Wasting half billion for few extra points hull on a shield tank makes total sense... Especially while those shields almost never goes down.
EpisparhMate, I really do not understand you. Credits are meaningless in this game, but the fact cannot be denied ... Unfortunately, the price to repair 25% reactive is far more than repairs for lightweight armor.
Pick one Ep. Can't have your cake and eat it too. Oh, and for anyone interested in an actual shield tank build that you would use in Open...
What Episparh thinks is good (converted to Coriolis for ease of comparison): *Sad horn noises*
A few minor tweaks considering:
Credits really aren't a concern at this level of play,
In Open resistances are meaningless against absolute damage,
Fast cycling banks because feedback cascade is a thing.
Edit: if this is not for open I would change it too look like this.
(and for weapons it's much more personal taste, but I did fix the double corrosive and gimballed lasers)

EpisparhSakashiroSince the bounty hunting CG is basically a repeat of the previous one, I'll probably do just enough to get into the top 100% or maybe top 75% for the cash reward this time. In the hauling CG I'll try to stay in the top 10% again, and also get trade Elite before the CG is over. But the main incentive is the money. Each haul brings me a little closer to a fleet carrier.
Btw, does anyone know how to read the values in the right column?

This is from a single unengineered 4A shield cell bank. Does this mean I have to pop 4 cells to restore 625 MJ of my shield, or what is the 4x all about? The SCB's max ammo is only 3 anyway, so I'm kind of puzzled.
Yes, right column is SCB reinforcement + total SCB regen with resistances. The last value - the RGN is shield regain time from 50% to 100% with empty SYS capacitor.
About x4 SCB uses - you have ammo maximum + 1 already loaded and ready in use. Same as heat sinks and in matter of fact everything that have ammo. The clip in use is loaded and you carry maximum reloads.
Total = maximum + clip size
So let's say 50% of my shield is gone, that's 2,767 MJ / 2 = 1,383.5 MJ. So in order to restore my shield back to 100%, I would have to pop 1,383.5 MJ / 156.4 MJ = 9 cells? I would need three 4A banks to even carry that many cells, more than I can fit.
Is this because I optimized the shield for raw strength instead of resistances? Do SCBs require low-MJ, high-resistance builds to be useful?

If you look closely at my linked tweaked builds you can see the answer for yourself. The answer is not a simple yes or no. It depends on your fighting style and setting. As I said earlier in Open absolute damage means resistances are wasted. Even in a pure PVE setting you might do a lot of ramming to increase your dps (which is absolute) so you might want high cap shields then too. That said, yes high resistance shields maximize the return from SCB's and bi-weave regen if you can pull it off.
Generally you want higher grade SCB's than your shield to maximize the number of charges and their total boost value, but, you need to make sure your shield still has a base value large enough to accept the full charge AND have room to spare for a safety buffer.

I am not sure which carrier it is, but as you have no assigned to your commander profile I presume it's because no docking access for your carrier are known (thus why it's not listed there, to give players just carriers that are known as dockable). Please link your game account (on the CMDR page > Import Frontier data), which should link the carrier to you when the respective records in the journal found and also set its properties).

EpisparhSakashiro, SCB provides raw MJ recharge. Whether you use resistances or not is different story. For PvE I still think you would be better with bi-weave and just one SCB size four for extreme cases but the main recharge should come from normal ship regen and pip menagment when you do not need weapons.
Actually my plan was to get prismatics and increase raw strength by another 500 MJ.

I know, I know. The point is - less pips in weapons the better. You don't need heatsinks in wiki build too, but nvm, mate. If it's works for you use it. I was using same build half a year, but then just switched to meta with MCs and it feels better in every aspect for me. Fly dangerously o7
I appreciate the constructive criticism. I do enjoy very active pip management during combat - keeps it interesting.

... Anyway, I would stockpile some credits to buy more from that shields. Four weeks tagged as blue haired bimbo supporter is way too much for just one shield generator.

Yeah, this is the week that I will hopefully be getting my prismatic shields from AD. They certainly will be costly, but I think they will add a fun dimension to the game, whether in PvE or PvP (which I will eventually get into).
