Thermal vent will not help you with rails. If you fire rails while firing thermal vent beam you will cook yourself even faster. If you want to use thermal vent beam you need to use it ONLY between rail shots.

In any way, if you want to be aggressive with 4 rails you will need heat sinks.

Thermal load of Imperial Hammers is 45% lower than regular rails!

Edit: Oh wait, they always fire 3 shots at once, so the total load is higher.

Plasma slug reduces thermal load by 40%!

So does, super penetrator and feedback cascade.

Canceling SCBs might be important, especially in PvP. And Super Penetrator is super useful once the shields are down.

But 80 shots seem very few...

It seems more practical to just have mats for reloads

It is kinda a PITA....

Hm, gathering materials is not such a pain if you combine that with other activities and keep collecting even if you do not need them. The problem comes only if you collect as much as you need just before you need them.

Unfortunately, for raw mats the options are limited and IMO boring.

Yuna SakashiroI know that the efficiency of thermal vent depends on the beam's main modification, but does the beam's size have an impact, too? If possible I would add a small or medium long range beam that doesn't drain my PD too fast.

The more heat it generates the more heat will get vented. So the best option would be huge and shortrange, when only looking at the venting part of it.

But it isn't.
Imagine trying to reload all 4 of your rails one by one while trying not to get hit while doing so. Basically Impossible.

I've run this build, just with normal rails not hammers, no problem imagining it. The build should have any opponent dead or crippled long before ammo becomes an issue. If you are under heavy fire from multiple opponents, then as with any build a retreat has to be considered. The way i see it, you build it the way it suits you, you give up something for plasma slug, and you give up something for super pen and cascade, in my opinion though it's more situational in for the later.

While Saka is talking about PvP, you are obviously talking about PvE where you could ofc easily reload after your threat has been eliminated and move on to the next target. But then you could just reload at a station for convinience.
This wouldn't work for PvP since it's one fight and you would have to reload in the middle of it unless your opponent is a total sleeper that will almost never happen.
Also having plasma slugs you can risk more shots even if you think they will not hit.

Going to station for each reload would probably put me of rails forever I will not attempt argue about pvp specifically as I do not have experience with the build in that setting and do not know if shields can be downed quickly enough to cripple the PP or engines before reload

Thanks! That is great advise I will make use of it

Yuna SakashiroI fired a few shots with the unengineered railguns. Each quadruple shot adds about 47% heat. If I fire again before heat has dropped to 52%, there will be module damage.

Epi's solution to add MRPs is an interesting one, as it would allow me to keep the PA on the huge hardpoint. The other option is to replace the PA with a thermal vent beam. I know that the efficiency of thermal vent depends on the beam's main modification, but does the beam's size have an impact, too? If possible I would add a small or medium long range beam that doesn't drain my PD too fast.

Larger size beams do vent more heat (or so I have read).
