MeowersIs there any sense and reason to go exploring with something in your cargo bay?

I'll usually go exploring with at least a few limpets in my cargo hold, just in case I happen to pop into a system in the middle of 2 or more close-orbiting stars, & that has happened.

I've never had or used a AMFU (yet) & if things got that bad, I can always re-boot to repair as needed & limp somewhere that I can get a complete repair. AFMU won't repair the hull, though, hence why I do equip a repair module & at least a few limpets - their mass doesn't deduct that much from my jump range & I'd rather save my materials synthesizing limpets if I happen to need them. I consider it a small price to pay.

If you get caught in a star sandwich and overheat, your internal modules will start taking damage at 100% heat, and your hull will start melting at 150%. So you'll need an AFMU before you need hull repair limpets. But what's worse, the cargo hatch will fail first, so you'll likely lose those limpets before there is any hull damage for them to repair.

Another tip: If you have a supercruise assist module equipped, disable hyperspace dethrottle. Because when you get into a star sandwich, there's usually a star behind you that is too close and heats you up without you realizing it. If you enter the system at 100% throttle, you are more likely to escape before heat levels get critical.

Lambast MercyChocolate Gateau, lots and lots of Chocolate Gateau, and mint-choc milkshakes should take up most of your cargo space.

Well, since I'm allergic to chocolate, I see no wonder in fact that world is trying to get rid of me via putting something into my food, if straightforward shooting at me isn't giving any result. Mwahahaha. So I'll stick to meat-rich rations and LOTS of tea.

Personally I don`t go more than 50 l/yrs without a case of stellar artois.

The original comment said nothing about exploring specifically. Only that there was no reason not to stop and honk. I gave a reason I do not stop to honk. I honk most systems I pass through on longer trips. But I always keep moving. The data is a tiny extra bit of income.

Charging your Discovery Scanner takes less time than charging your FSD.

So the only reason not to do it is to avoid holding down a button for a few seconds.

That's true. In fact, I automatically honk after a jump.
I Seldom visit a new system these days, but the habit is hard to brake.

I just said I do it almost every system. I just don't *stop* to do it, which was the original comment I replied to.

Yeah, same here, except short runs from one system with CZs to another (in combat HUD mode). A good habit I guess.

& I'm just the opposite; anything I might get from selling any small bit of cargo I acquire along the way, not from doing cargo runs, is purely incidental & secondary to my main interest, exploring.

My main exploration ship is an AspX & agile enough to escape any NPC interdiction attempts. If I were to need to GTFO if I failed, the double-engineered FSD will do the job. I do have heavier, less maneuverable, better armed & armored ships to use if I were to focus on any cargo runs, but I don't explore with them.

In the last two weeks, there have been no messages about the write-off of funds for the fleet carrier. Did anyone have the same problem?

Same thing for me as well.

Light-HawkWrite-off for fleet carrier funds?

Upkeep cost paid and damage repaired after FSD jumps.

I didn't know we got a message about that. Thought it just auto deducted from carrier funds and we were just expected to know what the upkeep would be based on how we had the ship setup.
