You wouldn't want to race through canyons in your light exploration ship, when you've gone some weeks or months into the black. I'd say most explorers are not adrenalin junkies.

I'd say if they weren't adrenaline junkies they wouldn't want to race through canyons at all.
But yeah, I haven't looked at it from that angle. Still, adding 20t for a SLF hangar... I find the 6t SRV hangar quite heavy already, but at least it is somewhat useful for gathering synthesis materials during a trip. And it can be used for racing as well.
As a side note, the SRV will continue being useful after Odyssey is released because it can be deployed on planets that are too hot or too cold to disembark on foot.

I suppose some fun is always welcome. In an SLF it's rather risk free. No need for adrenaline jumps.

SniperGhost104Isn't the range like 30km on those things? Anyway, couldn't you just set the mothership to follow mode and solve the problem?
You could, but the SLF is still a fair amount faster than the motherships.

EpisparhI use SLF in my exploration Anaconda as a camera drone.
This is what I find most explorers use SLF for. Less canyon racing, more vanity projects.
For me just never got into the conda’s handling. Prefer a smaller ship.
