SakashiroHas FDev reduced the spawn rate of high grade materials?

I haven't noticed any difference, at least with signal sources. Occasionally I find 5+ High Grade Emissions in one system and sometimes I can go to a dozen systems and not find any. I seem to average 1-2 per system overall.

I think the state of the system has alot to do with the signals given.

System population size affects HGE spawn chance,  System's allegiance and minor factions states affects HGE type.

If you look for specific HGE - look for system that matches the requirements.  It is better to look for multiple factions in required state and all others in a state that do not affect HGE spawn.  Then sort them descending by population.

Example: Currently this system https://eddb.io/system/factions/17035 is nice candidate to spawn Pharmaceutical Isolators.

Ah, I forgot. You can use https://www.edtutorials.com/material-finder/ but I find it less reliable than my standard approach.

Yeah I go to the appropriate ones for each type but it is still RNG ultimately. It still feels the same as it has been for some time.

I do find HGEs in the appropriate systems, but once I've harvested them, it seems to take forever to spawn new ones. The number of materials in HGEs seems to be lower, too. There used to be six or more in the past, now I frequently see only three.

Also geological sites spawn fewer materials, even if the planet is supposed to have major or pristine reserves.

So even though these days I scoop up literally everything dropped by NPCs in hazRES, I'm still constantly running short of materials. It's frustrating and makes engineering even more of a grind than it used to be. The effort-reward ratio is getting so bad that gathering materials is no longer a means to an end, it's becoming the end itself by taking over 90% of in-game time. I don't feel entertained any more. Combat is exciting, outfitting gives it a nice strategic element, but driving an SRV for hours is just dumb. The FSS scanner minigame sucks, too. Give me the f-ing mats, FDev, don't bore me with this BS sideshow!

ArtieYou are welcome and I am glad you like Inara.
I just updated the post above with a fix (Cuberara instead of Lhanla) and added (probably incorrect) set of star systems for 20 ly. If you can check those within 10Ly, that would be great.

If somebody else want to check the massacre missions for another star system, just tell me and I will generate another set of possible target mission boards.

Alright, so I checked a couple other systems including Cuberara and the missions are there!
It'd be nice if stations are included as well, but not complaining. Even having suggested systems saves time!

Cheers!

Edit - I checked all the first 5 systems you suggested. All of them had massacre/put down missions for Albardhas!

Usually one HGE is enough to fill your store of that type but it requires usage of controversial activity "Quit to desktop/ login -> collect: repeat"

I tried the quit to desktop cheat, but watching the ED intro sequence over and over again became annoying quickly. Is there a way to skip it and go straight to the main menu?

It seems the intro can be skipped with Esc. Will try that later.

Does quitting to desktop respawn raw mats, too?

I think instance reset is enough for those. But you should really be visiting Crystalline Shards for that. It is just 1500ly trip and you can skip the return trip with self-destruct.

I make a trip to there each 1-3 months. And trade down all g4 I have except Selenium. If all lowers are filled up I cross trade the ramaining g4s for selenium. Then 50-60 jumps, visiting 6 sites and all g4 maxed again.

No idea if this works everywhere, but at Dav's Hope I was able to avoid the whole logging-out thing simply by switching modes, Open, PG, Solo, & repeat. Worked like a charm!

At Dav's Hope menu logging is sufficient, no need to switch modes. As is with most other sites, be it Guardian, Meta-alloys, etc. HGE require desktop logging.

Dav's Hope and Jameson's crash site are special. Geological sites seem to be on timers though.

For farming HGEs, drop in and deploy collector limpets, then quit to desktop as soon as collection is complete. Restart and enter again in the same game mode as before. Throttle to zero, charge for supercruise, boost about halfway through charging. This will put you in supercruise at minimum velocity. Once in supercruise, look at your left panel and select the nearest unidentified signal source. Do a U-turn and drop on that source. Deploy your collector limpets again. Rinse and repeat until the HGE fades. Victory.

Ok this is how I do it:

Raw mats - Crystalline shard. Cross trade all g4 for selenium or down before you depart.  Fill all 6 types to max and self destruct. Takes 1-2 hours with a DBX.
Manufactured mats - HGE relog fest and Robigo runs for the rare.
Encoded - Hacking researcher or science vessels in anarchy systems (Sometimes I am getting 6-7 x 3 from single limpet including MEF).  For wakes I usually go to a distribution center in a system with famine state.  Once in a blue moon I can drop to Jameson's cobra if I need the encoded that drops there (but never to cross trade  those)

I never run out of mats although I am using extensive synthesis in some of my combat builds.
