from medium to close range before too far from the center lime, many shots are lost this way.

De Grasse

I have strong Hull and Module ARMOUR with this fit, I'll see how I manage.

"Play Now" at the end makes it seem like a game trailer/teaser to entice new players into the game. They might be disappointed when they realize the attack on Sol is not the main point of the game, and the attack is concluded in a week or so.

Fair enough. Be ready to switch to the Prismatic, if the Bi-weave isn't holding up and/or you're getting too much attention.

Regarding the weapons, I'm sure you'll have fun using the plasmas; they're "mid-tier" guardian weapons for AX, but should pack a decent punch in concert with eachother on a Corvette. An important heads up though... Guardian Plasma Chargers create a cloud on/around the target which can upset/annoy players who are trying to heart-snipe. If you want to "balance" out that annoyance, carry and use an enhanced xeno scanner so they can benefit from your scans and target hearts through the cloud. (That is assuming you're teamed with them. If not... eh, pick a Low AXCZ and you'll be fine as nobody will be winning any sniping awards in there.)

Regardless, just get in it and fight. You can figure out what works and doesn't once you're feeling out that build.

And that if you want to participate right now, being a new player, you have to buy AX-capable ships for real money. And even with those, the bugs will kick your sorry inexperienced butt.

Frankly, any excitement or interest I had in this evaporated within minutes when Frontier in their ever glorious wisdom decided that the best thing they can provide to thousands of players gathering all in the same area is a dozen shitty invasions with the same godawful "cleared on Thursday evening or Friday morning by a few hundred" balancing, as the supposed high stakes last stand of the Titan.

What even is the point of setting the timer to one week when the bar is so low there is literally zero risk to it? The Shinrarta invasion will turn out to be more difficult than this unless the Titan launches a second wave of captures and invasions next week and actually tries. Way to make it seem absolutely not like they've been preparing for this attack for months without launching any dedicated invasions (with the exception of the aforementioned) and instead just bare minimum commitment while all those resources they've gathered are used for absolutely nothing.

The execution of this is at a rock bottom 0/10 for me right now and it hasn't even been half a day.

...well, at least there's some writing material and those triple Hydras are there again, so I'm having my simple kind of fun. But, yeah, it's an underwhelming type of a 'grand finale', as expected.

Shields doesn't last long but even with those MODIFIED GUARDIAN PLASMA CHARGERS, I can't get those interceptors down, scouts go down in one or two shots..

I guess at least the invasions are not actually quite so weak as to be floored by Thursday evening or something but the execution is strongly lacking and I'm not motivated further to write RP about how it's "such a bad situation" when this is reflected in gameplay about as well as, nothing. Or not at all. Maybe I will shoot some Thargoids around the megaship on my alt if I find any mood to tomorrow or if somehow it has not been taken out by Saturday yet. It's the only one out of those systems I care for anyway, Sirius can rot in hell and the other ones just look like random shitty target practice for Thargoid pilots.

(Considering the average quality of the AX NPC I am not surprised that the Thargoids start to perform horribly when faced with one that is actually competent.)

The wrecks of the rescue ships which their idiot captains decided to fly directly into the Thargoid invaded or the Titan's system are momentarily entertaining to visit, I guess. But there is shove all to be found that somehow relates to this "mysterious Thargoid purpose" to it moving to Sol in the first place and which Frontier are so eager to keep trying to point out. Then GIVE US SOMETHING TO FIND, FOR FUCK'S SAKE. Tired of being led to wild goose chases by then that end up absolutely nowhere. All Sol planets are mapped already and all spawned signals are randomly generated or preset POIs at which to shoot Thargoids so there's no point in looking around there and the Titan is just there giving off Titan noises and otherwise doing what it did around ammonia worlds, except it orbits Earth now.

I fail to see how this is yet worse than the Shinrarta invasion. Sure, more systems are affected but they're individually weak and just don't feel like they are too much at threat. Barely does anything if the Titan was just going to launch this one wave of attacks anyway.

I'm kinda surprised there's no community event revolving around the invasion of Sol...

ChiefcrashI'm kinda surprised there's no community event revolving around the invasion of Sol...

Yup. That's what I was saying earlier and one of the things I ranted about a few minutes ago in the rant corner.
ShinDez got a Community Goal... and this doesn't? Hope that means they're saving something for next week, but today that "hope" is seemingly the problem.
06 Dec 2024, 5:54am
To be fair, Shin didn't need a community goal itself either, the invasion mechanism was the thing for the community to get involved in, allowing both combat and evacuations, while the CG itself acted more as a way to award additional rewards for those who participated in the combat side.

I guess they thought this one didn't need any CGs either and could instead just use the stuff they created for the Thargoid War (and that's totally fine by me). Cannot see anything 'special' happening in the next week either though since they kind of just half-fluffed it with the invasions. I say half-fluffed as they're not actually getting blitzed out of existence in a day... but only half so. Out of the three showing meaningful progress Procyon sits furthest along at ~50%. So I guess maybe some of them may make it to the next week (where they would turn into controls as these have been given a one week timer to do it or lose it, but functionally remain identical to an invasion system without missions, if it's in the right place to get a reactivated port).
06 Dec 2024, 6:42am
All criticism aside, it's probably good to acknowledge that the majority of the player base is excited right now. And deeply involved. For us, an invasion and all the "mechanics" involved might be old hat because we've done it dozens of times. But for the majority of players, this is probably the first time they don't run from Thargoids but engage them (heck, maybe it's the first time the ever seen one up close). And if FDev did one thing well this year, it's bringing in new players in general but also to the Thargoid content. So I'm trying to enjoy the enjoyment (and the fear!) of others and tame my own expectations. And tbf, another Thargoid game mechanic after the Titans and the Spire Sites would've been a bit much probably. My curiosity is now focused on what ramifications the end (?) will have, what's next in store for AX combat and the general human/alien storyline.
