SakashiroBtw, is there an explanation in the lore for why ships heat up so much when they fly across a planet surface upside down?

No idea if there is an actual lore explanation but here's what I assume based on basic physics:

The ships in game are space ships and do not have aerodynamic lifting bodies or wings and right now the planets we can land on / fly close to the surface of don't have an atmosphere to facilitate aerodynamic lift anyway. Basically, when flying close to a planet's surface your ship's ventral and dorsal thrusters (depending if you're upside down/right side up) are what is keeping you from falling out of the sky. Therefore, your ship heats up more than it normally would because those thrusters have to burn constantly until you either land or point straight up so your main drives can do all the work..

Yep. Your ship has limited capability to remove heat from itself so the more work the thrusters have to do the faster heat builds up. Same for turning sharply upward, especially when charging up the FSD at the same time. The thrusters underneath your ship do seem to have an easier time than the ones on top while near a planet surface however, even though in space they seem to perform about the same.

Usually the thrusters bellow are stronger. This means when you flip the ship upside down the weaker thrusters need to work harder. In addition, the heat vents are usually placed on top side of the ship, perhaps if you are close to a surface the heat is reflected back to the ship.... Not sure how this works without atmosphere

A_WhisperFor future reference:

Deep charge is best for size 4 and under, while Mass manager is best for 5+.

Deep charge allows to burn more fuel per jump but reduces fuel efficiency. That means a full fuel tank will take you considerably less far, and you will spend more time on scooping.

Mass manager increases fuel efficiency. You will burn the same amount of fuel per jump as before, but you'll jump farther with it.

I strongly recommend mass manager for any FSD size, including small ones. The slight edge that deep charge can have in jump range isn't worth its downsides.

thanks that helps. Mass manager it is

Oh, look, the tinfoil hat faction still exists in 3307...

Neo-Marlinists Expose Hadrian Duval as NMLA Leader

Imperator Hadrian Augustus Duval of Nova Imperium is the mastermind behind the NMLA, according to classified information leaked from within ACT.

Independent journalist Flint ‘Firemaker’ Lafosse published the details on the Rewired network:

“Hadrian Duval: the illegitimate embarrassment of the Imperial Family, or their secret terrorist nemesis? That’s the story being told by survivors from the Neo-Marlinist Order of Mudhrid, who gave up their secrets to save their own skins.”

“According to my source, Landgrave Delacroix confessed to ACT that his faction transported enzyme bombs and Nova Imperium assassins to their targets on the direct orders of Hadrian Duval, who promised rewards and political power in return.”

“Delacroix also revealed that Hadrian was converted to Neo-Marlinism a year ago by his consort Astrid Minerva, a top NMLA agent. She convinced him that becoming Emperor would be much easier if all the other Duvals were dead!”

“As for the NMLA’s attempt on Hadrian’s life last October, that was faked in order to gain the Imperial Family’s trust. Just another false flag operation – which, as we truth-seekers know, can be found everywhere.”

As yet this information has not been verified, and its source remains anonymous. There has been no comment from either ACT or Nova Imperium.

More information about Flint "Firemaker" Lafosse can be found here...

Violent power struggles within autocratic regimes? Never heard of that before. Must be fake news...

Even so: Lets wait for the official report by ACT, shall we?

o7 Commanders,

I want to say what a joy it is to read all of your prose. I'm not much for writing or responding but to the newbies who want to do things, I enjoyed an exploration of the galaxy from Pilots Federation to Colonia and DSS every system in-between that my AspX (which is engineered to do 45LY per jump) landed on until my FC caught up then it was on to another 500 LYs. It was a great way to pass the time and pick up creds. When I find a system with pristine rings I would stay awhile and bank some tritium, LTDs and void opals. Have packed a few FC's with that booty. No pirates or gankers out that far, btw. Hope I can do a walk-about when On-foot comes to Horizon. There is alot of stuff to do. I'm back in the Pelieades sector now trying to locate some spires and meta-alloys, but it is pretty picked over so far. Anyway, good luck and again, love the prose!

ShveglHi guys. tell me, will a ship with a large platform land in the Guardian system with weapon blueprints? I would like to fly on a Cutter to fill the hold as much as possible

Blueprints do not take-up cargo space and it better to go in a small ship some guardian sites are a nightmare to land.

Also the dietary supplements sold during his newsfeeds are highly dubious.

Bangin' my head because it's either obvious bullshit, or the new Elite writers didn't read the last two years of established 'plot'.

Stop trying to make an Imperial civil war... it's now failed like 4 times already.

Or Frontier cheaped up on writers and got some that don't care about established plot.
