But if it's just AFK players then I would not receive a permission to land literally on their heads and bots would not try to land on their heads too, right? Moreover, after scanning, looking at contacts menu and just trying to see players nearby through the messages menu I didn't see them as players, so it's just bunch of stucked bots.

As I said it is issue of the p2p network model that ED uses for synchronizing instances. If you play in large player group or online and you have more than one player in the instance the synchronization deteriorate over time and you can observe a lot of borked NPC behavior. Clogged pads or mail slot, NPC ships on supposedly free designated landing pad or merged together ships.

Wow, that's tough. Is it often thing to appear in the game? Or it's rare, but cause many difficulties for players?

...
I thought that Solo mod will somehow limit what I can do in the game, so I didn't try it.
...

Sole mode do not limit you in any way except of meeting other players. In this scenario the instances are created only for you and synchronized only with you and the chance of seeing network related bugs is 0.

Alright, then I can use it if some kind of network related bug will appear. Thank you very much for explanation

It is a common thing in player popular stations with high NPC traffic such as Jaques Station and Jameson Memorial . Inevitably, someone leaves the game client logged in inside a station instance and that degrades it over time for anyone who joins it. Normally, if no player is left in an instance it is destroyed by the server, but if someone stays AFK the instance must be synchronized with everyone that enters it and that leads to borked NPCs.

here is an example of merged ships - Diamond Back Cobra mk3 in Jameson Memorial:

Elite Dangerous has a online p2p mechanic from pretty much yesteryear.

But no, those issues will not happen too often;
at least not at causal gameplay.

BUT they can easily appear in open mode at very high traffic systems,
like on community goals, or in systems often used to grind something.

or with a few friends and one with a bad internet connection...

It's sad that developers didn't or couldn't do anything to prevent bots from going to the stage of artificial despair when they can't even understand what's going on around them. So, if player will stay AFK too long, then some kind of synchronization bug will appear, and game will not show them as docked ships to players and bots, which will cause merging ships and inability to dock?

Thank you very much, I will keep it in my mind for when I will go to high traffic systems or will join community goal. Never thought about problems like this before

Only if other players enter the instance the NPCs will get borked over time.

A relative simple explanation:
A player 1 is in an instance. Then player 2 enters instance. All NPCs positions, station's assets, etc. must be synchronized between player 1 and 2 clients but the NPC behavior is controlled by one of the clients, not by a server. Now multiply this by factor of 5 or even 10 players who enters and leave the instance over time and account for the network latency and other hardware related stuff . It should be obvious how this will easily become a total mess.

ParkanI'm new to the game

Just a note that playing in public mode, there's a chance of getting shot down by other players (or "ganked," as people will refer to it). The chance may be higher for instance around popular (early) engineer's bases, or around Community Goals (CG's). So unless you specifically want to fight PvP (player versus player), it may be best to play solo or in private groups at least in those areas.

There's also no great harm in failing a mission, btw. You'll drop a tiny bit (or fail to rise) in that faction's standing, not typically a big deal.

Anyway, safe travels. I'm a relative newbie, myself.

also, in solo you can do amazing high-res screenshots (l.alt+f10 instead of just f10)
was the main reason for me to switch to solo

btw Regarding powerplay that I'm relatively new to, I only signed up not that long ago since I figured why not and to see what it's all about: So my power's going through a rougher spot and asking to fortify a few systems. When I do that I get the message a trigger's been met and so fortification is going on and all seems hunky-dory for that system; then next time I log on it's back to where it's been, and those systems are back to not being fortified at all. What gives? nb There's no visible ongoing opposition there, either.

Power play is best done with coordinated group activity. If you like to support some PP just try to connect with their community or at least with squadron which actively supports a PP figure.

The ED wiki/fandom pages usually have a link to a subreddit and/or discord. Ah, Inara - Powers have that information as well.

P.S. If you are there just for the special modules do not bother.

Ahh, save myself the trouble, huh. Thanks. Yeah I'd begun to wonder what's the point really, and as far as those weapons go, I'd picked Yong-Rui's missiles as being of possible interest, then again on second thought I think I like my seeker missiles just fine as they are

Hmm. I'll wait to see if others respond, but I guess I can see a defection coming up, then.

I think you get me wrong on the special modules. Some of them are best in slot. What I've meant is that if you are after a special module - just do what it needs to get them without much attention of if you are contributing or not to the particular Power.

And about Pack hounds from LYR...they are designed to make point defenses useless. A seeker missile poses no actual threat to an enemy that have couple of PDs on right positions. Pack hounds do not care about PDs they will still hit your drives even if you are running 8 PDs in all possible slots.

Ah. Right. Gotcha. I think

I shall doggedly persist then, in my not particularly contributive way (as in: fly one shipload or so of power thingumabobs around weekly). All systems go!
