SakashiroEngineer unlock progress lags behind, too. It's normal.

Also I found out that if you engineer modules, log out, and then import to Inara, the mod info isn't up to date. That's apparently not Inara's fault, because if you log out, then in, then out again, and THEN import to Inara, it'll be correct.

For me at least, using EDMC in parallel with Inara keeps the updates almost 'real time'. Combined with ED Discovery they seem to be a great combo with the always fantastic Inara.

I myself am not convinced that we'll be heading into a Fed-Imperial war anytime soon as neither the Feds or the Empire are really ready for one due to their internal problems.

The Federation is currently not stable enough to risk one, because if the hints that Hudson may indeed have been involved with the assasination attempt on former President Halsey it would suddenly be leaderless... something you do not want in the middle of an ongoing war.

The Empire on the other hand first has to get rid of the NMLA before being able to start a war like that. Why? Because the NMLA has proven at least twice already (with the assassinations of Prince Harold Duval as well as the attempt on Hadrian Augustus Duval) that they can quite easily infiltrate the most secure facilities inside the Empire. That would be too much of a security risk during a full-scale war with the Federation.

So no, I think until those two problems have been taken care off this is just a lot of sabre-rattling (though I will admit, since those sabres easily way several megatons in form of their respective capital ships, the rattling is rather loud).

I wouldn't be so sure about internal strife preventing war. Multiple times throughout irl history an outside war is utilised to distract and unify the internal problems of a nation. An outside threat is used as an excuse to get everyone to forget about whatever they were arguing about and focus on fighting this new enemy.

WW1 helped Britain initially, as it distracted Labour Unions and Women's Sufferage. One argument I've seen medieval historians (I'm one myself) present for the reasons the First Crusade was called was to partly act as a outlet for European infighting and to strengthen the position of the Papacy - France was unstable, and the German Emperors had been arguing with the Popes for decades, and after the first Crusade France became a little more stable and the Pope had gained a huge boost to his authority.

In ED, I'd say a war would definitely be a good thing for at least Zachary Hudson's interests - it would potentially serve as a distraction from the investigation into his link to the death of President Halsey, and his more bellicose attitude would prove far more popular than Winter's more peaceful approach if a war did start. It happens in real life - the beligerant politicians get a boost in popularity as soon as a war starts. In a way the NMLA blowing up Kepler Orbital was suspiciously convenient for Hudson - it played into his hands by making Felicia Winters look as if she had just allowed terrorists into the Federation with open arms.

As for the Empire, well a war could be great, or terrible depending on how they handle it. Since the NMLA are democratic revolutionaries, and Marlinists in general are supporters of democracy, the Empire could use a war with the "democratic" Federation as an excuse to brand all Marlinists as potential security threats, allowing them to more harshly persecute them. Depending on how they handle that, the Empire could either utilise a war to erradicate the NMLA, or they could really screw it up and make things worse. The alternative route could be that more diplomatically minded people within the Empire may try and seek to use a war with the Federation to temprarily unify Traditionalists and Marlinists against a common enemy, but I think this is incredibly unlikely.

For Denton Patreus especially, a war could be extremely beneficial, or downright end his career. To put it briefly, if the war goes well for the Empire, or even just not bad, it'll make Patreus look good - as with Hudson, he's a more bellicose politician. If it goes badly though, it's very likely a large portion of the blame will fall on his shoulders, and that's the last thing Patreus needs.

Really a war would be a gamble - It could be used to fix, or at least distract from internal problems, but whichever side loses are going to see their problems become a whole lot worse.

Well written... my lecturers at RMAS would have approved!

EpisparhHint for the BH CGs:

For Feds: you go to Nelson Dock in LHS 54 and stack pirate assassination/massacre missions for Parutis system. Killing pirates and handing them in Schweickart City.

For Imps: you go to NLTT 9447 plenty of RES. The System is controlled by Artemis Corporation so you kill there but claim vouchers at Miyasaka Orbital in MANDH.

Ah. Thanks Epi. Favoriting.

Tx too Epi... I've left this CG a bit late so need to catch up! For Fed, are those pirates in RES or CZ or just flying around mostly? I could not see Parutis Crimson Faction Pirates in the RES's.

When you get missions they spawn signal sources which can be identified by scanning nav beacon or using FSS.

SaromonIs it normal when selling exploration data on a carrier, not to progress on the Exploration rank?

I think it is supposed to count. But, IIRC, if you are looking directly at progress when you are selling data, you may need to log out and back in to see the results. I don't think the progress updates in real time.

Sometimes naval rankings don't automatically update when you hand missions in either, it usually takes a few minutes.

It did updated after I relog. Thanks all.

I disagree with "NMLA" being called "democratic revolutionaries". Ever since they bombed stations and took away a lot of civilian lives, they are nothing more but spineless terrorists with no actual political affiliation. By bombing a Federal station they just confirmed they don't seek freedom and safety but chaos and destruction, using democracy like a toilet paper.

I have a theory of what might happen if either side wins or loses this Imp vs Fed war, stick with me:
If the Federation wins, Hudson might get away with the Starship One shenanigans.
If the Federation loses, we might see an impeachment, if that still exists by now, and see a new President.
If the Empire wins, they might be able to eliminate the NMLA terrorists.
If the Empire loses, we might see the now-weak Empire's regime get toppled with democracy replacing it. Keep in mind that if the neo-marlinists get their way and try to make their own government, they would have no clue what to do.

There isn't a winner in that theoretical war, unless it's the Alliance. and the Club.

Well... maybe the Thargoids. They ain't done yet.

I recently spotted a Fleet Carrier in a system, and the FC Name Plate said: "My wife is a Thargoid"

So since humans and thargoids are now procreating... I would say you are correct.
