Aileen LeithFarming creds for FC is much easier, than farming start-up capital imho.

But it's still farming. Not 'doing something that you enjoy'. But... there's people who like to do mining, for example... I think it's more about personal preferences and play style.

Mining is still the profitable. 30 mins in a python right now going after Painite can net you 44 million. Not quite sure when it comes to EDO and profit.

Aleksander Majjam30 mins in a python

Question was about a Cobra originally.

p.s. Ah, sorry. 'Having only a Cobra' line was in another section. But yeah, it's a 'restart'.

CMDR StupidDumbDumb does. He interdicted me once, according to my logs.

That Courier must have been really bare bones. Boost speed >850 requires drag drives and very lightweight builds.

Got a mining Anaconda for most of the minerals out there. Python is a great starter for core mining I think, but I'm not sure for a Cobra setup for mining. Keelback sure, but Cobra MKIII I am at an honest lose.

During Civil Wars and Wars you can still get the usual Wing Missions for anything up to 50mil for killing 72 ships if Allied with the respective Minor faction. I personally like the Pirate kill Missions that give you the same amount of cash for only killing 15-30 targets.

And finally there are these Missions you can only find in EDO from what I can tell that make it so easy to be rich these days because you can buy the Commodity rather then mining it.

Mining with python/anaconda or doing trade missions is not starting money.

Here what starting money are:
1. Sidewinder in High RES shadowing authority vessels and hitting criminals in last 5% of their hull to collect bounty vauchers.
2. Running courier missions (rather slower than first method) .
3. After getting 2-3 mil with previous methods, a D rated Hauler with fuel scoop on road to riches.

* Mining cobra mk3 requires 10mil and serious effort to find components and build it. It also requires some knowledge where and how. An experienced player will fill it with 2-3 cores, a newbie will most likely will not crack a single one.

Making money in ED: O means is BS. The best profit you can make is by doing high CZ - 20m/h or relog fest at Irregular markers scavenging narcotics. A risky endeavor because of randomly spawning scavengers which may net you up to 35m/h. Both requires at least grade 3 gear.

Edit: Actually you can make more money in high CZ with ship and dumbfire missiles because you are credited with bonds even if you kill friendlies or not pick a side. A lame implementation by Frontier which I expect patching.

The moment you kill one NPC you'll be put on the opposing team which is your "choice" then. Accidentially tested that yesterday when coming into a High CZ and wasn't offered to choose a side so unless that is different when shooting from your ship it seems they fixed that oversight. Also your own folks are immune to friendly fire at least from your personal weapons, again no idea if that translates to ship / SRV fire.

I haven't tried this for awhile, it might be fixed with one of those server side patches. Last time I've played ground CZ was federation independence CG but I did there the indented game play AKA on-foot.

With the Cobra you would need to choose between core mining or conventional laser mining and equip modules accordingly. As you say, the Python is a far better all-round mining ship and will do both easily in one build, but at a far higher cost to a new Cmdr.

I disagree. You need seismic charge launcher and abrasion blaster for cores, mining laser for laser mining and sub surface displacement missile for sub surface deposits. You can fit all this in cobra but you will need to manage power and disable some stuff if you do not use them.

Mining perfectly fits the 'maximise credits per hour ratio' mantra, but can make you sick, tired, bored, hating everything.
14 Jul 2021, 8:48am
I'd rather be broke than go out mining.

I'd rather rob some freighters in CG

I can definitely get on board with that.
