Dirty + Drag is the fastest combo. Weight is the second biggest effect on your speed so control that for more zoom zoom.

For the power distributor, you can go smaller and have it engine focused or, chard enhanced if ya goin multi role.

I usually go for Armoured Powerplant as it gives you a lil more power, but it also ups your ships' weight. Controlling your heat may help, but if ya after speed then the Guardian Power Plant tends to be lighter for most ships and therefore increase your speed.

If it helps, this is my racing ship.

Synthya WylderIf I wanted to pilot a flying warehouse, it'd be the Type-10. I like the idea of 'porcupine'.

I considered it, but the price smarts, not to mention the turreted weapons I’d need, because there is no way in hell I’d be able to keep anything more agile than dead Capital ship in my sights for any period of time.

Man, you can do more than this with type 10. Check Rui depression channel on youtube for quality type 10 content, lol.

While I rarely play in anything other than Solo, with the exception of PG or winged with squadron mates, my interest has been in that of defense, since I've not been focused in combat, & specifically, not initiating it. I do heartily approve of the attacker adding to my coffers though.

DescartesAny general suggestions on engineering upgrades to power plant, thrusters and power distributor in order to increase speed? e.g. clean/dirty enhanced, overcharged etc

Also, the best  power supply, thrusters and power distributor for fast Viper III?

For some builds dirty / drive distribution engines give more speed than dirty / drag drives

NuzioOk, so I just tried participating in a civil war thing, and I got my shit rocked. Is there a general idea of when you're ready to participate these kind of events? Because the missions I'm pretty SURE said Harmless but I was running into experts and deadly and Dangerous with the various competent here and there, and even the competent was tough to beat. Could be mistaken. Could also just be my current ship isn't up to the task?

If you were flying in your listed Cobra, I’d say you were pushing your luck a little. An E-rated shield is fairly useless, for one thing. I’m also questioning your use of burst lasers over pulse lasers, but that could just be personal preference.

If I were you, I’d wait a little before entering combat zones and stick to low or normal res sites until you’re adept at flying and have some money to at least upgrade your shields.

I’m sure there are others who would also crit your build a bit - I don’t know if you really need an interdicter at this stage....

I upgraded to the Asp Explorer last night, so im in that. It sounds like I need to get better shields and stuff, as well as build my bank back up. Got it.

My favorite ship, although it has a couple of drawbacks:

1. It doesn’t stop very fast, which can be a small issue.
2. canopy tends to shatter in combat.

That said, it’s an awesome explorer, and is wonderful for courier missions and fast cargo missions. First thing to do is A rate and engineer your FSD...

hi guys - not sure this is the right place but i have a question.... so i got a 2nd account free with epic games mainly for messing about in - but i've decided to do this weeks cg with the alt account but whenever i get to a system and d-scan it - it is already showing all planets etc and when i get to a station and go to universal cartography to sell the data it's showing that i  have no data for the systems i d-scanned - even tho i know i have never visited that system before in the alt account - i'm guessing it's pulling the system data stored somewhere on my pc that i have been through with my main account?? does anyone know how to counter this?

sorry - just to add an edit to this - i have just checked one of the systems with my main account and i havent actually been there so now i have no idea why the system data would be showing for my alt account??? any clues anyone?

And agility...I was thinking of doing distribution on my cutter, which skids like crazy....

Dirty with Drive being better is an exception to the rule on a very few builds, like a striped down Plant being lighter than the Guardian option. On a few ship the stried PP is lighter, but not many.

Test out the advice in a ship builder before committing to any recommendations.

If you want to focus on making some money right now with low risk, I really recommend trying out core mining. It can be a drag but is way better than standard mining IMO. The Asp also makes a perfect core miner, size for everything you want, good jump range for market access and medium pad size for access to outposts. Check out this build, with a hull full of void opals which often sell for 1.25 mil plus you will only need to do a couple trips to have a nice account balance. Also I know this is engineered, but the build works without any engineering and is in your budget.

As far as the using the Asp for combat, I wouldn’t recommend it. Especially being new to combat, it doesn’t turn that well and for a medium ship makes a big fat target. Personally I love seeing high rank Asp enemies since they are so easy to pop. Besides at that price point the vulture begins to become a possibility, it’s what I used to learn and I’m sure you’ve heard it recommended before. Great ship especially with some moderate engineering to PP, Thrusters and FSD, which you can get from Farseer (G1 Overcharged + Monstered, G3 Dirty + Drag, G5 range + deep charge, respectively).

Anyway, keep the Asp. It’s a money maker, great shuttle, and good for grabbing engineering mats. Stick to what the Asp does well, go pretty fast in a straight line, and jump far. Great for avoiding enemies. For right now I would drop the military composite as it’s pricey and get a better shield, as Claude says the canopy likes to crack so once the shields are down your pretty much toast anyway.

Sorry for the block of text, hope this is helpful!

It was very helpful, thank you. It sounds like I may have made an error. Tempted to go and get my cobra MK III back, though Im making a decent amount right now even with the less than stellar performance in combat of the asp. I'll have to look up a replacement combat vehicle and keep my Asp around for....everything else (Courier, shipping, mining, exploraiton, e.t.c.) Something that would be nice is to join a squadron to meet with some fellow players. Playing solo ain't bad but gets lonely and a little boring, especially on the long drives.
Again, thank you for the advice!

Amata LireinSomething I noticed in the last few days, but am not sure if I'm imagining it:

I'm currently still in the Mandh system, helping Artemis Corporation with keeping control of the system.

I'm playing in a private group. I noticed that since the end of the CG the number of NPC traffic going in and out of Miyasaka Orbital has dropped significantly. And during the event the NPC traffic seemed to somewhat mirror what players seemed to be piloting in open, with a lot of Cutters, T7s and T9s coming through.

Has anyone else noticed something similar in their PG or solo play?

Cool, nice to see someone else helping out Artemis. I'm not with them, but I figure it woulf nice to help them hold on to the system.

As I don't know how BGS works: How many days must Artemis lead during an election to win it?

Elections last 7 days. If you would like to know more about BGS please pm me, right now things are well a bit different since the buff to bounty missions.

I did something similar back when I started, with Viper, then first AspX being miner, and DBX for exploration/material gathering, which I use to this day.

If you are after combat, may I suggest Vulture as clean way to go from Viper. I still love engine sounds in that ship and I would just fly it from time to time just for that.

As for later upgrade from AspX, Python is best all around ship, but with much higher price than rest of ships mentioned here.
