EmpyriusSo I have a crew that I jeep on the books that steals 10% for doing nothing...

I just noticed that contributions to cg are 10% reduced... why isn't it 100% contribution then 10% of profit is transfered to my employee...


Yeah its really annoying and some CGs do it that way and others do it like you'd expect, it's really odd.

They steal credits and rank progression (trading, exploration, exobiology). I got rid of mine after a short while because of the rank stealing. I guess CGs fall under that category. Remember, FDev does not do things that make sense.

Light-HawkNever noticed this before but there is a size 8 frame shift drive in the game. Currently there are no ships available that can utilize it so there is no way to purchase one. What I also found to be interesting is that you can look up who sells them here on inara and the only places that sell it are all surface settlements. No stations sell it including the Jameson Memorial station.

Check the last update time. All the class 8 drives cost 0 Cr and were last updated more than a year ago. Looks like a temporary glitch in EDDN that lead to some stale data in Inara's database.

Luckily for you , you can always terminate that contract without advance notice

I knew they took credits, I had no idea they took rank progression. Oh well. I'm not getting rid of the AI pilot I hired and ranked all the way up to Elite from harmless. With what I put them through, they earned their pay.

Just to clarify: NPC Crew will not rank steal from trading, exploration or exobiology but they will take a cut of any profit you make from these pursuits. They do this whether they are with you or not. Mine now owns 12% of my overall worth (she has 2.094 billion Cr while I have 17 billion in total including assets).
However,
NPC Crew will steal rank for combat. At equal rank they split xp 50/50 with CMDR. NPC with lower rank than CMDR will take proportionally more XP and those with higher rank than CMDR take less. This only happens if they are actively involved in shooting tho. If you leave them at home or don't launch your fighters then they get zero.

Ah, that is true. What about merc rank? Is that based on number of combonds or cash received?

Same as in combat it is based on the number and ranks of NPCs you kill. Nothing to do with bonds and bounty values.

As far as I know, and many other players claimed to have tested that, they only take a share of the money (and from combat XP, when they are actively fighting).

But they should not cut down your trade or explorer rank, since the rank increase is calculated and given, before the payout cut takes place.

I know for sure, I've read this in a trustworthy community somewhere, but for damn sake, I can't find it anymore.

I don't know about the "trustworthy community" nonsense , but it may very well be calculated first (or at least it should be). I would like to know how they determined that. I mean, I know how I would go about it aside from looking at the actual code, so I would like to see their method since sometimes those can be a bit dubious.
