The elusive Cobra MK IV

I've searched high and low, used this site as a guide to find one, however with all my effort, with all my research, I have yet to find one or even get hint of one being around. I've seen ONE. ONE CMDR with it, and I could not stop the bounty I was in to ask him as he jumped away. Can anyone help me with this? Please and thank you. o/

if you don't have both you can't buy it ingame.




Correct but it should have been FREE in my opinion. Spec-wise I don't think it is that great a ship either. Oh well.



No idea about others, but i personally don't feel sad that i have no access to either Viper or Cobra Mk.4. For those who are completionists it might be a utter loss though.


the viper mk iv is not that bad but the cobra mk iv should have been called something els like the cobra IIIb the extra armour does not make any sense if it makes the ship slower and the extra hardpoint is use less if the power generator and distributor are to small to run every

I haven't tried it yet. The stats are so unimpressive. What use does it have which makes it competitive with any other option (genuine question)? For me it looks like a really cheap Python.

Who else thinks that the python is one of most underated ships in the game?

As it is one of the most balanced ships in the game good manoeuvrability firepower armour speed cargospace number of internals and ship systems. and don't forget the hardpoint placements .

It is a rather dull ship to fly as its does not feel special ,even the sidewinder has more character.
I give you that and its not as glamorous as the FDL or Anaconda .

But it does every thing extremely well .

IMO, Cobra Mk IV is too heavy, too slow, I don't like it for combat, for other uses like mining, maybe, but for that I would rather wait a bit to buy a T6.

I love my Python, but do you not think its maybe too balanced? I sometimes wish is was that little bit more maneuverable, but then again maybe my FDL has spoiled me...

Its like the cobra mk III its also perfectly balanced.
I used the python in most roles (don't forget its an multirole ship) so the balance is good the hardpoint placements and power generator
allows it use turreted weapons to compensate the manoeuvrability .
as the FDL is a high end bounty hunter build for combat but it has its problems when first introduced with the lack of power .
and capacitors . after the upgrade it became more balanced.

You should be able to buy a Viper Mk4


I thought the viper mk 4 was available to every one except for the betas and higher who got 1 for free.

Who says that just because it has a higher number that it needs to be faster or 'better'? It's just another variant. They didn't make it faster, they added a hardpoint, etc.

Who says that just because it has a higher number that it needs to be faster or 'better'? It's just another variant. They didn't make it faster, they added a hardpoint, etc.


The point is this ship has no role in the game as there are better alternatives for this ship its heavy slow sluggish and underpowered .
it would make sense if the prise gap between ships are larger.
the extra hard point and armour doesn't provide the protection you want to survive an interdiction with an other ship
Having an alternative cobra mk 3 with a bigger cargo bay same armour and hard points and slightly less speed would make sense.

CoragonCurrently sporting a Federal Corvette, needing a A 8 PP to have it fully A-rated minus my SCB's which i prefer to be B. After completing that goal i probably save up for a A-graded Python again to do some Trading, or if i get really insane a T-9.

I'm hopeful the introduction of the engineers and module crafting/upgrading will fix that issue and allow for specialisation. theoretically that should place the python in a great position.

Going in head first in Ch'i Lin trying to down some ships for the CG but I don't seem to be doing much damage to their ships. I took on a Python last night & it took me forever to destroy it - used up all my ammo to do it & finished it off with lasers.
I met a Cobra MK 3 I think today & I wasn't doing much damage there either. Its shields were down - that wasn't the problem. The hull seems like its 3 miles thick The damage meter goes down ever so slowly it feels like I'm going at it with a dull spoon. I'm using a 1G multi-cannon & 1E cannon. I guess they're not powerful enough?
