I do have one problem though: Despite all the kills, my combat rank progress is slow because there aren't enough high-ranked ships in CZs and hazRES. So I'm wondering, what's the fastest way to farm Elite NPCs?

And if you don't like the road, maybe you don't need the goal?
p.s. Of course you wanted a 'completionist'-type answer, perharps. 'How to grind that thing fast'. But you still can think about something else than game of numbers and spreadsheet wars.

Try Pirate Lord wing assasination missions? They will certainly be challenging and will mainly be elite rated opponents.
with the added benefit of plenty of high-grade mats to collect along the way.
Thargoid scouts used to be elite rank but have been turned down recently.

You do not know what is suicide-winder-express?
- Buy cheap ship - preferably sidewinder.
- Undock and leave station.
- Attack station!
- Do not rebuy your cheap ship you bought on step one.
- Pick free sidewinder and you will respawn at career start in the bubble!

There’s no getting around the fact that you need to make a large number of kills. As I remember, CNB’s attracted a decent number of Elite ships - the small fast ones were my favourite and quite a challenge. You could also train up a NPC pilot - they take some of your bounty’s and some rep, but I found it added some interest and eased the monotony. I got quite attached to mine.

@Epi - This is crazy, haha! Instant teleportation back to the bubble just seems like a crazy oversight.

On my visit to Colonia, I bought a DBX to return to the Bubble, and transferred the Sidewinder after arrival. I remember the transfer took several days. At least it wasn't expensive.
