Seth BradwellThe Imperial ships have never suited my playing style. The Courier is far less value for money than a Cobra, the Clipper can't be docked at outposts and it's hardpoint placement mostly precludes the use of fixed weapons, and I have only recently ranked up enough to get a Cutter, and again I struggle to see what I can do in that I can't do in a Conda or T9. I may look at them again at some point, see if I can make the most out of what they are, but other ships seem far more practical, the Empire really does put form over function.

The Clipper is the best at core mining if you dont want to use outposts, and the Cutter is only better than the T9 and conda as a open play trader or mining ship (Due to insane shields). If it wasnt for literally this I would also never fly Imperial ships.

I keep thinking about making a heavy duty combat Cutter due to those aforementioned insane shields - or in the least a trader that can hold its own when dealing with pirates (even in solo I have come a cropper against NPC pirates in a T9). Other than that, speccing a Courier for 800-plus boost speed sounds fun, might be interesting taking on bigger quarry whilst boosting in and out of weapons range, but that's about it. As for mining, I like to be able to get a good deal at outposts I wouldn't at standard stations, so will be sticking to a Python for that.

i am now double elite. my cutter got me to trade elite with some simple loop trade involving gold. my python and asp did a good chunk with core mining. and my first was exploration which i did in my asp.

Meh. Never found why people like so much having such a fast ship when you cant really use it for anything. If you go Cutter for combat most of the time in PVE a Corvette probably does the same but better and in PVP im pretty sure Large ships are just worse than FDLs anyway. Trading is the only real use I see for Cutters and only if I want to play in open otherwise I will stick to my T9.

regarding to ship.
my courier is literally for courier missions
my clipper is for first class Vip missions
my cutter is for trade, mining, low level combat+material collecting and material collecting.
its just versatile
i could use my conda but that thing is built solely for its 76ly range and i dont want to mess with it. type 9 is a flying brick.

my cutter is also quite fast at about 430m/s i think its shields are currently 6A pris with 2 boosters and a guardian booster so it sits at about 1000 points i also have a spare shield for it which is an enhanced low power 8C bi-wave but i forgot how strong it was stronger that the 6A i think.
but i just wanted extra space from that size 8 compartment.

my viper goes at around 818m/s and i tell you now its fun and might be useful of odyssey. but i mainly used it for planetary scan missions without an srv. quick in scan and zoom off

I prefer Courier over Cobra because of superior speed, superior shields, and superior looks.

cobra is a bit trashy

Hot take: The courier is the ugliest ship in game tied with the keelback.

Cobra looks like a 1980s car. Lamborghini Countach or similar.

Courier is basically a Tesla Roadster.

I guess you've never seen the Fed bricks or Alliance ships then?

... and 3 x C2 hardpoints, too

LOL if anything the alliance ships are the best lookers in the game, and the federal ships are just meh.

Just bought a Keelback for mining and transport missions

Oh hell no... especially when those three have their landing gear deployed. Seriously, whenever I see an Alliance Chieftain, Challenger or Crusader on a landing pad my only thought is "Hopefully its owner will clean up after it's done..."
