HeathenChild979OK...up front i will agree, Im NOT good at combat!  I have been smoked by a novice courier while in a decently engineered chieftain (PVE).  So , more practice, but i need to survive long enough to get better.  I have 2 shield tank build options and would like some feedback or recommendations.  Have plenty of credits and materials, and unlocked all the needed eng (good at other things) but hav a 200M credit budget to burn.

If you want a good ship for PvE combat and you hate off-center seats, the Mamba is for you. Better armor hardness, higher speed and better shields than the Krait and the Clipper.

No, I don't hate it. Just like driving in Europe, you sit on the left. It's impressive when in VR and you look around at the rest of the cockpit.

I agree. I think my major issue with the seat position seems to be expecting thing to be a little to the right of the center, cause im trying to automatically compensate for not being centered in the ship. I image the game handles that but my reflexes dont seem to agree!

Ah, don't worry, you'll get used to it. Took me less than a month to get adapted to FDL's right side seat.

I know the clipper is large but it is very maneuverable with the room for a nice hanger bay and extremely fast i would of said krait before i had the clipper but hands down best ship. I am soon to be unlocking the cutter, i have feeling the the clipper will be hard to give up. We shall see

with the phyton i had very good combat experiences.. you can even get some annacondas down with it. corvette and cutter are harder nuts but nice to fight. i had my fun the phyton
i would recommend to use one plasma accelerator (efficient with target look breaker) on a slot 3. very helpfull, saved my ass in many situations..

On Xbox i have hotus thrustmaster controls, cant figure out how to use my fss scanner or adjust my sensor range.

many here have a hotus, i guess anser is comming soon.. but it should be a keybind problem i think, do you checked the keybind option section ? i dont have a hotus so just a supposition

I used to be in the same situation, rich, pimped out ships with all the bling, yet when a pirate pull me over I run, don't care if he is in sidewinder, I run.
Not any more though,
My way to master the dark side of the force was to practice in Non-human signal source threat 3 and 4, THARGOID SCOUTS
they all have the same armor and weapons so you can practice and test out your builds
I noticed that Clipper and Mamba is great at combat, use to fly Python for 99% of the time, you know, making credits, but those 2 ships are great for scout hunting, I even tried DBX but it had low punch output making it too long to take down scouts
So start there and see how you do
Shield tanks are great for scouts put on ax multicannons and have fun

today i use my corvette build for burning stations rescues missions and I spend my coffee breaks with the scouts, fun bunch, exchanging ideas and such, lots of fun

An Excellent idea and Anit-Xeno Initiative had some great build ideas not too diff from my plan. I think I will give it a shot. Now, just gotta figure out how to get a low jump range combat ship to a good spot. LOL.

Honestly can't speak for the Clipper but I do love my Cutters. Hope you enjoy yours once you get one!
