AeellronRandom question commanders: What's your home station and why? Is it powerplay related? Stick with Yi-long so you can buy stuff cheaper? Near a favorite res site?

I want to know what kinds of factors people consider when selecting a home station/system.

My first was 59 Virginis (good res, good proximity in the bubble) and recently it's been Cailla (close to a res spot I like hitting, also good bubble location, <100ls from jump spot).

Anybody wanna share their faves and rationale?

Lamarck Orbital in Nanabohzo System, time ago i used to discuss evolution theories and much preferred those of Lamarck than Darwin s, because of that i became the black sheep in my friend s group.

The first HT station i encountered after exiting initial zone was Lamarck Orbital, i took it as a funny coincidence and loved it.

Hey, hey! Someone from my old stomping grounds in Nan! How’s it looking since I’ve left for LHS 20?

GALNET today

Seems like with the tensions between Fednecks and Empire having been resolved (at least for now) the Federation is now going to flex its muscles against the Alliance...

...because I cannot imagine the Alliance not getting involved when their primary defense contractor might become the victim of a hostile takeover by its Federal counterpart.

So, just following the thread. I'm by no means a noob (been playing on and off for about 5 years on xbox, I guess but I'm a casual player and have just moved to PC so started again).

So, playing in Open, and coming out of Farseer yesterday after putting the final tweaks on my jumpconda ready for a trip out into the void. Go to FSD out and lo and behold, my target is behind the planet. So, I figure, instead of doing what I normally do (go somewhere else as it's now only 3 jumps to my home station with my 60ly jump range), I boost out, hoping to get into supercruise so that I can drift round the plant.

As I say, I'm on open because the galaxy is already a very empty place and I accept the risks. However, about 2 minutes into my flight, I get intercessed. now, I'm normally pretty good at getting out of these in PVE (even in a Type-9) but I stood no chance here! Before I had even started, it was already on red!! So, the normal happens and I drop out.

A Ganker - I thought. I figured that I'd try some diplomacy. What it turns out is that there seems to be a stigma now against the anaconda - his response to me asking why he was attacking me when there was nothing to gain? was "To teach you a lesson about flying a rubbish ship". Now, the Anaconda is a decent ship for long range. I had enough for multiple rebuys so I didn't care about dying - I had no cargo, rebuy was only about 8Mil. But it just seemed odd. When I told him my aims, his response was "don't engineer in open"

Anyhow, he took me down to 4% hull and destroyed my thrusters and FSD. I had to limp back to my home base and hope that I didn't get intercessed by a NPC as well as I would be done for. Managed it, 170K credits in repairs so cannot complain too much.

It was just a really odd experience. It seems weird that players want to ruin the experience of the game and push more and more players into solo. If I was worried about losing my ship, I would play in solo but, as I say, the galaxy is already a very empty place. (At the same time, it was quite exhilarating because there are very few people (if any) where I play).

Yeah, PvE interceptions are a joke. They are literally designed that if you fight them enough, you should win. PvP is very different.

I would guess that they called your ship rubbish not because it was an Anaconda, but either a) because you had it optimized for jumping not combat, ergo "rubbish" in their opinion, or b) they would have called any ship rubbish.

What surprises me is that they left you with a few percent hull. That puts them in a rare category of ganker. Did you catch their name?

No I didn't - well, I did at the time but can't remember now.

Like I say, it isn't that I mind - ED would be REALLY dull if everything was easy. If I wanted easy, I'd play roblox, lol.

I just found it interesting.

You may be able to find it on your combat log here on Inara

I use a 3rd-party tool, EDDiscovery, & that logs everything. If I'd been in that situation, I'd have been able to get not only their name & type of ship they were using, but the texted interaction too.

As for it being quite lonely in the vast relatively emptiness of space, that's 1 of the reasons I joined a squadron.

Aside from their being a really decent group of primates, very helpful & beneficial in many ways.

When alone, I usually play in Solo or Private Group, for just the reason you've mentioned, avoiding uninvited PvP. Your aggressor was, afaik, a rare type. Perhaps, if you meet another like that, try to send a 'Friend request'?

Also, in the game you can see your most recent in-game contacts in the Comms panel, 4th from the left (looks like a clock icon).

Hello, I am having an issue with the 3 unknown signals that are supposed to be obtained by scanning the Thargoid device after placing the link, probe, and sensors in their respective places and then scanning the Thargoid device with the data link scanner. I am only receiving two signals that do not offer any audio. Is their a perquisite I am missing? I have now been to 8 different "Active" or "Alive" sites.

Just one big problem with the build. Shield thermal resistance is -1.1% - change the engineering of the shield to thermal resistant.
There are also few small improvements you can make but nothing critical apart from the shield.

Why the 3A life support? If your shields go down, you wont be sticking about in that build to worry about it. Stick a 3D in for less power and weight..

Pretty dominated by Union, good mission rewards but a little too far from the star, the old duvall still controls it, somehow i resist to go too far from there for the moment, even if i didn t join any squadron nor faction yet.

I disagree, the shield generator is fine, instead you could change both of the boosters to Thermal resist and put thermo blocker on top of that, at that point you are maximising your shield regen speed while helping to counteract the low thermal resistance. Yes it'll be lower than Kinetic and thermal but the high regeneration speed is worth it in my view.
