Don Uggie 30% tells you that each fragment you refine from surface mining gives you that percentage of a tonne. Meaning that you will get one Tonne of rich metal (platinum or whatever) for every 3 to 4 fragments. You would be surprised how quickly that will fill your holds.
I reckon anything above 25% is worth stripping.

30% is the average concentration of platinum in ALL asteroids that I have studied - mining data in EDDiscovery. I have information that 22% is a lot and wanted to check.

Though to fly out lof the Bubble and see Canopus, one of the bright stars seen in much of the Bubble. Found out there are settlements around there. Currently @ Exphiay, that looks like a properly established system. Now, has someone made a map from which you can see if an area is inhabited or not? I have heard of an 'Expansion Region' but are there several of these? To expand to the Canopus area kind of makes sense though, I think it is below the thicket of Brown dwarfs and T Tauris that crosses the plane of the Galaxy. No Thargoids there, what I saw. Next I probably go say hello to Pleiades, I believe there are still some human settlements also?

SakashiroIn fact leaving the carrier-owning account in the bubble and using an alt as crew would make upkeep even less of a problem because credits are so much easier to earn in the bubble.

After some more consideration I've decided to do it exactly like that. My main will stay in the bubble, and my alt will be traveling. This also means I can enable all the carrier services instead of just the basic ones, and I won't be spending all week scanning bodies and plants to offset the money drain. Because that might get dull very soon.

All my alt needs now is 150 million for a Python and a DBX, some materials for a pre-engineered 5A FSD, and the Guardian FSD booster unlock. Then she'll be ready to go exploring.

Looking at moving on from ED due to the PS4 future issues, not complaining as had several cheap years of enjoyment, and was wondering if you could suggest the best / similar ED game to move to?
Thanks

The in game galaxy map has options to display populated systems only. The interface varies based on which version you're using so instead of me spelling it out for you I highly recommend examining the options in there as a lot of data can be easily filtered for.

The Pleiades is indeed populated. I recommend visiting Taygeta. Very scenic system.

Give No Man's Sky a try. It's far from space sim, but it's a space game at the core. It also has crossplay, the updates are free, and the game world is actually pretty stable. It starts off as space survival, but turns into an exploration game with crafting elements mostly.

Too bad the Cobra MkIV has horrible speed. I really like the ship except for that.

This fun never stops with this POS, eh? Back to MSFS for me.

Check if something isn't/wasn't occupying your entire bandwidth. As far as I remember, the "Cobra" errors had something to do with the game client inability to download missions within the expected/reasonable timeframe, or something like that. I am not saying it was the reason in this particular case, but worth checking.

My bandwidth is fine. I just happened to jump into a server with infinite carriers. I could tell something was wrong, because the hyperspace screen went on for much longer than it usually did. I crashed. Tried to log back on. Getting that error.

Maybe add different error badges we can earn? I should have lvl 5 Black Adder badge (for real, I get that one a lot).

This should be in the Updates/Requests page because I love it. Add a whole parody section so we can earn ranks in Error accumulation, Support page bugs reported that decay out, and so on

Thank you for the tips. As my setup is poor in using multiple windows, I'll try to check the navigation map first. I can plan routes quite ok. but have not checked every other options in there.
