Sir SprockettI love playing all games against the "meta" I think that commanders who make meme ships and have fun in them is precisely why many play any game.

This.

It's the same reason why people try to e.g. beat Fallout 4 with just a knife or do speed runs, permadeath runs etc. It injects freshness into old or otherwise boring games, and if you succeed it'll earn you extra bragging rights.

That sounds okay for a fast target, but solo assassinations tend to be Anacondas or Corvettes. Would you stick with overcharged?

for DPS yes

I run a Frag cannon with drag munitions on Mrs Malaprop (type 10) so that I can get my guns easier onto target. Even in a fast ship drag munitions would help "tame your prey"

Burstar: Excellent advice - thanks. However, I will avoid Double Shot as I like to stack missions and don’t want to break off until completed.

So it looks like overcharged with corrosive on one and drag munitions on the other. I see some CMDRs use Screening Shell - is the worthwhile?

HoughtkjWing assassinations are pretty tough - those Vultures hit hard. What ship were you in?

A Mamba. Maybe I'll try again later, but I need to add a few hull reinforcements first. Those shield-penetrating lasers are nasty.

Metas are all about best average efficiency. So to say, 100 absolutely different random pilots acquire their goals (combat, trade, exploration, etc) faster with meta ships/outfits. If something that's familiar to you can beat meta-builds, then it's fine. But 99 another pilots would be less effective in average with your ship/build.

I think NPC's are immune to Screening shell.  Or at least they were when engineering first came out.

edit: woops I'm confusing them for dazzle shells. I wouldn't use it anyways. With the corrosive effect you can get some dps from your beams on the hull during reloads and offsetting one cannons reload speed from the other would just get annoying.

ArtieThere is certainly nothing wrong with the fun ships. Often, the weakest ships are very fun and best for the job (of having fun). Just the disputes that are more ad hominem than based on the objective arguments aren't worth keeping. Well, unless they are extremely hilarious.

Hey i tried, dude said the Beluga was the best and i really wanted to see where that was going. But that got removed too

Many thanks, I see you reasoning - I’ll settle for corrosive and drag munitions, I can always change it if it’s not working.

once you get the shields down and are actually attacking the hull the Corrosive shells has a groovy effect on the enemy's ship, producing an acid cloud around the hull

You need to stick to the FDL like glue until you pop it then leg it on mission completion- at least you have the ship for that. Get some SCBs.
On the whole, these missions are not worth the effort done solo, they pay no more than a solo mission. Good luck o7.

Happy to help!

Food for thought: someone I know thinks the better way to engineer them is Rapid Fire + Screening shell because, and I'm quoting here, "hahah, Pacifiers go brrrrr" and I don't know, that's a pretty convincing argument...

Excellent! But I get the feeling it will be like “hahah, Pacifiers go brrrrr - oh sh*t out of ammo”

What the heck has been going on here? (Rhetorical off) One entire page with removed posts! I missed all the excitement.

Yeah, I like that misty fog cloud, too.

But now to something unrelated: Just completed the second navy career with rescues in Dawes Hub and Parkinson Dock. Gotta get the Cutter while it's cheap.

And now, you Imps can bow to your (yet another) king! (Crown emoticon missing there)

I stacked the assassination missions with several massacre missions against the same faction to increase the reward, but it seems I bit off a bit more than I could chew. I got the FDL's shield down this time, but not fast enough before I had to bail. Anyway, stacking so many missions really turns the game into something else. Suddenly EVERYONE is trying to get you. Got interdicted twice before and twice after the fight. Here's the whole thing on video. Enjoy!

From what I've seen on video accuracy isn't bad, and speaking of maneuvers - you was all over this guy. Maybe you should pack some SCBs and heatsinks to make shields last a bit longer. And finish engineering to get more plain DPS. Even try to be more dodgy to give his wingmen hard time hitting you, strafe a bit here and there. I'm comparing this with CZ Spec Ops wings (these pests are somewhat a challenge): their strength comes from focused attack on one target.

p.s. Maybe you should try combined weapons that won't stop firing because of capacitor drain and won't overheat you that much. I'm using 4xMC (efficient, 1x inc, 1x corr, 2x autoload) with Plasma, so MCs are giving some constant "background" damage almost non-stop when I'm aiming plasma shots.

I reckon with a bit more judicious pip management you would have won that easily.
