Sir Sprockettso mistakes will be made.

Whether it is or isn't a mistake depends on what you expect from that build.

Obviously every outfitting/engineering decision is a tradeoff. You can optimize for speed, range, durability, utility, DPS, cargo capacity etc. but not for all at once. It took me weeks to get my Courier to that sweet spot where it felt just right for me. And that's really just me. If you ask Epi, he'll point out the numerous flaws in my setup.  :D I'm aware of them, but fixing them would require compromising on other things that I consider important.

Regarding heat management I've come to the conclusion that for a nimble ship the ability to release short bursts of high damage is more valuable than the ability to keep firing non-stop at low DPS. So my method of preventing heat damage on the Courier is to limit power distribution to weapons. Since my Courier is lightweight and fast by default, it doesn't need boost to keep up with enemies in PvE, so I fly with 4/0/2 pips in combat and 4/2/0 outside combat most of the time.

It is not necessarily a flaw - I just think that specialization is better then generalization.  That means in your particular case your ship is specialized for you. Which is fine. I would use just multiple variants which perform better in specific case and worse in all others.

... In matter of fact,  Steadfast which is marked as my flagship is an generalized build I do enjoy. Sadly, I fly it less nowadays as I have specialized ship for different activities.

i get that - I was running 2/0/4 verse NPC's - the cooling comes in when you want to snipe those modules. it works for me - I was also flying 50%FA off which makes All Right Guv? fairly hard to hit. my biggest threat is missals hence I run an ECM which works a treat - saved me a few time during the CG

You have a carrier to store your fleet and take it where you need it. That changes the game a lot. Flying back and forth to switch ships is a pain in the butt.

That means if you keep firing your weapons you'll start overheating after 33 seconds.

Just for the record - I own the FC just for three months. I had 95% of the ships prior that and I was doing just fine without a mobile base. The reason for acquiring a FC was not to carry my ships arround but to use it in some edge cases (eg. The Coalsack double engineered FSD CG).

Although, currently 30% of my fleet is on the FC, I am planing to reduce the numbers to just few essentials I will need.

I just looked at the attribute name for that field - 'outfitting_stats_wpnempty_heat' but it is marked as 'errorr' . So pretty much it confirms what Sakashiro said. If you keep firing all your weapons with max trust you will get overheat in that time. With some changes this can be prevented in which case you will get a normal X% thermal values which means you won't overheat even with empty WEP capacitor.

Hey Folks,

Fed rank - what a grind!!

Want my vette but the grind is insane..

I checked forums, and rescue missions from damaged stations can't do because there are no damaged stations.

Ochosi and Chakpa data runs are extremely minimal even with high faction rank and the missions are dryer that the Sahara.

I'm chief petty officer and my soul is dead..

Any advice? I'm verging on giving up forgetting the vette

Ochosi triangle is the most effective way without rescue missions but both are just a grind. The other option is to find a stations with 3-4 fed factions and do high value reputation missions (eg. assassination, massacre and so on) it is slower but subjectively less repetitive/grind.

Lastly, you should remember that those ships are behind high rank for reasons. They are not supposed to be easy unlock.

Grind is a major obstacle to having fun in ED in my opinion.
