Elite: Game talk

EpisparhNow, after reading so many post about pirating... I realized I never tried this but I want to explore that option.

So here are my initial thoughts:
I will need a  medium ship  with rather cold thermal signature. I will also need some cargo, a hatch breaker and a collector to extract the shinies.  And finally for the hard points, I am thinking of dual Flechette launcher to disable drives/FSD , grom bomb and some canons with force shell to apply counter force to stop the victims from drifting.

...that's probably a Krait Mk2 or a Phantom and most probably without shields. (Python is always an option too but it is a bit slower)

Any advises from experienced outlaws  and pirates before I commence with the preparation? You can safely assume I have all resources and required unlocks.

I turned a Chieftain into a pirate ship. It was surprisingly easy to do.

Creamy Goodness IIII had a pirate follow my mining ship into a ring. I boosted as soon as I dropped out of supercruise and the NPC dropped in right in my path killing us both.

That's a full hold of voids I didn't get to sell. I turned Elite off for a few hours after that

Thats just it... Not one damned thing was there. I mean, clear shot out of the ring. I throttled up and boom. It was like someone put an a-bomb under my seat. I sent a request to Frontier for a reason why. But, I dunt expect those pecker heads to do anything but laugh their asses off. Oh, the shields did go down first like the module was destroyed first. I think FDEV likes to frack with its gamers. It's not the first time it has happened. My ship exploded in a hanger before. Couldn't figure that one out either.

Note to self. Stop cooking crack in ship.
Same with me. Me and my wingmate where doing pve and I dropped into the wing beacon and immediatly died??!!

Charlie110Hey Folks,

Fed rank - what a grind!!
Any advice? I'm verging on giving up forgetting the vette

Well I was taking a look at the Massacre mission tool yesterday and determined the best system to hunt Massacre Missions for Feds is in Uchaluroja via missions obtained from the 12 separate Federation factions in GD 69 and Gertrud.  Might be more entertaining than Data Delivery missions.  This is only theory atm as I have not tested it out yet.

Edit:  Source

So this is like 5 conversations too old, but I finally had a chance to check this theory.  Just starting my BH career really, so there is a lot (mostly about the BGS) I'm learning.  Here are my findings:

Uchaluroja at this time is a decent place for BH.  The HazRes is packed with Pirates from the faction you get the quests from in GD 69 and Gertrud.  It is also a high security system so po po support is almost instantaneous.  Unfortunately, one of the mission source stations and HazRES are >21k ls away from jump in.  That's a 4 minute +travel time for turn ins.  Mission stacking was decent.  I was able to stack missions for 6 different factions.  This is much less than the 13 available but that is due to the BGS states.

Using the linked tool is a huge help, but is only one aspect of the research needed to make Massacre Mission stacking work.  You should also:

Check the faction states and avoid any systems in the state War/Civil War,
avoid factions with state Outbreak and whatever one that creates Massacre:smugglers subtype missions.  They don't stack as well and are nigh impossible to find the right targets with.  Massacre Pirates only for best results,
Check (via EDSM or other) that the Mission Source Stations are close to their jump in point, and
Check that the target system has a HazRes that is close to that systems jump in point.

Finally, the BGS is always in flux so there is no permanent Massacre Stack Shangri-la.  You need to do this research every time you start a round of this.

Bonjour à tous !

Good morning, all! I have a question which I think I’ve asked before, but did not get a specific answer to:

Every now and then (it seems to be once a week, more or less) I get a galaxy-wide bounty put on me of around 11000 credits by the Empire. I only really notice it if I pick up some other arbitrary fine for inadvertently swatting an innocent NPC during combat or other similar transgression (which usually is a much smaller amount of around 100 credits).

I’m still stumped as to the origin of this. Is it to do with Power Play, or perhaps ranking up with Federation while an Imperial Duke? I just cannot pin it down!

I might add that most of my combat occurs in HazRes sites with the occasional factional CZ - I don’t target Empire/Fed ships as a matter of course.

What is also confusing is why it’s always exactly 11000 credits.

It does not seem to affect my standing in any system - there does not seem to be a target painted on any of my ships, and I’ve not been randomly attacked because of it. At least, I don’t believe so...

Any thoughts?

Confused Claude.

i am confused Commanders.

I did some dodgy wet work for Alioth independents and have picked up fines/bounties - I went to an Alliance Interstellar Faction and tried to pay off the bounties - could not.  So I went to Fed space and tried to pay off my bounty at a FED interstellar faction - but no...

what can I do?  I have now 1 notoriety so how do I get rid of these fines/bounties?

good morning and o7 CMDRS

It's difficult to pin down because the game doesn't provide a detailed list of your rap sheet.  If you are repeatedly being given an Empire Bounty for the same amount, then it's probably a default value for a simple fine that gets converted to Bounty if unpaid for too long.  Something like failing a Cargo Transport Mission (the goods become stolen and the failure itself is a fine iirc), or royally borking docking/launching procedures.  https://lavewiki.com/crime

The only thing I can suggest is to start paying more attention to your Transactions Tab to get more clues as to where it's coming from.

When the notoriety is at one or higher, you can not pay the fines on a ship.

Time will allow the notoriety to decay to zero again.

Whilst you wait, you could fly a ship that has no fines on it, or just go somewhere where you are not a wanted man and play there ...

notoriety will decay at smth like 1pt per 2hr rate while you are online, so you can fly somewhere else, change a ship, stay docked for this period or just give no s... biowaste. it will not rise any further if you keep yourself from shooting down "clean" ships (except "lawless" space).

i got it all sorted. Been arrested and shipped to detention a couple of times. Though I also seemed to have picked up a bounty from Zachery in my Type 10 Mrs Malaprop. I did 2 wet work jobs and one spec ops job last night... the nonsense that these jobs cause is not really worth it. (apart from the Mats)

It's not entirely true. Special operations can bring you good money. Sometimes you can have 50 mil mission where you need to kill a bunch of civilians. Easy job. They only spamming mines and running like rats. Each mission target ship is only 5k fine and no notoriety. In right system with right state you can have 3-4 such kind of missions at time. Almost free money.

Argh. Haven't thought about this option...

Unfortunately it still doesn't clear the notoriety, but it will clear the bounty.

On a tangent here... if notoriety is tied to the commander why don't they do the same for bounties? It's ridiculous the way it works now.

So, my guess was right. Just handed 38+m bounty vouchers and got immediately in top 10

UNX Conqueror is parked near Haz RES in Sirius corporation controlled system.  Open to all without notoriety with 0% tax on repair, refuel , restock.

PSA regarding the current CG:

Remember that you need to turn those bounties in on the Spirit of Laelaps and NOT on Patterson Enterprise!

People already started to complain on the official forums that they had no progress after turning in their bounties, turned out that they went to the station, not the megaship...
