Another game that I loved in the first few hours until the bugs took over too much was "Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines". Holy shit, those first hours were sooooo cooooool...
IMO that game still has the best scripted level ever in form of the "Ocean View Hotel". I've yet to experience something that gets even close to that.
And then of course there were the awesome characters, like Jeanette and Theresa Voerman. If you ever played the game you know why those two are extremly fascinating characters.

I found that worrying about losing your ship before you can cash in your exploration data took a lot of the enjoyment out of long distance voyages, so I didn't tarry on my way to and from Semotus Beacon (this was just before fleet carriers). Next time I explore I intend to head to specific areas and properly take in the sights - it doesn't help that there is relatively little to see once you get beyond Sagittarius A* heading towards Beagle Point.
There are some unique sights everywhere and today thanks to FC, it is possible to cash your exp data more often...

Suits me, no more anguish after getting caught in a neutron star exclusion zone whilst in the jet on the way back from Semotus Beacon, with only 10,000 Ly till the Bubble. That really sucked a lot, I did go straight back but wasn't really in a mood for much sightseeing the second time round and only scanned valuable bodies rather than try and put my name on everything, especially on the way there, only really started taking in the scenery after Sagittarius A*.

ArcBlade72Hey guys. I finished in the top 75% of the cargo delivery mission in the last Community Goal. I had already claimed my money before Fdev extended the rewarded FSD from top 25% to top 75%. I have not seen it, so I flew out to Spirit of Nysa, it isn't there. How do I get it?
It should show up anywhere under Outfitting | Stored Modules - if you don't see it maybe raise a ticket to fdev?

MarcOmegaIMO, if you want to engage in PvP because it is what you want to do and you enjoy it, then more power to you. If you let someone else dictate how you play ED by their actions, you are only encouraging them to continue with the behavior you objected to in the first place. The best response to a ganker is to block/ignore them because they are feeding on your response, whether that is to complain or take up a crusade against them.
Play the game YOU want to play, that is the best response to any other player and the best revenge for any ganker.
100% that.
ZentzlbYou think you are getting revenge by blocking? Blocking breaks instancing so the more players you block the harder it is for you to instance with anyone. The ganker isnt missing out on not getting to gank you a second time.
As explained earlier, Gankers and Griefers thrive off attention, they want and need the interaction because that is their way to play. And MarcOmega was simply referring to that everyone can play as they like, which includes to not give a damn, put someone on a block list and be done with it.
Blocking breaks instancing alright, which works to the benefit of anyone not inclined to do PvP and still fly in Open. You blocked one person that is winged up with 3 others, which means you can expect the same type of attitude from his or her buddies towards you. Which means you got rid of 4 people you have no desire to meet, perfect in my book.
ZentzlbHowever, this is exactly the attitude I would expect from Ghost Legion, complain about gankers and do absolutely nothing about it.
On the contrary, we did and do something about them, just not in the way you'd expect. But since you aren't in The Code anymore you wouldn't know about that. Speaking of which, why you're still listed with them? Wasn't Artie able to help?

First, Gankers know exactly how the block function works. So, if they want to club baby seals and they are being "hunted" by experienced PvP players, they will simply block those players so they can continue to play ED the way THEY choose to. And we know from other PvP'ers doing the research that is the case. Gankers aren't interested in a fair fight, nor are they interested in real challenging PvP, if they were, they wouldn't be clubbing baby seals to begin with, but would instead be seeking out real challenges.
Your advice seems to be relegated to advising someone new to the game to go through the entire grind for engineering, at least a week or two of dedicated effort, grinding the credits for building a shipyard of PvP dedicated ships, building the dedicated skills for PvP, and then trying to hunt down a single or small group of players, months after the original gank to get revenge, just to find they can't instance with them anyway or that they have already gotten bored with seal clubbing and left for other games, or blocked the person because they realized they were being hunted.
Of course, your advice has nothing to do with the fact that you are a PvPer, right? You just have their best interests at heart.
Second, the schoolyard taunts won't work on me, I am over the age of 12. Good luck trying that with someone immature enough to actually rise to the bait.
Third, when you start receiving flak, you know you are over the target. My advice stands, the best revenge is living well. And in ED, that means playing the game the way you choose to play it, enjoying every minute of what is, IMO, one of the best values you get from any game, and not letting any other player spoil your enjoyment.

