Amata LireinAs I don't know how BGS works: How many days must Artemis lead during an election to win it?

Elections last 7 days. If you would like to know more about BGS please pm me, right now things are well a bit different since the buff to bounty missions.

Aleisrxhi cmdrs is somthing wrong with the sell of painite

Mining got nerfed, again.

Mining did get nerfed, but I think this current VO issue is people selling all they accumulated in FC. According to FDev, VO price should be around 1.3mil.

I was able to sell some Musgravite fir but over 1 mil per. (made over 400mil)

So I guess this means Artemis needs to win 4 of the 7 days to win it all?

SmalooFor the current CG, do you have to Surface Scan the ammonia worlds you find for them to count? Or can you just find them on the FSS?

For the CG, an FSS scan will net you 1 point, a detailed surface scan will net you 3 points. And as stated you get way more in credits for a surface scan.

My tactic has been to pick a distance that you are willing to travel from the star (say 2000 ls), and if it is further than that, just FSS the amonia and jump out to the next one, i've managed to get into the top 10 in a couple of hours doing this.

Another peice of advice is to be in Solo when you jump into the station to cash it in - i got blown up by a ganker the first time i entered the system.

Tx Claude and Rocky. Advice much appreciated.

It actually depends on a few things, however I do assume you are talking about a faction?

Player faction, Artemis Corporation. The CG in the Mandh system somehow f'd up their influence in the system, and now they are in an election and at risk of losing control over it via Miyasaka Orbital. They asked on the forums to help them with keeping contol.

Amata LireinSomething I noticed in the last few days, but am not sure if I'm imagining it:

I'm currently still in the Mandh system, helping Artemis Corporation with keeping control of the system.

I'm playing in a private group. I noticed that since the end of the CG the number of NPC traffic going in and out of Miyasaka Orbital has dropped significantly. And during the event the NPC traffic seemed to somewhat mirror what players seemed to be piloting in open, with a lot of Cutters, T7s and T9s coming through.

Has anyone else noticed something similar in their PG or solo play?

I'm still a few pages behind the present-day posts but yeah I've been hanging around trying to help here and there as well, I have noticed a decrease myself. Been a mix of solo/open as I've been having system/squad/dm comms errors sadly.
06 Dec 2020, 2:10am
Didn't realize they put out a full post asking for help, thought it was just folk realizing and being on the generous side. Just recently pulled out because I need to put my focus elsewhere for now but I've spent two days putting in the odd jobs to help them. Such a shame what's happening. Hoping to see them remain in control. Will try to return shortly if possible. o7

First off I would say thank you to both of for being willing to help.

Secondly, I dont believe it was the CG that messed it up, there are some of us across the BGS community that have seen very strange things the last few days, and the conclusion is because of the nerf and buff implemented by Fdev, and the influx of new free accounts by epic, the status quo has been wildly thrown off. It has caused many to scramble to save their systems.

It really has been crazy BGS wise the last few days. Thanks Fdev.

I missed that myself.

What would you describe as being the status quo? I'm interested to hear about some of the impacts of the recent changes.
Also funny how TF2 had a big thing with free to plays "messing things up" and now it seems similar is happening with Elite
I'm watching history repeat itself before my very eyes, lovely.

Ok when bounty was worth less, then the amount you had to have in that category was high, so with them being worth more, people are doing less of them, thinking its the credit amount that matters, I personally do not believe that to be true, however that being said, murder missions are now worth more too as you not only get the mission credits, but you get the bounty for that as well. Couple that with a whole bunch of new accounts scattered all over the galaxy be the true new accounts or alternate, and they end up in your system, doing missions, and what not it really messes with influence, and to top that off, it seems the other 'normal' work one does, Trade, exploration, and regular influence missions, no longer seem to carry as much weight, or at least this is what some of us are seeing.
06 Dec 2020, 3:41am
Could it also just be that there's far less people doing "normal work" or is it really just that "normal work" has been altered to not do as much? Also considering Artemis has control of the system, doesn't that mean that during the resource CG they would've had influence gained over that? I know very little of the BGS stuff so my apologies.

Ha! to those of us who study BGS it seems we know less each day!

