I found the neutron highway actually slowing me down. Fastest method for me is to filter the galaxy map for OBAFGKM, and then just jump, scoop, jump, scoop, jump, scoop... almost like auto-pilot. No wrestling with neutron jets, no FSD maintenance, no prolonged scooping because of skips, etc.

Important: Use the largest A-rated fuel scoop your ship can fit. Don't let scooping slow you down. The DBX, despite its jump range, is not ideal for this because its fuel scoop is smaller than its FSD.

SnapStrThe remoteness of the Colony makes me assume that new inventions by our engineers await us. I think we're in for new FDS or Thargoid relocation technology. After all, 22,000 light years is a long way off for our FSD's. What do you think?

I have two theories regarding this:
1) double engineering will become a standard mechanic,
2) The Taxi feature will make trips to Colonia etc. trivial.

The neutron highway did help with the travel out to Colonia, but it is still a very long way, hence staying out here a few weeks.

I do bubble - Colonia in 3h and this is almost 3 times longer than the record.

3 hours? No wonder nearly every planet i stopped at on my way out was unexplored. It took me weeks, and got me to elite in exploration, which I feel was a little too easy.
Sometime I'll return to the bubble, but not any time soon.

And yes, seems like there is plenty of space out here for factions if that is your gig.

You can become "an elite explorer" mapping the ELWs and terraformables inside the bubble! :p

A taxi to Colonia would be pretty cool. Wonder how much that would cost and what would people be willing to pay for such a trip?

I'm pondering buying a carrier, but I'm confused by a few suggestions I've seen that it could make it quicker to get to Colonia.
Either this isn't the case or I'm totally misunderstanding carrier jumps.
The wiki says that there's a 15 minute preparation and a 5 minute cooldown. So: no more than 3 jumps per hour, at <= 500 ly each.
That's nearly 15 hours of non-stop jumping to get to Colonia, i.e. massively slower than a normal ship can do it even without neutron-jumping.

So I guess people probably aren't intending to imply that carriers can get to Colonia quicker?

Maybe, but somehow they will have to justify the speed of the taxi. Or it will be very long, judging by how long it takes the shipyards to move the ship. Still, the version with Thargoid technology is closer to me.
So far, I can't say that traveling to The Colony is exciting. Maybe only near the end, when the sky changes.

You also have to keep in mind the amount of tritium for this trip.

Yes, that seems to be not really in the spirit of exploration to me.

Would be nice if taxi rides were passenger missions for other commanders, maybe with a sliding scale for speed of delivery.
A vomit inducing 3 hour trip could be expensive, while a deadline of next week could be comparatively cheap.

Although I don't own a carrier, I wouldn't get one just for the sake of jumping large distances quickly. The only thing I can see that no other ship can do (think of carriers like your very own mobile station, they're not actually a ship per se) is that they can make a 500 ly jump.

Most decently-built & equipped ships can outpace a carrier, & cost a HUGE amount less to own & operate.

Just my opinion & thoughts on the matter. I'm sure others who actually own a carrier will chime in.

"Hi All,

I'm pretty new to the game and I must admit it's a very addictive game.
I've watched lots of videos on Youtube about mining and I've got core mining pretty much down-packed now.

I have however noticed that Void Opals are nowhere near the price being sold for in the videos.
I think the most I've seen per tonne is 400k. Has there been an update that changed this recently?

Musgravite now seems to be the mineral of choice. I sold 50t yesterday for 800k per tonne."

Hi "Bin Juice", You must wait untill monday and the price I beleve wil increase. Long time no miner but that's what I did in a past.

Absolutely. Ranks are badly unbalanced. I'm not an exploration type not by any means, but become a pompous Pioneer (+ some percents, 10 or so) mapping known ELWs in bubble. Even skipped Terraformables if there's no ELWs in the same system. Just tried to stack up credits for FDL and A-grade stuff. Trade rank? Never did big cargo trade, occasional smuggling, but I'm an... ta-daaaam! Entrepreneur! Was mining 500t of random core resources and 15t of Painite for Selene Jean.

Combat rank, on the other hand... I'm living in CZs for six weeks or so. Not forcing up a rank grind, sticking to the task at hand (winning battles, doing missions, ensuring BGS faction advantage etc.), but yet doing average of 100 kills per day (up to 250 on some days when I have totally nothing to do except ED) of opponents no lower than Competent, and I'm still halfway from Deadly to Elite.

That is very interesting. Is that with a Guardian FDS booster?

I used the Neutron router going out, but haven’t unlocked any Guardian goodies just yet so it took me quite a bit longer.

Yes. My Relentless have 72 ly jump range and the record was made with shieldless 84ly jumpaconda...if I recall correctly it was like 1h 6min or something. I am a casual so 3h is fast enough for me. Keep in mind that this is only jumping, scooping and honking. I do not stop for anything.

I don't own a carrier, but I did crunch a few numbers that might interest you. A one way trip to Colonia consumes about 11,000 tons of Tritium (more or less depending on how much cargo). 11,000 tons of Tritium is worth about 500M credits.
