EDSY and coriolis.io both work for planning ship layouts. I go back and forth between the two but some have a preference for one over the other.

I'll have a look as still not cracked the load/layout for my new ship!!! as a newbie so much to learn..so at the moment cant get to jump anywhere as got a 2 ton limit!!

Witch head nebula have 16 inhabited systems. I may be wrong but there are 5-6 Occelus starports and one Asteroid base.

Hi, CMDR Longshanks

If you assign too many weapons to the same firing button (all on 1 or all on 2 ) on a Fire Group, you might go over Weapon capacitor and they won't fire as they are overloaded. Start by assigning one weapon at a time and see if they can be fired and add more later, also try to split them between firing 1 and 2 .

Hi, CMDR Longshanks

Sounds like One of 2 things...

1. Are you are trying to jump further than your craft will allow? Try re-plotting the route.
This often happens if a route was plotted with low fuel levels, after refueling your craft is heavier and can not jump so far.
2. Is your FSD powerful enough to move your craft? You may need to buy a larger unit.
I would almost always suggest installing the largest possible A rated FSD.

Especially when most of us old guys didn't even have much of a tutorial... just "Here's your ship... byyyyeeeeeeeee!" and then you died trying to land on a pad.

I've tried intentionally not to look for advice and figuring out things has been quite fun this far, but not always. Now that I'm starting to get my hands on proper mid-tier ships, I find external sites quite valuable, but still I'm concerned of getting too much aid and advice. Expecting pretty much to be blasted out of sky when I try mining for the first time...
