Elite: Game talk

Hi guys, i need a bit of help with something...
I definitively love this game and i wish to know about next expansion preorder (because i'm new player i miss Cobra MK IV what is my pain from day 2 of the game) well... Cobra MK IV is cheap and have a lot of Optional Internals whats make it perfect ship for early game and USS searching.
Anyway the thing is... I was asked Support of the game and i'm concern now because they "don't have any information" about available prepurchase of DLC Odyssey on Epic Game store... For this moment they don't have any "plans" to release the DLC there, and they say that would be "unusual to see it locked to a specific distributor", but there is also no information from Epic Game store about any DLC...

And because i don't want to waste my time to making a progres (i'm in middle of unlocking engineers) so I was considering to buy new game via steam of Frontier website with DLC and the price for both are around 70-80$. In other way i can buy a old account from 2014 year with Lifetime Expansion Pass for the same price. So i'm not sure what to do

Pleas help me, s buying a game account something very bad?

I'm not sure what you are describing is a problem. I bought the original Elite Dangerous through Steam. Then I bought the Horizons expansion directly from Frontier. After setting up the Elite Launcher from Horizons, I have no problem starting the Elite version (no Horizons) from the same launcher.

Now Horizons is/should be free/included with Elite.

I don't know how Odyssey will be set up, but if they do it the same way, you should be able to buy Odyssey, and identify yourself as the same Commander you have now with Elite. I'm expecting "it just works". There has been no information either way - but if Odyssey requires everyone to start from a new Commander, there will be a lot of cranky people, so I expect Frontier will not do that.

I'm unsure whether this might help, but I did go to the Frontier website & bought the Deluxe Alpha pre-order... & saw 3 products included; the launcher (which I downloaded & tried, & it tried to launch the game via Epic, which I don't want; my current E:D launches & plays directly. On my alt Sappho, since she got the free E:D game via Epic, she has to go through Epic, it seems.) & the Alpha, & tried downloading that which took me to an "invalid" page, & the OST which I also tried & it did the same thing.

After going to Frontier's support site (GAWDS, what a difficult headache that is to navigate!) I did finally get to some Q&A which, ultimately, said that the Odyssey-specific items will be available "in early 2021".

Gepard, I'm not sure if this answers your question. You might be looking at trying to have some back&forth with Frontier game & account support.

Hey, are any other PS4 CMDRs unable to play tonight? For some reason I can log in, but get a message that the servers are down.

What’s going on? Is there some unannounced maintenance work going on?

EDIT: It’s unborked itself now. I can play. Very weird, though.

Am I the only one bothered by the word skin?

"Gain access to the exclusive Pioneer suit skin"

This looks like exclusive paint job not like suit version of cobra mk4.

Well... there is no more question anymore

i just checked Epic game store and they added a DLC in last day LOL.

But if you want clarify - I was Asking Epic and Frontier support few days ago about future DLC and both answered "we don't know" so i was thinking that i maybe need to buy a new game (not from epic game store) because Epic launcher is different then Frontier/Steam and can be not compatible with DLC bought somewhere else.

Perhaps Frontier don't want 5 more years of 'Johnny come lately' players bleating about not having an exclusive ship...

As a skin is just a cosmetic (and I'll guess is nothing special either - for the same reasoning) there is no perceived 'pay to win' with it

Sir Sprocketto7 CMDRs how are we all today. Quick question, I am planning my 1st long range exploration and would like to know the best way of logging off the game and leaving my ship in the void? m new to the game so have always docked at a station, please advise?

10-15mins before finishing a 'session' I started scanning systems for landable planets with geological signals. Land on one of those for the night. then, next session i nip out in my SRV and collect some engineering mats. I was out in the Black for about 2 months and max'd out on loads of resources AND it broke the monotony of constant jump, honk, FSS / DSS.

Yeah, I prefer it that way too as I am "Johnny come lately as Frontier marketing failed to reach me".

... but then the early access means only exclusive cosmetics and the deluxe version grants you only the role of alpha tester on top of that.

Which begs the question "Why bother at all?"
