New players who need someone "from above" pointing them towards "stuff they need to do" aren't going to play for long, as I think.

absolutely agree with this position

OtohaSpeaking of CG. Apparently they're skipping this week. So many new game pass players with no CG, i know they're focusing on the Alpha about to start and stuff. But the hype train isn't gonna build itself. It's not like frontier is known for great marketing, newbies need something to do

The newbies i meet like a little direction to start. This game doesn't give much, most have no idea where to start so having somewhere to take them helps. Not a single person dropped into this game knowing exactly what to do or where to go. Almost every person here participated in the first CG available to them when they started

"You can do billions of credits by mining! A pair of weeks and you could afford anything! I'll help you purchase a ship and equipment, show you an asteroid belt and tell you what to do! Just land on that carrier..."

I watched a YouTube blogger who started the game with no experience, and did not use third-party sites on principle. Played only on the LOR of the game. I liked how he managed to become almost elite, how he learned the game on his own. It depends on the motivation, it seems to me.
For those new to the game, there's just a lot of interesting, new and impressive stuff in the game. It's harder with content for those who have been in the game a long time.
How much content could we organize ourselves if pilots could pay to each other with credits in the game? but, we have to wait for content from the developers.
IMHO

Pops Ravendisho7 Greetings Commanders

So you need Prismatic Shields to protect your combat ship? Here is a quick and easy grind to achieve that goal.
After you have been aligned with Aisling Duval for a minimum of 4 weeks....
On a Wednesday I flew my longest-ranged ship to Wababa System, Roelofs Station. I had my Type 9 with 752 Tons of Cargo space ( around $2 M Cr from where it was at) delivered to Roelofs. When it arrives go to the Power Contact and buy 750 T of Media Materials. It is an expensive grind. You can only buy the Materials in 10 T lots, each costing $100,000, and it takes time. Buy 10 hit okay, select buy, buy 10 and repeat, 75 times at $100,000 per revolution equals $7,500,000 Cr.
Then fly to HIP 1572, about 18.54 Ly. Proceed to Cannon Station, about 88 Ls. (both stations have large pads so there are no issues there). Go to the Power Contact and sell/donate the 750 T of Media Materials. Then return to Roelofs Station. I picked up 752 T of leather, so I wouldn't be deadheading (Trader at heart) and made around $400 K Cr for my trouble.
I parked for the night. When you log back in the following day (Thursday after 0700 Game time,) you will find that you have been promoted to Rating 3 which unlocks the Prismatic Shield.
Go to outfitting, trade one of your 8E cargo racks for an 8A prismatic shield, your balance will be another $237,782, 735 lighter, but you will be good to go.
I hope this will help.

If you don’t want to hurt powerplay, look for a power‘s discort server and ask what you can do without hurting them.

What you described is definitely NOT what players should do.

1) CG's are hardly 'direction' on how to start. At best they are interesting lore bits with bonus rewards that make certain achievements easier to obtain. At worst, they give explicit instructions on how to do a CG which doesn't teach anyone how exactly to get similar permits normally (in this last CG's case).
b) I for one dropped into this game knowing exactly what to do because I played the original and new exactly what I wanted to get out of this game
Everything else was just candy on top.

Frankly, a nice break from CG's is welcome at this point. Some of us are getting behind in our BGS work.

I think it was after about a month of play that I did my first CG. I was just way too busy doing other stuff to even care or notice.
26 Mar 2021, 12:35pm
It's direction where little else is offered, and a significant credit opportunity for a brand new player. It's no surprise many, if not most new players gravitate to them to get started. I'm not saying some blasphemous thing here. I'm not going to start defending another opinion of mine to the pious crowd again. We know where that'll lead and i don't want to do that to artie again. ED just broke it's record for players online in a month, game pass did that. I'm just trying to help that, sue me

Players who wants the module would do the easiest thing to them not what they are supposed to do according to power play enthusiasts. Module shopping is a thing and all players involved in power play should have long accepted this simple fact.

My first CG was the one where we were asked to haul materials to build new capital ships for the superpowers last year. Of course I supported the Empire (as you should!). And it was very exiting to see if we could manage to reach T4 before it ended. Reaching it was a real feel-good moment, sort of overcoming the inherent Anti-Imperial bias within the playerbase.

...oh, and of course earning me this decal for reaching Top 10% on my first CG ever

That's one proud imperial wrench

Do not worry, I have same but I also have the Federation version too. And you can even put them together on one ship

Rat CatcherThe CG rewards (not credits) will be in storage for you at the relevant station by the end of today...

Thank you, Roger that.
I'm not really worried too much ))

Hey, at least you can properly identify the Empire Eagle on that decal... the Fedneck version though... is that supposed to be a crosshair?

"Imperials, please shoot here and end my pathetic Fedneck existance?"
