EpisparhEDO is asking a price tag for something that was "ready" in May. Five months later Frontier still struggle to deliver acceptable performance and bug free game. Odyssey is just an expansion - and as expansion it breaks the existing game more than it brings to it. Hopefully, devs will fix it in the next few years but definitely the beta experience do not worth the price tag.

And this is why all this discussion started, someone who had Horizons asked if Odyssey worth buying now. Poor performance, plenty of bugs, lack of meaningful gameplay and integration with the base game. On top of that half thought new UI that actually removes more features than it actually adds.



Well lets just hope that it will improve with time as it has always done in the past and everyone will find exactly what they want and are looking for in Odyssey.

I have a relatively old config ,I am sure in comparison to many but I am more interested in the game than I am in how many FPS. While, I know everyone cannot possibly have a machine that is up to specs as requested for every game and even if that was the case and they did . Unfortunately today you cannot believe everything you read so you will have many that will be disappointed and let down because the hype is not the truth concerning what you find when you make the decision to move forward and buy. This game if I am not mistaken has existed since 1984 and has evolved a whole lot since those days. The developers today are more interested in making money for the most part but at least they have create something that is still very good and interesting to play with enough content to keep you playing so its not perfect and it has many flaws for many persons but it still offers enough to keep many persons playing with bad configs like mines and better configs perhaps like yours.

I have a lot of negative impressions of the Odyssey, and performance is far from the first place. I tried to do exobiology and realized that the one who worked out these mechanics himself definitely does not play the game.
Can you tell what you liked about Odyssey? What it can take more than 10 hours of play?

FDev's decision to split the galaxy and keep client 3.8 installed as a fallback option was announced about one week before the release of Odyssey. The original plan to have client 4.0 take over the entire game by May 19th has been postponed indefinitely.

A glitch during the alpha test showed that client 4.0 can already run in Horizons mode with all the Odyssey features and content locked away. So the galaxy divide is an open beta in all but name. It shows that FDev is perfectly aware that a full rollout of client 4.0 would have nothing but downsides for those who didn't purchase Odyssey. Almost four months in, this situation hasn't changed, and even update 7 won't be the final fix.

Since release day there have been folks claiming that everything is fine with Odyssey and that all the complaints about it are unjustified. Well then, why don't you go to FDev's forum and ask for an end of the galaxy divide that is bleeding the game dry? If you're so sure that client 4.0 is ready for prime time, why don't you try to convince FDev? They could retire client 3.8 by tomorrow if they wanted to, so what do you think is holding them back?

I think what is holding them back is the fact that they don't really care what people want or were expecting at this point , it was about making money and that they have done. So the rest is really history. This was more than obvious from the beginning in terms of Odyssey it was only about making more profits for the company not about quality or anything else as in the past and this you can see in the number of complaints. If we get lucky or at least those persons that are not at all happy with the performance issues as I have stated before then they may do something to improve things for the community at larger otherwise they have what they wanted and everyone else has lost. I still feel that it is sad to see so many complaints about this game as it has been around for such a long time and Odyssey is not as bad for everyone as it is for some. I have not done statics on the matter so I can's say if the majority of persons suffer from bad performance levels or not so I will not go down that path. I can say that I have not seen them and that is perhaps because I have bought Odyssey with intentions that have nothing to do with what was publised so

Sure , what I like about Odyssey was simply the fact that I could get out of the SRV and walk around a planet surface for once , all of the extra crap that was added its great but really I did not need that personally and was not looking for that. I agree there is a lot missing in terms of game play and imagination in this area but when you have a company that is more interested in profit than quality in the end this is what you get, so I am not at all surprised and in this case no one that was expecting more got what they were looking for so its too bad. Perhaps things will improve with time for the sake of all those that are highly disappointed.

I spend time on many forums and I’ve never come across this point of view. Even folk who like EDO are aware that it is not finished or at a level to justify the release directly after the alpha. Truth is, Frontier needed to push it out in early summer to clear the late summer milestone taken by Jurassic Park. It doesn’t mean it won’t be worked on.

What we have is a basis for future potential. Whether this potential is realised depends, in part, on how we use the basics. I have trouble with some of the bugs, glitches and broken stuff, but I’ve played EDH for some time and that has its share. Even EDH got fixes over time. EDO will get a lot more attention because of its bad rep.

So, yeah. It’s not a great situation. Frames might be low on foot pew-pew and some gfx updates have broken shit (Most planets are currently black and I keep falling through my ships) but There’s great graphix and some interesting gameplay potential there. Everything else will get fixed eventually because it has to.

I went back to Horizons not because of Odyssey's bugs but because I'm tired of going to known hotspots and seeing almost no one else around. Odyssey at this point is mostly a single player experience. That was OK while I was gone exploring for several weeks, but now it bothers me.

The galaxy divide must end. I'm ready for client 4.0, but FDev apparently isn't. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah its insane. I need to spend more time on space trucking if i want to be top 10%. I really want this onion skin for cobra mk3. Bounty hunting is some kind of joke in this system. They could have added pirate activity instead of weapons fire signal

So there is only one opportunity to get out of the SRV? But even this possibility is ruined by the well-known "Armstrong moment".
I understand what you are saying, but I must honestly admit the Frontiers are shitting themselves with Odessey.

I don't go for signal sources, I just interdict wanted NPCs that pass through the system. Only small ships and the occasional Krait or FDS, but it should be enough to get me one of those decals for my Courier.
