Balldipper5kGot a planet with 2 icy rings..1 of the ring is tiny and close to the planet the other ring is massive..the gap between these two rings very big. I have to be a certain distance from the planets for discovery scanner to be able to fire. So I am as far away from the planet as I am able to and not able to hit the massive ring. I think it's so far out it doesn't evn give the little "ring" .

The same thing has happened to me numerous times.  I haven't been able to figure out why it happens, but it does on occasion.  I would try relogging (log all the way out of game and then back in) then rescanning the ring(s) with your DSS and see if that does the trick.

What happened to your passengers?

What happened to your passengers?

I delivered them XD

I decided to see if i could redo it and well yes you can...
I mean i count it as exploit after i spent the last 3 days grinding passengers going back and fourth but its still pretty funny that you can skip half the journey XD

PS I am aware that I suck at docking...

I would be surprised if Frontier doesn't have a system that tracked commanders that log out and log back in right away, since that tends to be tied to various types of exploits. It seems like it would be trivial to spot the difference between people with bad internet and those constantly logging out and then in without changing modes, closing the application or anything.

saying that though guardian sites mat spawning all has some sort of similar way of jibbing the game into making things easier

alas i do consider it an exploit but im not sure how to make them aware of it, if they would even care :')

Write about it on the official forum so that the maximum number of players will know about this "exploit".
As a result, the statistics of the game will drastically change, there will be many dissatisfied with this situation →
→ the frontier will have to urgently do something

To be honest, not the most game-abusing exploit. You have to wait 20 sec. until logoff, then some seconds for logging on, with rescue ships floating 5Mm away, being about a minute to reach. In a matter of some abstract ratio like "designed time for completion" / "time spent with exploit" it is not a big win compared to eg. material grind via logging.

true i just find it odd that it doesnt spawn you outsidie the station or docked at the station like i expect

probably cause its burning but its still dockable and its not really that dangerous inside there if you dont wait around with heatsinks

Personally I don't consider relogging to be an exploit. I had typed out a long paragraph but here is the short version:
If various aspects/mechanics of the game were well designed, I think most players would not bother with exploits in the first place, since the game would have good pacing/progression by default.

QuillmonkeyI hear you. Spent two days from Petty Officer to Post Commander and I don't know if I can do another one and a half ranks for a corvette. The buzz has gone.

It's kind of sad actually, because they clearly put a lot of work into making the damaged stations, recording traffic control voice comms, composing music etc. But the gameplay depth just isn't there.

Daiyousei7I would be surprised if Frontier doesn't have a system that tracked commanders that log out and log back in right away, since that tends to be tied to various types of exploits. It seems like it would be trivial to spot the difference between people with bad internet and those constantly logging out and then in without changing modes, closing the application or anything.

They are well aware of these things. Material farming at Dav's Hope or Jameson's crash site, milking the same high grade emissions source multiple times etc. They don't care because at its core ED is a single-player game, and taking shortcuts isn't considered cheating.

The bigger question is, why do people want to take shortcuts and literally skip parts of the game? Because these parts are boring and repetitive, that's why. Players enjoy experimenting with ship builds, engineered modifications etc. but they don't enjoy the grind it takes to get there. And whenever something is boring and repetitive, the human brain starts looking for shortcuts. Sites like Inara, Coriolis etc. exist because the in-game grind would be even worse without them.

Its only repetative, if you keep repeating it.

100% down to the players choice if they decide to do that.

Quillmonkey
SakashiroI stopped flying rescue missions. They're getting boring fast.

Two very good examples of what I mean in one post there.

Spread your play about a bit, and do different things.

Do I? Don't I?

So I've finally saved the recommended 7 bil cr to buy and run an FC... now I'm getting cold feet! Seems like a lot to take on after the carefree days of living out of a fully furbished space station!

Hmmmmmm.......

As a completionist, you don't really have a choice here, do you?

Yes... that's very true. It's the end of one part of the game and the start of a new experience! There's always a nice cup of tea waiting for you on my FC... and clean toilets too!