Tony was entertaining as a stream sniper, but that Hollatja stunt was just lame. Even if trolling/griefing is your thing, you'd get little entertainment out of his wankfest.
But there are positive examples, too. CMDR ACowForAllSeasons streamed from Hollatja that night, too, but he actually had a newbie in voice chat and was showing him the ropes, answering questions etc. Good stuff.

I concur. I know all pirates and 'gankers' are not alike. I had an inkling that E:D society would be a reflection of RL. Therefore I left to find my first home station in Solo. I stayed that way for some weeks whilst I learnt more about the game and even the term 'gankers'. Even now, in my a A rated and engineered Corvette, without a wing I can be prey to a 'pack' of gankers because I'm set up for PVE not PVP.
I don't often write about this on Inara or step into existing conversations, because of the inevitable onslaught of disagreement. But surely, people can see that if you're a kid and new to E:D, and don't know that Solo is the way to play whilst you get better and join a squadron, Inara, Discord etc... then being 'bullied' or in this case virtually murdered, is not the 'nicest' introduction to the E:D community.
Whilst I don't always agree with Zentzlb and Wolfmanwolf, I accept their POV and admire the fact that they are on Inara taking part in the conversation. I joined the GER on Discord because of them to learn more. As engaged members of the E:D community, we have an opportunity on Inara to demonstrate tolerance, acceptance and the best part of humanity. I implore you all to join me in that journey.
To conclude, I was a high school teacher in between my time in the Army and Air Force. The extreme end of ganking IS bullying. Make no mistake about it. Real or virtual it has consequences and no amount of self justification can defend that. If you know that is what you do and you choose to continue, then God help us all. I'm happy to meet gankers of all types in RL. Happy to describe to you how conflict affects real people... my friends who did not come back and those who did, but left a part of their soul behind. Here endeth the lesson?
i am so with this. It is Bullying (this is when you are ganked with no cargo and no weapons) - there is no fun. I got ganked early in my ED career and it kept me off the game for a couple of months. What annoyed me most is there is no real punishment for the GANKER. Also the ganked end up loosing more (in my case I was back to 10 grand and my side winder (which luckily I had A rated and stored) had it not been, then i probably would not be in this game now. What also leaves a bad taste in my mouth is the gloating afterwards. ( i know i can ban these players but I feel that this is counter intuitive to the game) so I play in solo as I gather resources and skills.
You are kind of missing the point of this game. I hear so many people complaining that gankers dont get punished for their actions, it is up to the player base to punish the gankers. If half the people I hear complaining actually learned how to fight and joined together against the outlaws the galaxy would be a much safer place. Saying "gankers bad" on reddit or on Inara or on the forums does nothing for anyone. Here go join the fight.
No you are missing the point - if I was pirated for my goods then that is fair, I was pirated for my goods and I decide too fight and loose then that is fine and good. But I f I have nothing to fight with or be stolen off there is no fun for the receiving player. It is you (the ganker/griefer) imposing your playstyle on players who are not in this game for that gameplay. I have other games for the violence inside me. Just being ganked or griefed because you can do it, is no justification for doing so. With all these new plyers since the weekend, the gankers are having a field day ruining new players experience which in turn is making some of them leave the game. This is not good for the game. The saddest thing about these gankers is that when the odds are against them they run. Basically gankers and griefers are the highest form of cowards.

this here is a prime example of a coward. Bragging about ruining 30 new players game the day before - calling it the Epic Seal Club - what an arsehole

Rinzler_009Gankers are only willing to fight when they have the advantage.. otherwise they just run or call his friends for aid.
This is my normal play style even against NPCs. I only fight when I feel like I can have the advantage or push myself/the ship. If things go south I attempt to leave the scene. If I had friends to call I would do that as well.

SakashiroThe current loop is: look bored, roll eyes, squint sideways, repeat...
This is what I look like reading this forum so maybe that is what they modelled?

Totally understandable, run to fight another day. I like duels but i know that not all players like that style, especially if i am entering in a hot system. But if u have the guts to attack sidewinders, have the guts to accept defeat and get eaten by a bigger fish....
There is always a bigger fish than you...
