BurstarIt's not 'all heat'. It pulls heat out at a set, admittedly very high, rate until discharged. If you're at 20000% heat and pop a heat sink you'll be at 19500 or something not 0 by the time it's done.

In a roasting T9 charging it's FSD while bordering a type A star a heat sink will barely cause the heat needle to move.

Interesting, I’ve yet to have a heatsink fail to drop my ship’s heat to low single figures, if not to zero. That includes falling foul of star exclusion zones and burning off caustic Thargoid snot.
If one reached 20000% heat I suspect your ship would be full of molten modules, including heat sink modules. In that case I suspect the point you make would be somewhat academic

Ok , i will keep this in mind as well

Applied level 2 lightweight to my D sensors, before realizing they are not A. I am almost ready to start my trip to Beagle Point with my Aspx.

Am I better to change the engineering to longrange, or buy A sensors and apply Lightweight?
Thanks for advice.

Edit: (the context of my original quote was regarding combat ships)
For exploration vessels built to maximize jump range D+Lightweight is the exception. For that role this is ideal because it minimizes weight and power draw. IF you get caught in a combat situation being effectively blind will almost certainly not save you if you're in pure exploration build.

;tldr you did not waste anything as it is an exploration ship. Actually, max out your lightweight engineering for this purpose.

Note that the letter Grade only applies to powered ship core/optional modules. Things like Cargo racks, weapons, etc don't follow this convention.

Thanks for the info! Kept my D sensor for my long trip around.

Hey guys, if anyone interested

6th planet of OOCHOST DG-B C2-0 (2300 ly from Sol) contains A LOT of occupied emergency capsules. If one is interested by this, it's a very good site!

I just don't have cargo to handle it.

See ya

Strewth, that ship should have been a blob of molten metal and slag by rights!

I was amused by the bobblehead, very droll.

After +4 months of slight errors and just generally not knowing enough of the game it's nice to see it's possibly possible to get at least double elite on a good Cobra Mk 3. It's just heck of a lot slower than with better ships. For trade elite you'll probably need at least a good Type six. Takes of course much longer than with Type 7. There is no rush for me anymore, as long as I keep out of certain combat instances and engineering and thargoid stuff. If you want to rush things and fight PvP or Thargoids by all means grind the best weapons and ships, but the societal stuff is becoming interesting for me. Try to do some stupid things without dying might be enough for me for a long time.

A tiny class 1 hull repair limpet controller would have saved the ship.

at the beginning i started to raise my trade skills and make money.. that goes faster than i thought. next steps was exploring stuff and than combat stuff.. couse you need money for ships and stuff and.. when you like to fight from the beginning i would suggest ground combat, skills are raising very quick and you dont need a good ship or a big wallet.. or joining a combat crew (ground or space) can also be funny at startup

btw. the mercenary rang can only be raised in war or civil war systems, is there no other way, like missions from a local mercenary megaship (had read something about it.. somewhere..) ?

You're talking about INARA Mercenary badge or in-game rank? Any kind of on-foot combat will contribute towards the second option, but for the first, yeah, you have to fight in ground conflict zones.

about the inara rang. thought it must be ground conflict zones.. but is there a need for war or civil war systems ?

Both of them will do fine, it just has to be a CZ, not just a random pew-pew with you scaring off the scavengers or attacking the settlement.

aah ok, many thanks.. will do so..

ps: it´s a pitty, there´s no war or civil war system atm at colonia.. maybe time will change some systems.. so marked for the future for now.. best ground combats atm are the defending cargo missions, i like the rush of the enemies waves.. they could only handle a bit more intelligent..
