I hear ya. But I think it will be pretty hard to determine how good the new shard cannon will be prior to testing. But if there is a chance of the engineered shard cannon being better, than I am supporting that option.

Yeah, it will be rofl stomp for Salvation side. Not to mention that Federation, Empire and Alliance support Aegis.
BTW, that is cool way they announce that the module will be "hot".
