GALNET - 08 DEC 3306 - Marlinist Refugee Crisis Grows Critical
Hundreds of thousands of political refugees who fled from the Empire to the Federation have brought both superpowers to the brink of conflict.
The Marlinists, who believe in restructuring the Empire into a republic, escaped crackdowns in several Imperial systems during a hunt for Neo-Marlinist terrorists.
The Federation has provided temporary safe haven for the refugees. However, security concerns proved to be justified when the NMLA bombed a Federal starport where captured members were being held.
The Federal Security Service provided this update:
“The Marlinists themselves have informed us of more individuals among them with NMLA connections. The risk of terrorism from this population is now low, although it’s impossible to know exactly how many have been radicalised.”
There have been heated debates in Congress over granting citizenship to the Marlinists. President Hudson insisted that “all illegal aliens must be deported”, and has strengthened the Federal Navy as a defensive measure in light of the Empire’s warnings.
Conversely, Shadow President Winters argued that “turning away starving refugees to face imprisonment and discrimination would be immoral”. She also noted that the same principles of democratic representation found in Marlinism are enshrined in the Federal Accord.
This disagreement between the Republican and Liberal Parties has led to stalemate, with the fate of the Marlinists hanging in the balance.

Over the last week or so I have a problem where system chat is unavailable. It might come back on for a while and then drop out time frame: hours). At these times the system chat has a message about not being subscribed (or something like that).
So I don't know what it is but maybe it is the same problem.

Oh yes, the Empire made the completely unbiased assertion that there were terrorists among the marlinist refugees and suggested without any ulterior motive that they should all be given back to be execu- ... I mean "properly trialed"
I wonder why the Federation chose to not believe the just and very nice Empire, when it only wanted to help. After all the Empire is very open to change and political movements that don't pander to the established line.

It's not so hard to make some group hated. There are subcultures that used to be (or still are) associated with demons, dark magic or pornography, just because the older generations (or even people from the same generation) couldn't grasp ideas behind these subculture.

MAVERICKbirdySo, what’s the general consensus on the recent tweaks to the bounty hunting payouts? Good? Bad?
I do no know about General consensus but I can give you my opinion
- Changes to BH and assassination / massacre missions looks nice.
- Changes to war/civil war combat bonds looks nice as well although I did not had the chance to try it for myself. Perhaps tonight.
- AX combat bonds is where I get mixed feelings. In general pay and rank progression changes are positive, although it is considered a nerf to rank progression contribution by killing scout. My main issue is that people who are abusing gibbing/instant kill of interceptors will have wrong stimulus to continue doing that. Maybe a fix to this is needed for my complete satisfaction.

I'd say, considering that the venue is space-based, simply spacing them might be enough. Unless, their water, nutrients, etc. would be better off sent to the reclamation centers & recycled for the raw materials. "Waste not, want not."

I can be subjective but given how low-paid hanging in our RES (no more than 3 million per hour, not speaking about Assassination/Massacre missions here) in comparison to mining was and after four years since I started playing ED...
