EpisparhIf action A is shorter than action B but both result in same end result I will choose always A.

What if action B is two hours of space combat, and action A is 30 minutes of holding down a mouse button (aka. laser mining)?

Then I will have 30 min for laser holding and the reminder of 90 min I can do combat if I so wish and enjoy.

I am simple person. I do grind so I would not need to grind and enjoy whatever I want.

This sums up nicely my least favourite aspect of the Elite universe. The economy makes no sense. Simply put, when the supply of most minerals is effectively unlimited the relative pricing should all balance out to relatively even. Silver and Platinum should be worth about the same, or more accurately silver should be worth more. Why? Because silver doesn't get hotspots (afaik) which makes it scarcer/harder to mine than Platinum (although, tbf I think the reason silver doesn't get a hotspot is because they are deemed not worthy due to the pricing which is another issue).

The economy is simple static variable garbage affected only by BGS states with some constants. If no one supply with Silver but economies needs it to produce the price should sky rocket exponentially. Regardless of how easy is to someone to get one. The demand also should stack with the time or ahead of time if we want to be more realistic.

There is no incentive to mine anything else than meta commodities. Personally, my most valuable resource is my time. If action A is shorter than action B but both result in same end result I will choose always A. This gives me more time to do whatever I want with the remainder of the time that I would waste with the other method.

Yes, it shouldn't be like this though. The core problem is that Demand doesn't reduce in line with supply. If the demand is 10000 and you show up with 500. It should reduce to 9500 with some fluctuation in the numbers to simulate the NPC contributions. If nobody filled the demand then it should go up.

If this happened to a greater extent than it sort of ish does now then demands for things not supplied by players would sky rocket until their prices became attractive to prospective player traders. As it stands now Platinum is the only thing mathematically worth mining. Everything else is personal taste. Traders deal with maybe 5 different lucrative commodities and the other 98% of the market list is strictly Mission fodder. It screams 'well it was good enough for the Commodore 64 30 years ago so it's good enough now' and it really isn't.

I agree. Like I said, it could breathe new life into the game's universe. Add some common sense to it. ))

BigC208I just got a Fleet Carrier last week.

WarCat72-PCFrom talking to a few Commanders...

Those are two really fascinating ways to make them work! Thanks for the info.

Sounds like owning a Fleet Carrier is more trouble than it's worth.

Depends on playstyle. I enjoy (-ed, when I was more actively playing, too busy these days) my one and it's pretty helpful in what I do in game.

It REALLY depends on playstyle.
When for example you will change ship to some taxi for new CG, and after it waste 1-2 hours for ship transfer I will jump with my whole fleet and modules in 15 minutes.
And is very helpfull in trade.
Additionaly, I enjoy bgs, but faction, which I support is usually in some systems with only ouposts, without even rearm, so carrier can be additional large pad with ream/repair/refuel.
And at the end- sometimes I play with friends, so no more 1hr waiting to gather all people in certain system-they land on carrier, and after 15 minutes we all are in 1 place, with our ships.
Imagine, how helpfull it can be in any expedition, when all people want to see next waypoint, but not all have enough time to jump here

Depends on your situation or how much you play really.
If you played during the Happy Times when mining made it trivial to earn billions you accrued enough in 5 trips to pay for a years worth of upkeep. Nowadays over a month of upkeep is still easily doable per trip of whatever you're preferred moneymaking scheme is. If you're situated as such. If not FC ownership would very much be a babysitting thing that I could see being annoying and I think that was FDev's true intent with the balance passes they made this past year. I do not believe they intended for every new free account to own one easily.

Just to add that, Like Saka, I get really bored after a couple hours doing any one thing. So, I’ve found my FC carrier invaluable. To bring the whole fleet means I can do a little bit of one thing then swap it up and do something else.
The upkeep is just not an issue if you’ve enough to buy the FC in the first place.
Mind: I haven’t taken it out for extended periods in the black. Usually just head for target and explore in ships.

If I got a Fleet Carrier, I'd probably use it in a similar way.

Only problem with taking FC out in black waiting 20mins jumping and cooling down before next jump , but is useful to have a mobile base

So, the MCs look interesting but most folk are going with the seeker missiles which, quite frankly, suck eggs.
