What are your speculations about the new Cobra Mk5? I really love that design and am happy to have another medium-sized vessel with potentially a multi-purpose role. I did some speculations over at Reddit.

Surprisingly, I find myself with a renewed interest on my Krait MK II, my previous build wasn't entirely satisfactory, weaponry, if it worked for the Corvette (thanks to her 4A MULTI-CANNONS) was a bit on the weak side on the Krait.

But yesterday for the first time, I was able to ONE SHOT most light fighters and make quick work of anything else, the damage output is amazing.

I had to tweak the fit, loosing a little in Combat Persistence (shield) to keep Power Consumption low but at the end of the day, I find myself with a more maneuverable ship (she is lighter) and I spend a lot less time trading HP with the target, so it's all gain.

Atusia Duval gave me the motivation for trying when she posted about the six modified plasmas she has installed on her Imperial Cutter, it was worth the effort.

I have very little interest in it. Visually it just looks awful (opinion, not that I should have to clarify) and… I don’t know. I guess its draw might be SCO compatible compared to the other existing multipurpose ships, and for people drawn to “anniversary hype”.

Mk's all look the same - wide and flat. It's kinda nice. You can have a party on the roof.

Is it, off the shelf, faster and stronger or has better manoeuvrability, more useful slots? Probably not. You need >5 x the cost of the ship + hours and hours of grind to make it actually perform competitively.

WARNING: This is a joke. Known to knot panties if taken seriously.
Imagine, you go and buy a brand new A8 and then find out its engine is actually form an old Pinto, wheels are from a lawnmower and so on.
To get it running properly, you need to go and rummage around in several junk-yards and crawl in a ditch at autobahn X, few thousand km in that direction (get the locations from the police scanner). It gets better. You new car can do 30 kph and has no 4-6th gear. Have a nice trip. BTW, would you like a week old tuna sandwich to go? Egg?

No, wait, there is more!

The engineer, who can rebuild (only partially, BTW) your brand new and shiny street car to something useful, lives at the end of a dirt road somewhere in the [mountain range you never heard of].
Don't forget to take 5 tonnes of gold with you (but your cars max load is 0.5)

But... but... all cars are sold like that, you tell yourself, while knee deep in cold mud, looking for a window handle, in a ditch next to a road X.
Good news! You can trade it for a button that turns on the AC (AC you do not have but can probably buy, if you got the blueprint and few kg of diamonds)

Well, it fits maybe if you take that A8 to a car tuner in some rundown area, where you only have access thanks to being part of some gang, shell out a lot of money or promise to do some gang jobs, and then they tune your car in such way that technically you are not allowed to use it anymore. But - it is unique, it's yours, and a lot of fun.

In comparison, the thing I miss in ED is personal customization of paint jobs and stickers (at least we have those spoiler wings in some ship sets...)
And let's not forget huge sound boxes to play the Ride of the Valkyries in Apocalypse Now style whenever you meet an enemy. Because why not... after all we hear the weapons too

No, the bigger irony was actually marketing it as a dedicated AX ship and both the Alliance and the Lakon designers were so embarrassed about its ridiculous(ly shitty) performance at it that they outright removed any mention of this from any marketing for the ship.

And it’s still just a brick that works better when you slap a bunch of turrets on it and don’t move (or so I hear, I’m never setting foot in that thing).

Ahh, the acoustics of vacuum of space... perfect. I would love to have 2 sets of Vandersteen Audio Kento Carbon's on my MKII roof. Naah, make it 4. It would sound even better while doing circles around a nav beacon...

That's odd. I still can't see any screenshots of Mandalays somewhere 50k ly away from the nearest ship dealer, with paint totally worn off, and also no absolutely meta builds with min-maxed everything including the optimal toilet paper roll size with which you have the best range and fuel efficiency. Perhaps, I should wait a couple hours more.

One roll is one tonne, no matter if you get the cheapest 1 layer with Cheapo Finger Through or 4 layers with the Thargoid Bleach Wash blueprint.
The default and unremovable bonus is fresh pine smell by WunderBaum Fraction, of course.
