edo datas and materials can also be ´grinded´ from ground mission as mission rewards.. you have to grab a on foot mission, not the missions that are available from normal docking desk, they haven´t the right rewards.. did that many times.. if no suitable mission is available just check another location.. or wait some time, the missions refreshing. btw a good missions offer a amount of 5 units of the needed stuff as reward, you can accept multiple missions but keep an eye at the missions timer!

There is really no good way to grind. You can do it the painful way, the more painful way, or the most painful way. If you can find a carrier with the materials you need, I suggest just buying them. Farming credits is orders of magnitude easier than farming materials. There is a specific type of POI that has a greater likelihood of having Settlement Defense Plans, but is still a low percentage drop.

I mean, you could, but the demand is about 1000 times higher then the supply.
You ain't gonna get 'em, except you're really lucky...
Which probably means, about 1000 other players ain't gonna get 'em now.

As old saying, say... Elite is the name, GRIND is the game. BTW one day when you finish all you need, game kinda start to be boring... So you turn to find fun in CG's

Never been interested in the grind side. Attention span too short to be repeating the same shit for hours and too much other stuff to do in game.
There wouldn't be a problem if data could be traded like other assets. Fleet Carriers can sell mats but there is no way to broadcast that info - Inara's component trading is barely used and plain doesn't work as the API is too slow to register. By the time a useful mat is listed, it has gone, posted on Reddit. If the EDO Mat Helper app could update in real-time when someone sells mats from your wishlist, that would work, but heavy traffic. The app lists Arai's Mine top of all the Mat lists, but I've been and the return rate even there is piss-poor and the place is fucking dull.

Best idea for me is to ignore engineers and upgrades and just play what I feel. Maybe the mats fall, maybe they don't.

That's why I said "If you can find a carrier with the materials you need...". But no matter how you go about acquiring materials it will be a painful experience. Most (all?) of the time getting materials you need to upgrade things and doing the things you enjoy do not coincide. Ideally it shouldn't matter what activity you do, it should be fun. FDev dropped the ball in that area.

I'm born out of luck so finding it not much possible at selling Fleet carriers..

I done lots of things watched lots of videos and read lots of guides to find this sh*tty data but nope.

It's almost like that data is literally escaping from me lol.

It used to be easier to farm ody materials when dlc was released. Then monkeys nerfed it and it's much harder.
