I've just been banned from the GEA discord.

And the GEA is....?

BurstarAnd the GEA is....?

"Gank Evasion Academy", a bunch of gankers posing as mentors on how to evade... themselves, I guess.

Their channel had been idle for a while, but when I suggested to engineer a Courier and put an interdictor on it for "training", it exploded.

Any fleet carriers going from colonia to the bubble soon? Trying to hop a ride home

Having an engineered courier means you do not need gank evasion. Adding interdictor on it and interdicting gankers is like applying salt on a wound.

Well, they said I would be "torn apart by long range rails" if I do that.

Then they said the reason why I have NOT been torn apart by long range rails yet is because all the gankers "worth their salt" are no longer playing Elite.

Then they said evading in a Courier is too easy, so I reminded them that they had earlier told me I would be torn apart by long range rails, so apparently it's easy and hard at the same time?

Then they called me an idiot for not taking advice from them. And they asked me why I was in the GEA discord if I was unwilling to learn from them. So I said that's a valid question, because the founder of GEA had recently been ganked himself, ignoring all the lessons he was teaching to others. Their response: Yeah, we gank each other all the time, that's perfectly normal. So I said, well, you won't gank me, that's for sure.

Oh, and they said pulling gankers is a "waste of time". To which I responded, it's a game, how could it NOT be a waste of time?

Then they posted some cat pictures, curled up in a ball and ejected me.

I hope I've painted a target on my back by doing this. It'll make the game less boring.

I know PvP'er never share their secrets, but can you post a build for that Courier?

Her builds are public. Visit her profile by clicking her name here. Then inspect fleet, find what you need and export to edsy or Coriolis.

It is not hard to find the build in questions she have just few ship.

Rayman.Yeah its insane. I need to spend more time on space trucking if i want to be top 10%. I really want this onion skin for cobra mk3. Bounty hunting is some kind of joke in this system. They could have added pirate activity instead of weapons fire signal

Farm the Tor megaship. It spawns a pirate event that nets you between 5 - 10 million per turn.

Doubtful. Those that would, would do it anyways. I took the liberty of reading your discussion on the GEA discord (because I'm finding it harder and harder to actually load up the game nowadays ). Your description of the conversation is remarkably accurate but understandably doesn't acknowledge how reasonable they were being. I didn't see any salt, rather they mostly said things along the lines of "Courier interdiction builds are nothing new and don't teach you anything".

Frankly Saka they were right. While your Courier build does allow you to annoy gankers with relative impunity (and I applaud your efforts you cheeky minx) that's all it's good for if we're being honest about it. If you ever change ship to do anything else the lessons you 'learnt' in the Courier will not help but will actually harm because you will be in the habit of not doing the right things.

Also, they did more than post cat pics. They pointed out Dangerous.com got you a couple months ago

Nah, they weren't right. My original suggestion was to start with a Courier and then proceed to slower ships to increase the difficulty. They completely ignored the second half and kept moving the goal posts.

Alleycat is a specialized build, but it's not the only one I evaded ganks with. And the fact that almost a year ago Snowblood was once destroyed in a CZ because engineering had reset some power priorities to 1, doesn't prove them right.

They are pretending that gank evasion is some sort of martial arts that's difficult to master. It isn't. You submit, turn around and boost, select a system, fly in unpredictable ways while the FSD charges, then high-wake. If your shields and hull hold up long enough, you escape. The slower your ship is, the more shields and hull you need. If the ganker carries Grom bombs and your ship is slow and doesn't have a fast boot FSD, you're screwed. That's all there is to it. And this rule applies to every ship in the game.

What makes Alleycat special is that it's fast enough to low-wake instead. It can't be mass-locked. So you can stay in the system and, with a little luck, immediately interdict the ganker when they low-wake. You can keep them occupied with chain interdictions, taunt them in system chat, etc. And they hate it. It disrupts their apex predator power fantasy. Being trolled like that also lowers their social status within their little community. Note how well informed they were about my stunt with Kevin Banana, and how they tried to play it down. They said he only lost because his ship was carrying frag cannons instead of rails. Here's what Kevin told me after our first encounter:

Their claim about long range rails is BS, and they know it. GEA is an exercise in buffoonery; the last thing they want you to know is how to stand up to bullies.

Btw, when they talk about long range rails and "straightlining", this is what they mean:

I met deZpe last year during a CG. He tried to rail-snipe me like that. It didn't work.

Ganking is pointless activity.... So, is trolling.
