DescartesI just auto-launched from 'Farseer in Deciat sys and my ship was destroyed,

First, even before the launch was completed - so bought a replacement

Second hit and destroyed by an impulse missile  within seconds of leaving the ground

How can this happen?  Ganker or Wanker?   GRRR

So, given that my ship is engineered for speed (540 and 600 boost), and I never had trouble waking out before, (remember I have not even had time to engage FSD or supercruise),

do I try a third time in open play (it must be possible)

chicken out and try in solo?

Thanykyou all for your replies.

Not wanting to be easily defeated, I played in open,

launched manually and stuck my head out of the crater in which sits Farseer base just far enough to do a 360 scan, sure enough, there was a ship waiting directly behind me. Found a planet visible to eyeline just above the horizon, charged FSD, lifted off, hit boost and jumped. It worked for me!

p.s.Sheilds? 2A, unengineered on my Viper III

Nicely done!

Hey guys and gals!

I am currently in the witch head nebula searching for thargoids sensors. My DBX isnt made for fighting, so i wanna scavenge them on planets.

My goal is to get intercepted so i can scan them and the wake, without having to worry to instantly die by them.

Can anyone recommend a planet / system to me in which i can find them? Currently sitting in Evangelis.

Thank you in advance!

Fastest way to collect Thargoid Sensors and/or Sensor Fragments is Step 4 in https://cmdrs-toolbox.com/guides/engineering-unlock.  The Unknown Artefacts are Thargoid Sensors.

If you're looking to get hyperdicted, or just need to scan Thargoid Interceptors and their High Wakes you can search Thargoid in the Star Map IIRC, or the Coalsack Nebula where the Alliance expansion CG from a month or two ago was. Non Human Signal Sources threat level 5 have the highest chance of a docile Basilisk with no scouts to agro you.

Have a look at Cannon...

https://canonn.science/codex/crashed-thargoid-ship-2/

They list crashed TG ships.

@Cephy Triple hotspots for laser mining a specific mineral was nerfed 2 mining patches ago IIRC. They are still good, but not 'travel 900 LY to fill a FC good'. YMMV

Considering this and the recent nerf to mineral values it is theoretically better to have an overlap of two or more different minerals. AFAIK nobody has posted a list of these type of hotspots.

Here is the best info I've found for what you need.

Other than that, since others have covered the easy way, I figure I might as well illustrate the more masochistic way.

If you drop into Threat 5 NHSS, you will likely find either 1- a Cyclops-class Thargoid interceptor (big, and will approach and scan you but will not attack you if you don't annoy it), 2 - several small Thargoid scouts (small, not much damage, but immediately hostile, boost & jump ASAP), 3 - nothing, or 4 - a Thargoid sensor. There may be a Cyclops and Sensor present at the same time. AFAIK, the Thargoid should eventually leave, and after that you can collect the Sensor, or Sensor Fragments, depending which you need. The Thargoid will aggro if you retrieve the Sensor before the Thargoid leaves. Also, if you're collecting the whole Sensor, make sure you have corrosion-resistant cargo racks. If you need the fragments instead, just smash the sensor and collect the fragments; no special cargo racks needed.

Better stay safe with surface crash sites. Even scouts in non-human signal sources can be deadly for not engineered exploration ships. And for getting 25 fragments (or whatever the number was) multiple sensors will be required.

Mining seems to be really f-up right now. Great work FDevs.

Unable to adjust demand / requests since introduction of FC.

I heard Musgravite core mining is very lucrative. I plan to check it once I rank my NPC pilot to Elite - not playing much nowadays and those last 30% taking way too long.

The mechanics seem to be working with mining, although I must say that the payout is pretty bland. Mined for about 2 hours in a void opal double overlap and found about 4 cores -> 51 tons -> 34M cr.

To be honest, everything now seems to be balanced when it comes to credit earning, in a way it should be from the very beginning of the game. Bounty Hunting and Assassinations are no longer lagging way behind mining which sometimes could give 100x times more than hour in High or even Hazardous RES. Aside of Tritium, you are no longer forced to mine or do extensive trading in order to afford weekly expenses on a Fleet Carrier. At least from my "on paper" point of view.

CZ gives payouts of what used to be RES patrolling rewards on a rather mediocre day, which isn't that bad, but I find it a bit weird that payouts for CZ aren't higher considering that NPC ships present in there are way more powerful and in numbers that might overwhelm your top-shielded ship in a minute - but I guess it is a balance counter as very same ships are on your side, too.
