Spud_I sure wish I understood why they made the Clipper a large pad ship.... still does not make sense to me.

Clipper wing span is 103m. Just 8m less than cutter.

Igneel PrimeI thought it's a medium and the Type 7 was the only one like that lol

Type-7 is other beer... It's height is 2.5m higher than medium hangar that goes together with the landing pad.

... P. S. My numbers may not be precise.

  • The Clipper is the impractical ship you get when your designer is an artist.
  • The Type-7 is the compromise you get when your designer is a committee.
  • The Python is the ultimate workhorse you get when your designer is a visionary.

Change my mind.

I cannot, I agree, my Python handles 75% of my workload.

The clipper is the semi nimble pretty looking tackle ship, its no chieftain i get it but it can tank.
the t7 is what you get when a bunch of union workers get together because they dont make enough for a bulky glass box aka t9
The python is the workhorse of the gentle, remeber this.. J-LO's movie was not called Python ...there is a reason  called anaconda. bigger booty what else do you need.

I like flying the Clipper, and I love the sound and the looks. It was the first ship I bought just because I wanted THAT ship, not because of what I could do with it.

But ... it doesn't have enough hardpoints or good enough convergence to be great at combat. It doesn't have enough cargo space for serious trading, not enough jump range for me to use it as a taxi or an explorer.

I almost never fly mine anymore.

thats why you put your interdicting alt on a clipper, brick tanked to initiate then drop your big gun while the idiot tries to chew the clipper. Not everyone runs two machines a vpn and 4 monitors but still...clipper is pretty thats reason enough...it just needs another size 3 and is fixed as far as your comment aboout hardpoints

If the Clipper was a medium ship with a bit more jump, it would be much better. I can't understand the thinking behind the Imperials having 2 small hull ships and then 2 large. What have Fdev got against giving them a medium hull?

I'd gladly hack down the Clipper to make it a contender with the Krait II and Python because right now it's in the pointless category.

Note: Some posts unrelated to the gameplay were moved to the General talk, the rest of the heated posts were completely removed. If anybody feel a need to insult somebody else, the best way is to write nothing. Also, although profane words aren't explicitly prohibited here, let's please keep some level of discussion and use it just when absolutely necessary. Thanks.

Clipper, Krait Phantom, Asp Scout, Orca, Type-7 and the three Alliance "C" Ships that led the charge to Lakon bankruptcy are all pointless.

Dude, not sure what you are smoking but I want some too.

... BTW, only half of this ships are Lakon... And only 2 actuary useless. Namely, asp scout and Alliance Crusader.

Aktually one of our Squad found the ideal use for an Asp Scout! Take an unengineered Scout with no specialist modules and no shields into a planetary ring with half a dozen like-minded loonies and -hey presto - demolition derby! What a hoot!

And, yeah, I know it doesn’t have to be an Asp Scout, any ship would do even a Sidey, but the challenge was to have fun in an Asp Scout ...... mission accomplished

So I’m still fairly new to ED and been using this week to try out new things and different gameplay aspects. Went out on a jolly to try out some of the SRV data point hacking type stuff and it went about as well as a cruise on the Costa Concordia, so I think it’s back to the drawing board for me

So hey, let’s give mining a go - what could possibly go wrong? Anybody have any advice for dos and don’ts? Even the most obvious advice is always welcome ^^

I think you've had enough. I said all were pointless, not useless. Two different words and meanings. The manufacturer of the ships is no matter.
KP- pointless.
AS- pointless.
Orca- pointless.
T7- pointless.
Crusader, Challenger and Chieftan all pointless. Well actually no. If it weren't for these ugly pieces of space junk, Core Dynamics would still be a competitor, not owner.

How is the Krait Phantom pointless? Imho it's one of the best exploration ships out there.

Forget all about "Open Play Participation Trophies" and PvE and murderous ganker CMDRs that were abandoned in an outpost as a baby and grew up killing small animals and skinning cats. Terrible situation. Years from now, when they are finally giving Ceph the needle, Gal-flix is gonna come interview us for their documentary on the psycho. "All the signs were there." , we'd say. "Infinite paths to choose in the galaxy, but he went straight for murderer. We should've done more back then, but we didn't know. We didn't know."

But don't think about all that...

Let's get back to the good stuff, like why my Vulture is absolutely useful!

Chieftain is one of the best combat ships out there. Especially for a new players. As for Crusader no other ship in the game gives you massive hull durability and the ability to launch fighters combined with good manoeuvrability. You just need to know how to use it's pros.