BGS is a fickle and unpredictable thing sometimes and it stymies most of us.

There are those who are 'experts' and seem to have all the answers until they dont work...

No need to apologize, since I started ED I have plunged my head into BGS and I am still confused every other day or so.

Someone once said, "Everything everyone does effects BGS, so since we dont know what everyone really does..."

I upgraded to the Asp Explorer last night, so im in that. It sounds like I need to get better shields and stuff, as well as build my bank back up. Got it.

If you want to focus on making some money right now with low risk, I really recommend trying out core mining. It can be a drag but is way better than standard mining IMO. The Asp also makes a perfect core miner, size for everything you want, good jump range for market access and medium pad size for access to outposts. Check out this build, with a hull full of void opals which often sell for 1.25 mil plus you will only need to do a couple trips to have a nice account balance. Also I know this is engineered, but the build works without any engineering and is in your budget.

As far as the using the Asp for combat, I wouldn’t recommend it. Especially being new to combat, it doesn’t turn that well and for a medium ship makes a big fat target. Personally I love seeing high rank Asp enemies since they are so easy to pop. Besides at that price point the vulture begins to become a possibility, it’s what I used to learn and I’m sure you’ve heard it recommended before. Great ship especially with some moderate engineering to PP, Thrusters and FSD, which you can get from Farseer (G1 Overcharged + Monstered, G3 Dirty + Drag, G5 range + deep charge, respectively).

Anyway, keep the Asp. It’s a money maker, great shuttle, and good for grabbing engineering mats. Stick to what the Asp does well, go pretty fast in a straight line, and jump far. Great for avoiding enemies. For right now I would drop the military composite as it’s pricey and get a better shield, as Claude says the canopy likes to crack so once the shields are down your pretty much toast anyway.

Sorry for the block of text, hope this is helpful!

It was very helpful, thank you. It sounds like I may have made an error. Tempted to go and get my cobra MK III back, though Im making a decent amount right now even with the less than stellar performance in combat of the asp. I'll have to look up a replacement combat vehicle and keep my Asp around for....everything else (Courier, shipping, mining, exploraiton, e.t.c.) Something that would be nice is to join a squadron to meet with some fellow players. Playing solo ain't bad but gets lonely and a little boring, especially on the long drives.
Again, thank you for the advice!

This coming from a person who usually plays in Solo unless in a PG or winged up with others, & who doesn't focus on Combat, but I got my AspX, exactly for what's it's known: a great jumper. I could have gotten a DBX, but it's a small ship & I already had my Cobra.

I agree with the exposed/vulnerable canopy, a common design theme for Lakon ships, I'm afraid. I really don't care that they all look boxy & utilitarian, it's that exposed canopy that presents the pilot right out front & an easy target. Kind of like, placing the driver of a cab-over delivery truck sit on the front bumper...

I also agree with getting the Python for a great multi-purpose mid-size ship, soon as you can afford it, but keep in mind, a ship is like a woman... the rigging costs more than the hull, & ofc, "Never Fly Without Re-Buy!" The Python can haul a good bit of cargo, & also defend itself well, & even fight; it's a tough all-rounder, IMO.

For combat ships, ask others. My interest has been in avoiding it, & if unable, then a good defense until I can get away.

I use my AspX quite a bit, & A-rated everything where it counts, & D-rated what didn't. I don't have anything engineered or Guardian on it yet, & am a firm believer in traveling reasonably well-armed & defended; Sure, I could get it to jump farther without the Mil-Grade armor & top-rated shields, etc, but if I'm far out with no help around, I'd rather make it back. WITH my ship intact! No paper builds for me...

As to performance, I've had nothing to complain about. Seems quite able to evade NPC interdiction attempts, & no probs landing or taking off.

As to squadrons, check them out; they can be great company & lots of help. I chose my squadron for a couple of reasons... even before I joined, I got lots of good tips & advice from their members, & they're also in my same general age group ("Seasoned Citizen"/Mature). They also helped LOTS in sharing wing missions to give a huge boost to my finances.

Did you check to see that you're the minimum distance away? Might be a stupid question, but ya never know...
