HoughtkjYou need to stick to the FDL like glue until you pop it then leg it on mission completion- at least you have the ship for that. Get some SCBs.
On the whole, these missions are not worth the effort done solo, they pay no more than a solo mission. Good luck o7.

I stacked the assassination missions with several massacre missions against the same faction to increase the reward, but it seems I bit off a bit more than I could chew. I got the FDL's shield down this time, but not fast enough before I had to bail. Anyway, stacking so many missions really turns the game into something else. Suddenly EVERYONE is trying to get you. Got interdicted twice before and twice after the fight. Here's the whole thing on video. Enjoy!

Nice. Yesterday I tried my hand at stacking missions with very modest goals. I used a medium ship (Challenger), and I stacked massacre and assassination missions but with absolutely no wing missions and I mainly went to a mixture of high, medium and low RES sites. I earned about 130 million in about three hours and made decent gains in my combat rank - but most of all, it was a ton of fun.

Anybody on Xbox, got a megaship and need something to do tonight? I've got a ganker been harassing my guys all week, i can't get my dropship to him to do something about it, could use the shuttle.

I got myself a Challenger a couple of days ago and I admit I really like that ship. 7 Hardpoints with converging, central aim. Probably not as fast/nimble as a Mamba/FDL but it sounds even better than a Mamba and flies great. I'll engineer this beastie and see how it performs.

~Phew~ I was in danger of having a decent amount of money for a while there.

Luckily, just managed to spend 842 mil on ships n shit.

I feel better now

MeowersFrom what I've seen on video accuracy isn't bad, and speaking of maneuvers - you was all over this guy. Maybe you should pack some SCBs and heatsinks to make shields last a bit longer. And finish engineering to get more plain DPS. Even try to be more dodgy to give his wingmen hard time hitting you, strafe a bit here and there. I'm comparing this with CZ Spec Ops wings (these pests are somewhat a challenge): their strength comes from focused attack on one target.

p.s. Maybe you should try combined weapons that won't stop firing because of capacitor drain and won't overheat you that much. I'm using 4xMC (efficient, 1x inc, 1x corr, 2x autoload) with Plasma, so MCs are giving some constant "background" damage almost non-stop when I'm aiming plasma shots.

Unfortunately the way I've engineered the shield on this build (low resistance, high MJ) makes SCBs rather useless. It would take a lot of cells even to recover just one ring, more than I can carry. The only way to get more mileage out of this shield is by replacing the current A-rated generator with a prismatic one. That would add another 500 MJ to base strength and 1200 MJ to effective strength against thermal damage.

So the short-term solution here is more sustained DPS to bring down the target faster. I love lasers for their unlimited ammo, but they just won't cut it in a situation like this. Engineered MCs might do the trick. In ED jargon: more "dakka dakka."

I enjoyed that - some nice flying. I would pack some kinetic weapons for the kill though - MC's are my favorite G5 overcharged and one with corrosive and keep your eyes on pips - beams are very thirsty. I would put thermal vent on at least one to keep your heat down. However, great fun.

*Edit* BTW - I think your shields held out quite well. I would swap one of the beams for a MC and add 2 MC's in the empty slots and dont forget corrosive on one of them.

@Sakashiro, just one tip. When the hull of the target drops bellow 20-25% it usually high wake. You do not fail the mission but you will need to re-enter the instance to find a fresh 100% healthy target.

You will need strong dps against hull and sub-targeting of FSD to prevent that.

Your huge hardpoint dps potential is almost equal to the rest. You can use both types of weapons by managing your capacitator or/and having different fire group setup. The less hungry and managing approach is to use frags or MC and balancing their dmg vs hull and shield, but then it requires ammo.

Ok, so I’ve been away for a while and the whole damn Bubble is set on fire. Namely, there are nine stations that currently need evacuation after those damn NMLA terrorists decided to spread that toxic Thargoid love.

I am currently looking into outfitting a Type 7 for Search and Rescue/refugee transport and (temporarily) relocating to Sol (while in Solo, mind you) to help ferry people out of that hotspot (I’ve got the permits for it). I need to know a few things before I make the trip:

—Do I need to manually dock/undock at a damaged station every time I need to pick people up?

—What’s the best solo fitting for a Type 7 that’s oriented towards Search and Rescue?

—Is the Type 7 even a good ship for S&R?

—Even in Solo, do I still need to be worried about being ganked by player NPCs?

— Perhaps the best freighter to stuff people like sardines, have awesome pax.cap / cost ratio.

— You can be interdicted by them, but evading NPCs is way way easier than players. And usually they aren't going to kill on sight, they scan your cargo hold. Exception for bounty hunters if you got bounty on your head and some mission-specific foes.

Ah. Excellent!

Also threw this together really quickly. Is it up to snuff?

Yes. Damaged stations have their ILS disabled so you must go manual every time.

MAVERICKbirdy

Smallest shield you can fit on it, Smallest A-grade powerplant you can use for heat management, at least one Heat sink, and as many Economy Passenger Compartments you can muster.

MAVERICKbirdy
—Is the Type 7 even a good ship for S&R?

It's okay. It suffers from poor base heat efficiency but it's optional compartments, Cockpit visibility, and price point work in its favour here.

MAVERICKbirdy
—Even in Solo, do I still need to be worried about being ganked by player NPCs?

In solo there are no players besides you. You could be interdicted by NPCs but it's unlikely because the Rescue ship is only 5Mm away from the station.

Are the stations still burning though? I thought it would end yesterday, or is it tomorrow taht it ends?

Just one thing to add to Burstar's fine answer. Type-7 is large ship and resque megaship have just 1L pad.  Even if there is zero chance to be harmed on your trip between damaged station and the megaship you still may end waiting in a queue for a single L pad.

Better do it in Solo.

You will need a shield due to the explosions in the station. You don't need weapons or particular defenses (in solo). I'd recommend something like this build. The cargo and collector is for escape pods and things flying around inside the stations.

I'm afraid though you may come almost too late. Tomorrow the stations will probably be going into repair cycle. So only today left for rescuing people.

Yet he still can use T7 as a cargo transport, ready to be refitted into S&R ship when needed. Or to do some economy-class passenger runs.
