nerfing boosters will only make fights less lengthy then they already were.

BurstarIf people wanted to just play Elite for entertaining space combat that is fair they can easily join CQC. That is what it's there for, but few do precisely because of how little the stakes are, and more notably, how predictable it is.

The issue for me with CQC is that I can't fly the ship I built myself against others who built theirs. It has nothing to do with the stakes.

But that is the charm of CQC - things are predictable and kind of balanced. My only issue is that whenever I try it I am left in the queue for hour and I gave up.

"Charm" sure, i mean, It is what it is. I haven't participated for a fair while, actually since I came back to ED after a long hiatus and was absolutely terrible at it, mind you I still hadn't remembered all of the important keybinds for combat, it was that soon I gave it a go. I am sure now I would be better but then yes, the queue is quite something, especially during the inevitable ridiculous timezone one lives and plays in.
I can setup sparring with squad mates quicker and will usually teach me more. Mostly how much better I need to be to beat them.

My issue with cars hurting the environment is that they can't fly and has nothing to do with their poor fuel economy

What a fantastic analogy, shame it's irrelevant.

If you want to talk cars, it's like wanting to race and only racing in bumper cars, sure it's fun as a one off, but what If I could build the car I want to race and race against others that do the same, Oh i don't know, like the Car racing scene perhaps.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Let me fix it for you

What a fantastic analogy, shame the analogy is irrelevant.

You cannot tell other people what they like to do in game is irrelevant. When clearly it is not.

CQC is great for those who have neither a tank nor a racing car, but some sort of family van they bought on a loan and don't want to ruin just yet.

It is also good for honing base fighting skills against tougher opponents than NPC's. However, no substitute for a Full engineered encounter with a fellow Engineered Commander or an encounter in the wild.

James HussarI tried to name a ship of mine something, and a particular three-letter substring in one of the words was deemed offensive and I could not use it. Several of my ships end up with asterisks in some scenarios but not others. Which only tells me this part of Elite was coded by an intern. At least I hope that having "worked as a real-world, no really, game development company" looks good on a resume.

Does the profanity filter setting have any impact on that? Because I've turned mine off, and I've yet to see a fleet carrier name that is in any way censored.
03 Dec 2020, 7:41am
Censorship for ship names is universal, the filter has no bearing.

Common Profanity in many languages is automatically filtered from whole words to protect against cleverly disguised insults, slurs or profanity.

This just means you need to be a little more creative with your naming.
03 Dec 2020, 7:42am
Hm. I think we need more profane-named FC's.
03 Dec 2020, 7:43am
So, the imperial capital ship will be inferior to Federation's counterpart. I bet they will be compensating with a golf course and a hot tubes.
03 Dec 2020, 7:46am
Oh for FC's though, I am not sure, there are definitely some interesting names there for sure.
