Elite: Game talk

Ok this game F'd me hard. Grrr.

So I just finished engineering my BH Mamba, left the station and set course for my Carrier Avenue 36. I was sleepy so didn't notice that the target switch bug occured on the entry to SC and ended up docking on the Aurora FC instead and logged. Imagine my joy when I logged in to day 1200LY away from the bubble in a 13 LY jump range ship. So much for rat hunting today :/

Aleksander MajjamMining high demand mineral commodities should always be the most profitable activity.

Sort of reminds me of... like you know... RL.

... can mass lock me i can kill a krait or two and manage to still highwake out, on my minnin conda I CANT do that.

Yeah I agree... The argument 'combat ships experience more risk therefore should be paid more' is wrong on every level.

Combat ships are built for.... combat.  They can at least survive any encounter long enough to get away unless the player makes mistake(s).  Ships built for ANYTHING else cannot.  Therefore combat is not more risky despite getting to see your shields light up occasionally.

As for risk = reward:  tell that to current day RL soldiers and mercenaries.  They are NOT making bank and their job is hella more risky considering they don't get shields etc...

Nah, I'm happy with how it sits atm.  The balance feels much better than it used to.

which brings me back to one of my points earlier on a comment...IF THERE IS ONE COMPANY YOU CAN COUNT ON TO LISTEN ...since 1984..that's frontier. they balance, they patch, they keep that content coming. and that's why i keep supporting them. and as a community i think many of us if not most probably do what i do, and that is every once in a while i spend 5-10$ in just arx and stuff i don't really need, because if we want to continue to have this , we have to keep this worth it for the makers and that requires all of us..remember we play the most extensive game in existence and we do so not at a monthly fee like others do.. these guys treat us fairly, yes there is always F-ing BS, and exploits and what not to deal with. But we will be fine, I cant wait to pirate on foot... or find new content. definitely want to see what they did with atmospheric entries. And i can always hope for that first decent one day in the future into a life bearing planet. just imagine the no man's sky experience on foot but with the professionalism and attention to detail of the ELITE universe. it will be a brain nuke trust me.

I agree that mining should be profitable and have no problem with it being the most profitable but combat has to at least give some money. It could do with a bit more than right now but at least it's not nothing anymore. As for the risk vs reward argument and the comparison to RL soldiers. Riskier activities should absolutely pay more. Combat is only then a bit less risky once you've dumped a lot of money and engineering into your ship for it to actually be suited for the job. If you don't do that with your mining ship because it is not intended to do that of course it's gonna die faster. And what soldiers get paid probably depends on the country. Here in Austria they get quite a big hazard pay depending on rank and where they get deployed. Can almost make 5 digits a month that way.

BlanddragonI'm out in Colonia and Tritium is basically unavailable in in quantity! Found a couple of single hotspots and started mining but I'm getting about 100T an hour with 5-10% rocks at medium or low quantities. Did I mention that I hate mining? There are Fleet Carriers here that are selling it for 100000+/Ton, but that is just piracy. I'm basically stuck here until I get enough to get back to the bubble. FDev this game is broken with your ham handed nerfs! Thanks for making a fantasy game like real life.

I feel your pain. I know what its like, and how frustrating it can be, when elements of a game seem to be stacked against you, but surely one of the best features of ED is its adherence to the way life actually works. True, the fantasy elements are what makes the game special, but the reality is what makes it believable.

Except is's not RL and not all of us want CosPlay on our games.

It is your fault to expect large quantities of tritium in a remote regions with economy under development.

What's next - expecting cheap tritium in Beagle Point?

I didn't expect 'large' quantities but if there 4 FC with 100's of tons of Tritium they clearly got it from somewhere. The market is 5 to 10 tons max.
Mining is the solution but since FDev likes to use a hammer to fix their market woes thay have created a false economy. So much for your comments. This has been going on for months.

So wait a minute...do you guys need a freighter carriers to take trit over there? I will totally embark on that if there is a profit to be made ( not exaggerated but enough to cover the trip.ALSO NOTE THAT within 500ly of colonia there has to be a gas giant with icy ring...i have noticed that without hotspots at all, icebelts contain decent ammounts of trit.

There are three FCs here that have changed their name to Tritium 150K and 110k Tritium or the like. Yes I have found hot spots but the yield is so low that 100T an hour and 300 limpets has been my average. My problem is not that I expected to buy it but I can't 'live off the land' since FDev nerfs things rather than try to make a market that is realistic or resources balanced . I suppose they're too busy trying to sell their next game to actually analyze data.

And Cephy..go fish pal.

It almost sounds like an EVE ONLINE player trying to play ELITE like if it was EVE...is not gonna happen it will never happen. Different concepts. Also the fact that your combat doesnt pay you as much is more of a lack of imagination on your part than the lack of actual content...because if I interdict mister cutter in a minning cutter with 700 ltd's in it he has to give me 300 or i blow up all 700 of them. feel me? so you want to be a combat pilot, then get to combat, the thing is you want to shoot npc's and become a billionaire like the guy that spends his entire day doing research on the market and the goods or the explorer looking for them nice hotspots. So, NO, your "cherry picking" is not gonna pay you more than people who actually do work in the game. AGAIN, you wanna get rich off of combat? You gonna need to be creative, and it will involve pvp if you want any meaningful pay sorry but this isnt eve my friend

To be fair I did not looked for a female. Just hired 1st harmless NPC that looked different than average orc tribe we usually get.

...Her story is somewhat puzzling ... I guess this is again procedural generated by few random story parts.

Ok newb question, how do you find out how to get a permit for certain systems?
